I've used the surgery for support with a couple of different health conditions over the past few months and am incredibly happy with the care I've received. The Anima service is a modern and efficient way to triage, and I've consistently received responses in time frames that felt appropriate to my concerns. The doctors I have seen have made me feel heard and understood, and the reception staff have been very friendly and helpful too. Please don't be put off by the bad reviews, this is a lovely surgery with all the staff working hard to look after their patients.

New online Anima system is a nightmare. No one ever follows anything up or gets back to you. When I've seen a GP I've been happy, but that's rare. I only ever see (no disrespect intended) paramedics or nurses. The receptionists seem to hide in the office - no one ever seems to Man the desk. I've been diagnosed with a rare condition. No one has given me any advice - had to search online. Still waiting for biopsy results 5 weeks after having them taken. I'm out.

I have just moved to this surgery and am very happy with the care I have received on both occasions I have used them. Getting through askmygp isn't the simplest but I can fully understand why they use this method. Once I have had appointments the care I have received has been great.

For the first time since moving to Ilchester, I had to get in touch with Buttercross after fouling up my back. I decided to use the surgery's Anima online option... For me to accept I need a doctor's appointment is a big deal, as I have serious white coat syndrome! I had to. But what a relief; quick call-back from a wonderful lady doctor who was friendly, upfront and straight forward, prescribing what I needed. Today I'm massively on the mend - thank you so much. A hassle free way to manage smaller cases, and for some people like me who get nervous at surgeries, it's perfect.

By far the worst GP practice I’ve ever had. Receptionists are pointless because all they do is usher you to use AskMyGP, where you’re expected to wait all day or days even for a response that isn’t even remotely helpful. It takes a good 10 messages back and forth at minimum to get a somewhat helpful answer, stretching hours or days which could be done in a minute long phone call. The second to last time I put in a request on askmygp, Buttercross closed my request and completely ignored it. They didn’t call me regarding it, I got absolutely nothing and I ended up in A&E on a drip, if that doesn’t scream negligence from this surgery I don’t know what does. Putting more unfair strain on the hospital staff when it could’ve been solved a week prior They refuse to make face to face appointments too for some reason, I was recently prescribed very strong medicine without even being spoken to on the phone, all through the lazy AskMyGP service and they didn’t see me in person to check symptoms. Now of course I still have those symptoms even after taking said medicine, because I was “diagnosed” through a text message somehow. This place needs new management, new receptionists and new doctors. Everyone is clearly too lazy and when it comes to something like a GP practice laziness and negligence is just dangerous.

Infuriating waste of time, you'd be better off going to somerton vets. If there was an option for 0 stars it would be more appropriate.

Doctor told me to wear a mask, even though it is no longer a requirement and I am medically exempt. Whilst explaining the exemption to the doctor he abruptly told me that no one would be seen in 'his consultant room' without a mask, even if exempt. Rudest person I have ever met in my life, I left the building shaking with anger (not for the first time at this surgery either)

Why have receptionists? All they do is refer you to ask my gp online.

Ask my gp online is a joke! They have an option for how you would like to be responded too, I answer via telephone everytime and NEVER get a phonecall. Why even have the option?

In one instance of many, they replied online, I then spent the next 48 hours requesting 3 times to be responded to via telephone due to.not having Internet acsess. After 2 days waiting to get a response from a doctor via telephone, finally I did and when questioning the long wait I was told by the doctor that I was young, had Internet acsess and not dying. I left the surgery that day.

My son has had an issue since he was one month old that should have been a simple solution with a cream, 5 months later, my son is still suffering, this is due to the fact the surgery mainly uses locum doctors, meaning there is no consistency and instead of being treated as an ongoing problem, instead each doctor we saw disagreed with the one before, meaning we are no closer to a solution 5 months later!

They were concerned about my sons weight but we're unable to book an appointment to weigh him.. Confusing?!

Flu vaccines given whilst in the height of covid had no changes of gloves or washing of hands witnessed between 4 different peoples injections being given. Very poor infection control.

There are many many many more issues I have had with this surgery.
I'm sure the manager will probably reply to this post saying I could contact them to complain, but after soooo many issues.. It's easier just to move surgery's.

RUDE STAFF

Update 2021. Still the worst GP I've ever been a member of. I don't know why they Employ reception staff. They cant make appointments apparently. Fob you off and waste your time.

Worst Surgery iv every been a member of. They refuses to book you any appointments unless you call at 8.30 am regardless of your ability to call at that time. Even if you do call at 8.30 the refuse to allow you to see your GP and refer you to nurses that will question each others judgements and diagnosis. Extremely unhelpful desk staff. This is the second time im having to put a strain on the hospital system because of the negligence of this surgery

Honestly cannot fault this place, they are so hard working and truly care for their patients.
Times have changed and I think people need to realise this. Unfortunately it's not as easy to see a GP anymore but the rise in population and the lack of practices has a huge factor in this.
This is the best surgery I have had the pleasure of being a patient at. The staff are fantastic and so very kind.
