After multiple phone calls with 111 I was told at 0930 to get there for 1030 for an urgent appointment and all details would be passed on. I arrived at 1015 to be told there was no 111 appointments coming through today. I explained the situation but to be honest the receptionist couldn't care less. She told me I would have a couple of hour wait to see a triage nurse before being able to join the queue to see a doctor (which a guy in front of me was told was a 2+ hr queue). I left. Thats NHS urgency for you and a complete broken system.

Via a call back from 111 at around 8 am I got an appointment for 9:30 am. I was seen quickly, had an x ray, got crutches and a walking boot and was ready to leave in just one hour. Everyone was very helpful and the whole clinic seemed very well organised.

I understand the frustration of waiting for long hours, even with the presence of many nurses and medical workers. It's disappointing that despite the influx of medical staff, the hospital is still understaffed. I miss the efficiency of medical consultations and treatment in India and the Middle East.

The worst hospital I've ever been in my life and the rudest secretary you could ever find. Having high fever (39-40), swollen tonsils, and having tested negative for covid and flu, I called 111 to discuss my symptoms, which I knew were tonsillitis as this is something that happens to me oftenly. The clinician at 111 told me "I will book an appointment with a doctor, at clinic 9, we have 16:30 and 17:45, what do you prefer?" and I booked "an appointment with a doctor at 17:45". I arrived at the hospital and I asked the secretary, "is this clinic 9?" and she said "well there is clinic 9 here, there is clinic 9 also there". I said that I have an appointment and she said "you certainly don't, you probably have a slot to come in" which is definitely something I wasn't told over the phone. She told me that I need to go to the main building and wait for more than 1 hour to get a covid test, while I told her I've tested negative, she said she doesn't care and when I asked how long I would need to wait here she said I don't know but absolutely more than 3 hours. I left immediately, went home, I called a doctor in Greece and that doctor immediately prescribed the antibiotics I needed without any cost. The NSH and every hospital in England (not Scotland) are the worst hospitals you could find in your life with the rudest staff. AVOID! If I continue to stay at Cambridge I would prefer to pay for tickets to go find a doctor in Greece rather than speak with any of these uneducated and rude doctors and staff.

The lady on the reception was very rude and abrupt. There are mixed messages given my the different staff members as you have to check in at A&E but then get sent back to wait again. It was very busy in both departments but felt that things could quite easily have been streamlined with less bureaucracy and better triage.

In great distress because our son had all but amputated his fingertip in the door hinge, we were met by a very level-headed and reassuring receptionist, seen and given first aid very quickly by a super friendly young man, and given a treatment plan within a couple of hours by a team of very compassionate and friendly health care professionals.

They turned a nightmare into a
manageable situation. We thank them all

The absolute epitome of the collapsing NHS. Minimum 3.5hr wait. Extremely short staffed. No aircon or airflow.
