This surgery is a joke! You can only make appointments in the morning, which is not doable for everyone and makes no sense. All the doctors I have seen are incompetent, except Doctor Barton. But what has really got me hating this surgery is the Doctor who done my sons fit note for his universal credit claim. This wasn't his actual doctor as he was unavailable, and no matter how many times I asked when he is available, the receptionist wouldn't say, just another Doctor would do it. My son had his upper right arm bone removed due to cancer and replaced with a prosthetic one. Over the years the arms movement has gotten worse and worse, it is now practically dead, it can't move, all the shoulder muscles have gone. He can't even butter bread as there is no strength in his arm to hold the bread down. His sleep is minimal due not being able to get in a comfortable position and wakes through out the night in agony from rolling onto his bad arm. This has caused him to develop agoraphobia, depression, social anxiety and panic attacks. And what did this Doctor put in his fit note? She said, "He has pain in his shoulder which sometimes causes discomfort and maybe is fit for work." Really!! This woman without a doubt did not read his hospital notes, most probably quick scanned his Doctor notes and most certainly didn't listen to a word my son said when she spoke to him. So well done Doctor Brock, you have screwed my son over as they are now trying to get him to work, which is causing him unwanted stress, anxiety and depression!!
Update: The response I got to my review;
"Please contact the Practice Manager to discuss your review. Appointments can be booked during our opening hours but this does depend on availability. The staff may signpost you to another appropriate service if it is not Primary Care. We also offer Patchs, an e consult service."
No you can't make an appointment during opening hours, well you can but only at 8 in the morning, I get told this every time I try and make an appointment. Also, the damage has been done concerning the Doctor and her joke of a fit note. The dwp are now not listening to anything we say, all because she was too lazy to go through his hospital notes. If she had gone through them, she would have seen how severely damaged his arm is .. Fact!

The staff are always feiendly but Its quite difficult to get a drs appointment or evan a phone call sometimes i have tried calling for up to an hour before starting at 8am to then be told all appointments have gone and to call back tomorrow i have had this many times

Absolutely useless place to be. Receptionists like to think they are doctors..unkind useless reception. Mostly no brain don’t know how they hire such uneducated people. Messed up everything. After calling 3 times about where to send my medicine like pharmacy wise they mess up all over again.
Apperently they have only 1 gp which might just google things and write prescriptions.
They want us to sympathise them but they don’t have basic common senses and NOT DOING THEIRE SIMPLE JOBS PROPERLY like putting address correctly.
PLEASE DONT TRY TO ENROLL YOURSELF YO THIS SURGERY.
Useless place with uneducated People running it.

Absolutely hopeless.......can't book an appointment without phoning non stop from 8 am. If you get through which is practically impossible you are told you can only go if it's an emergency. If you want to book an appointment in advance you are told to go to the surgery website and use Patches. Just tried to do that and have been going round in circles for the last half hour. Whenever I go for my routine blood tests the place is deserted. Where are all the doctors? because they are definitely not in the surgery.

It really saddens me to see such poor reviews for this Surgery... as I have received nothing but excellent care from all the staff at Hillcrest. The receptionists have an incredibly hard job to do but have always been pleasant, friendly and helpful. If it takes you a while to get through, patience will get you there. Enormous thanks to Dr Collinson and Dr Rumball who have both been so helpful, understanding and attentive. Nurses are also lovely. I really cannot fault any experience I have had with them. Keep up the good work.

Regrettably I'm yet another in the long line of those disillusioned with the hopeless Hillcrest Surgery.
When the telephone is eventually answered, the appointments are usually full.
Any help provided is inadequate and from incompetent people who are seemingly indifferent to the patients needs.
I'm desperately in need of help with medication and a GP's letter to cover my absence from work. The fact I'm deprived of even speaking to a GP, serves to exacerbate the problem. Waited all afternoon for a call that didn't materialise, I've just registered with Hope House Surgery, Radstock, fingers crossed there'll be at least some 'hope' there.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with the service you are receiving from the surgery. Please contact the surgery management team directly so we can deal with your complaint.”

These observations are much the same as the vast majority over the past four years. Many have registered elsewhere as they’ve seen no changes. It’s improvements that need to be brought about, rather than constantly fobbing off dissatisfied service users.

Absolutely disgusting doctors, from being told i could possibly have cancer and being referred to being told in hospital dr Barton had sent me for the wrong exmaination to begin with and only men over 80 have that sort of cancer. being constantly let down and thrown medication what was making my mental health in a bad way and not listened to and told to keep taking them, i was in a worse position before i seeked help from hillcrest surgury, i know its convient if you live in peasdown byt would avoid at all cost.

My recent experience at Hillcrest Doctors Surgery has left me deeply disappointed and appalled. I am compelled to share my account of their incompetence, particularly concerning my father's cancer care, which was marred by excessive waiting times, rude reception staff, and a doctor who proved to be an embarrassment to the NHS. Regrettably, my father has since passed away, and the substandard care received at this facility may have played a role. The lack of proficiency displayed even in issuing a certification of death only adds to my frustrations. It is disheartening that the staff at Hillcrest Surgery cannot fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

One of the most significant issues we encountered was the unreasonably long waiting times. Every appointment seemed to involve hours of waiting, which was particularly agonizing considering my father's deteriorating health. These delays caused undue stress and anxiety for both him and our family, leaving us questioning the competence and compassion of the medical staff at Hillcrest.

Furthermore, the reception staff displayed a shocking lack of professionalism and empathy. Their consistently rude and dismissive attitudes were truly disconcerting. We were met with curt responses, condescending tones, and an overall lack of concern for our situation. It is deeply regrettable that those responsible for the first point of contact with patients exhibited such abysmal behavior.

Doctor Nesbitt, in particular, proved to be an embarrassment to the NHS. His apparent disregard for my father's condition was alarming. He demonstrated a lack of knowledge, failed to address our concerns adequately, and seemed disinterested in providing appropriate care. As a medical professional, his behavior was not only disheartening but also raised serious doubts about the quality of healthcare provided at Hillcrest.

The ordeal reached its unfortunate conclusion with my father's passing, and even in that moment, Hillcrest Surgery managed to disappoint. The inability to issue a certification of death correctly is indicative of the overall incompetence we encountered throughout our time there. Such a basic administrative task should have been handled with utmost care and accuracy. Instead, it served as a glaring example of the disregard for detail and professionalism exhibited by the staff at this facility.

In light of these experiences, I strongly urge anyone seeking quality medical care to avoid Hillcrest Doctors Surgery. The inefficiency, rude behavior, and overall incompetence displayed by the staff make it clear that they are ill-equipped to provide the level of care and support that patients and their families require during challenging times. The staff at Hillcrest should be genuinely embarrassed by their performance, as it reflects poorly on the entire practice and undermines the trust patients place in them.
