My father recently spent 2 weeks in Oak View lodge following a fall and broken arm. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Dad thoroughly enjoyed his stay and the 2 weeks respite enabled him to recover and be able to go back home. I would highly recommend Oak View lodge and would nothesitate in using their services again.

I have just come back from visiting a dear friend who is at Oakview Lodge. It’s like a 5* hotel. The rooms are spacious bright and airy with wardrobes and dressing tables. The staff are so lovely. They seem to have a huge range of activities, arts, crafts, exercise and music. They even have a pub and a hairdressers. My friend is very happy there. An amazing place.

I cannot thank Oakview enough for the support, loving care and beautiful environment they provide for my Mum. Although Mum's stay was short and over the lockdown period, when visiting was not possible, the Facebook posts and phone calls calmed my anxieties and heartache of not being able to be there. Cannot recommend Overview enough.

This was the best thing we ever did for my mum. She has done a total U Turn Healthwise, I cannot thank the Nursing Team enough. The staff are so wonderful to my Mum, I know she is well loved and looked after which is such peace of mind for her family.

This is a great home, but the care home manager is some work.
She is friendly at first when trying to win a new resident but sadly her friendliness is not consistent or genuine it seems.

My grandmother is a resident here on the dementia level (mid level).
The positives about this care home is that it is well decorated, they have thought of most things, a salon, a games room, a gym, a movie room. the nursing staff are mostly really brilliant, (Kunde is exceptional) the carers are also very good, mostly observant and get the patients involved in daily activities.

The negatives.
1. There is a bad smell through out the building. Especially obvious on the middle level where accidents happen more often, the rooms are not aired out because of not wanting the chill to come in most likely. Which is understandable, however nothing has been done to combat the smell, no air con no purifyer no airscent. I think the people who work there must be nose blind from being used to the smell it is not very pleasant!

2. The food offered at the home is basic, pies, fish and chips, soups, sandwiches etc, considering the age of the patients you would expect to see more high in fibre foods, beans, lentils, greens, but sadly there isn't. They had initially said that they would adjust their menu to their patients suggestions and preferences however even after providing a list of preferred foods, there is zero implementation.

3. Worst of all.. the manager is not very professional. Does not handle customer interactions/ complaints well, is very defensive and not helpful at all. She looks and acts and speaks in a very hostile manner, when approached. We dread seeing her!

When we were considering homes we were assured that the home was child and family friendly, and that we would be able to use the function room for occasional family get-togethers and meals where we could spend time with our grandmother and she could see her family in private, we were delighted! However the home manager has for no valid reason said this is not allowed even though we have booked the function room before through other staff. Some manager!
