My family has had a real tricky time this year for multiple reasons and every member of staff had shown compassion and professionalism. Pembroke continues to be an incredible service for its patients and we are very fortunate to have their support.

As someone who moves around a lot, this is by far the worst GP I have ever been to. I went in with a referral to get checked for a genetic condition which has been giving me problems for the past year and the doctor had the audacity to say i had already been treated for it, when i had only been given a couple of painkillers 10 months ago and never had any checks done. They also generally brushed off everything i said and refused to look at my referral that says 4 members of my family have a heart condition... genuine scum of the earth

Worst experience I’ve had with a surgery, constant mistakes, twice put on medication that made me violently sick, ended up in hospital with nerve damage after they ignored how much pain I was in, got called in for blood tests it turned out they hadn’t actually booked on their side, was left alone with my notes which I read and they had made serious errors, given incorrect information several times. When I made a complaint they too months to investigate then sent me extremely callous letters denying my care had been anything but perfect despite all the evidence I gave of mistreatment. I didn’t bother to continue with my complaint as the practice manager has no empathy and does not care.

A brilliant and proactive surgery. I had emergency surgery after an ectopic pregnancy a few years ago and got a kind, compassionate text from the GP to reassure me and say to reach out if I needed them. Further still my 18month old fell yesterday and needed an ambulance for head injury. Today I got a proactive call from the surgery just to check in. They are always happy to try and help and I like the online triage/ picture and videos we can send to get the help needed in the easiest way possible. Great surgery. Highly recommend.

Good doctors+nurses but why refuse shared care when you know how expensive private prescriptions are and all you’re doing is monitoring my ongoing health and prescribing. I’ve had to move GP just so I can receive shared care so really disappointing from whoever made this inconsiderate decision. At least have the decency to give me an actual reason to why it was rejected rather than telling the receptionist (who are all great btw) to tell me “we aren’t accepting shared care anymore”.

As a senior citizen I’ve attended quite a few surgeries, both in Bristol and elsewhere, and this is by far the best.
The helpful reception team creates a welcoming atmosphere (no mean achievement considering not every patient is patient!) and the nurses and HCAs are both caring and efficient.
With long term ailments the doctor you see will book your next appointment to ensure continuity of practice. Using the 24 hour automated telephone booking service may mean you don’t always see the doctor you want. But I’ve never found it a problem since all the doctors really do listen and discuss your treatment with you. This will not always be in the form of a prescription but could be practical advice or, reassuringly, a rapid referral to a specialist.
Throughout there’s a balanced blend of care, compassion and professionalism. Such a state of affairs doesn’t just happen – so all credit to the management for fostering it.

Old reviews don't always reflect the current situation. Post-Covid there are dire headlines about the state of the NHS and GPs' surgeries.
Having recently had several tests and face-to-face appointments with doctors at this surgery, I can only speak as I find. And I feel that every word of my earlier review (see above) still holds good.
