I've never had a problem with booking an appointment here. Empathetic GP. Reception staff remarkably willing to help considering what they have to put up with from lots of people. Keep at it!

I am utterly shocked at the performance of this surgery, from reception to consultation. If you are very lucky you may get that one member of staff who genuinely cares, which may be why there are the odd 1 or 2 good reviews. You may expect this to be my surgery it's not! I was an emergency appointment from another practice, thid is not my first appointment here. I hope it is the last! I was born into this world by Dr Rose himself as were my siblings & i continued under his care until I was 18. He retired the new surgery was buit! I imagine that man would not delight in the fact that his legacy is now the largest practice in Gloucester but in fact turn his grave. It was a family practice & this had meaning, the staff were thorough, they cared, were considerate, they made you feel heard and that you & your health concerns were important. Reception staff were dignified, discreet and diligent and all were confidential.
I would be interested to actually see or hear the stories or performance ratings regarding consultations and interactions with all members here.
On arrival to my appointment my initial thought, it just seemed unclean, not fresh, there was a larger lady sat on reception, as I could not use the booking-in computer (it wouldn't allow) i walked inside, before i go to the counter she called over to me, not good practice or training! A smile and gesture would have sufficed i was looking directly at her after all. Next regimental questions. Explained I had an appointment could not use the login computer. She didn't interact or respond with a smile or reassurance. While this was going on I noticed a man slouched on the next chair along swinging from side to side watching my induction, like he was watching tv, just without the popcorn! I have to express how uncomfotable unprofessional and sterile this was, I felt like I was at the bus station! This is the gateway to our care givers, I wasn't holding out much hope at this point, if they couldn't care how their reception staff meet & greet patients what was to be expected of them! I know there are practice saff that take care of the employing and training of staff!!. The lady pointed over to her left towards chairs and indicated I take a seat. There was a member of staff updating a board in the waiting area. Silently done, there were junior school age children in the back ground kicking a plastic object and running over bouncing on chairs. I have four children! I know they were playing & luckily it wasn't busy, there needs to be a level of understanding what is acceptable. There really didnt seem to be anything there to occupy them while they waited.
The other employee went behind the counter & asked the man to move out of her chair. He then sat on the desk at the side of her, talking with both ladies, on his phone and showing them pictures or something, it was then I noticed the word student on the back of his top. Oh please! this isn't a potential future GP surely!
I was called & got up, she turned her back away and walked forward held the door, she glanced over her shoulder I was close enough she let the door go! Has no idea why I'm here! Walks off like she was in Londons walking marathon, I just recall staring down at her brown boots & following them. I already felt she was probably going to be abrupt or short! She arrived at the consultation room and looked back at me, Almost like c'mon whats taking you so long! From then I felt like a factory piece, all regimental questions, not once did she look at my medical history, to be aware of anything! I felt like she examined the shell but didn't shake to see if anything else was broken! It was all rushed she obviously didn't want to be there. I can honestly say being ill it's the first time I couldn't wait to get away from a GP practice.
My sister is still at their practice and has been her whole life, she has some absolute horror stories. I think should have been taken further. I may make a blog for the peoples voices. I cannot say what the other practices are like this was stroud road Gloucester.

I strongly advise against choosing this practice if you have alternative healthcare options. Unfortunately, my experiences here have been deeply disappointing, extremely stressful and has deep rooted inefficiencies.

Let me start:
1) you can’t make appointments between the hours of 12-2pm. They have an online system, but you can’t make a new appointment during that time… you know. When most people have their lunch break! It’s an online form. Why does it cut off during lunch? It’s just so, so strange. Why can’t you just review the request after lunch.

2) Received a prescription for a mild condition for our infant son. Nothing serious or anything, but requested the prescription was sent to Boots. Receptionist confirmed it had been sent to boots. So I moseyed over to Boots, and when I arrived, they said they had no request. Went back to the surgery, they said it definitely HAS been sent to boots, so I went back with the number and said there must be a mistake. Boots said once again, no, it has not been sent to them! So I once again went back to the practice and tbh, I was getting very annoyed with them as they wouldnt print off the god damn prescription, you know, like every other GP practice in England and I was getting extremely frustrated, with a poorly child who was getting very stressed out and restless.

I was then being threatened that unless I called down, they will have me removed. I wasn’t swearing, I was just asking them why this keeps happening and where the god damn prescription has been sent to! To which they kept repeating Boots!!!! Anyway, a competent male doctor came out to find out what the problem was. I told him and he went on the system, and found out it was actually sent to Badham surgery next door!!!! And yeah, I was the bag guy in the situation because I lost it with the idiot on reception.

…. And it happened AGAIN!!!! Not one month later when my partner went to pick up her prescription. The same bloody thing!

This place, is an absolute disaster! We can all talk about how underfunded the NHS is, but this was just plane old idiocy!

While I understand that the NHS is under pressure and underfunded, this practice’s failures go beyond that. The level of incompetence I’ve encountered here is alarming and unacceptable. Patients deserve better, and this practice needs to improve dramatically for the sake of its community.

Near impossible to get appointment. If unfortunately held up on way to appointment and few minutes late unable to be seen. If as often case, patient appointment delayed, penalised if unable to wait well beyond appointment time

This surgery denies my right to health . I was misdiagnosed once and the treatment they give made my situation worse. The second appointment they offered me with NP was useless. I'm gonna get help from Patient Claim Line

Try to book an appointment and the best I get is a ‘phone appointment’ two weeks later. It says between 8 and 10am. So I wait and wait. Nothing. Then I get two missed calls at 12.30pm and 12.55pm when I’m away from my phone. Call back and the automated message says they’re closed.

And this is typical of most my experiences with them.

I need to change surgeries as they are absolutely useless.

This surgery should not be allowed to operate. 11 month old needs antibiotics. Doctor prescribed, went to pharmacy next door, they didn’t receive it after 2hrs. Back to doctors, apparently they need a second doctor to sign off. Waited till closing for them to sign off but decided they decided to go home before signing it off. Can’t get my child antibiotics now until tomorrow and he’s in pain. Poor
