I called 111 at 7.28am today for a UTI, Spoke to a woman who barely spoke English, I had to ask her to repeat herself many times. I'm just stating a fact. She was rude. Passive aggressive to begin with.. When people are unwell they don't want to hear someone who can't make themselves understood. She initially offered me an appointment within an hour. I asked her to give me time an hour or 2 to get to the Caldwell centre as I needed a lift. I didn't feel safe to drive as I was disorientated and had severe bladder and bilateral kidney pain. I explained I had a history of pyelonephritis and am having bilateral kidney pain now. She said she can only put 1 thing in her computer so where is the most pain She kept talking over me saying she now would now not give me an appointment and she would get a clinician to call me, I am assuming today? . She said she's not a clinician! I asked her to use her initiative rather than rely just on the computer as I needed a bit of time to get out of bed, get ready and arrange a lift to make the initial offer to Caldwell Centre. She refused and her manner was horrid. I asked if she could ask a supervisor or shift manager, she refused and then hung up. So I am not sure now if she booked me in or not ! I rang my GP and managed to get an appointment thank goodness. It is now 10.42 am and my kidney pain has got work and I feel shivery. She could have managed thus call if she wanted to. But she clearly didnt and now my symptoms are worse, which could have been prevented if she communicated a clear plan, didnt speak over me and let her aggressive ego get in the way. If this is the level of care HUC are providing, it's a matter of time before they get taken over or lose their contract. Any layperson with any degree of commonsense can see i have REDFLAGS! At the end of this experience there will be a letter to HUC. You only have to look at an employees review (Neil 1 year ago 1 star i recommend you read it to get an i sight of how he felt being put on the phones as a call handler with little idea of what to do). So I suffer and HUC makes money.

Very frustrating experience. I took sick day off from work so that I can get my headache and fever body ache sorted asap. But I had to wait for 4 hrs before seeing a GP. I regret my decision to not goto GP directly. I guess that would have been quicker. I was hoping to get blood test done in the urgent center but sadly they don’t do that as well. They should update their website to include services available on urgent care

I was fortunate enough to had been offered a place on the distant learning course a few years back (sorry for not writing this sooner)I was so excited and thrilled to know I could put my great skills to the test to be a call handler.
I was over the moon in fact.I had been cabin crew for 26 years and have great people skills and great knowledge of emergency first aid in the air.
I found the course incredibly intense…It was a case of here’s the info, digest it and get on with it and then there’s the exam which sadly I failed.I was offered a re sit but I know full well they had decided I was gone!!

I felt I needed support during the course and this was not given properly.Trying to do such an intense course needs classroom interaction not distant learning. But I guess with the covid situation this was not possible.
One of the trainers said to me after I had said I’m so looking forward to going live and actually starting the role..This person said to me,you’re not actually offered the job until you passed your tests etc…
When I sat my exams sadly I didn’t pass first time and I did the re sit straight away and apparently I didn’t pass that either but it’s my belief they didn’t want me there anyway!! I asked to see my 2nd resit paper and I wasn’t allowed to see this so I feel this was done very sneakily
Very sad as I know I’d of been a great call handler with lots of empathy for the distressed person…Just because I missed a word out on my test etc I was fired?
The way I was treated on the time I was there was far from ideal
