Econsult never works and impossible to get a face to face GP appointment and why are the staff who answer the appointments phone line allowed to advise on medical conditions, are they medically trained or just trying to prevent patients from seeing a doctor? I was told by said staff to take over the counter medication which turned out to be totally the wrong advice.

Seems like it's a flawed system to make an appointment you have to call at 8am and hope that they can fit you in - surely would be better for patients to call and book in advance I don't have a car and need to catch a bus so timings are reliant on bus times. Having moved back to the UK from overseas staggered by how difficult it is too get to see a doctor - I don't think this is representive of the whole of the UK - my family don't have issues in Yorkshire. There must a be a better system

I have been trying for a week to get an appointment. The telephone lines open at 8am and I am generally driving for work at that time. However, today I managed to get through to the waiting queue. At 8.04am I was number 26 in the queue. As I was waiting I tried to log on to econsult to see if I could arrange an appointment faster that way, only to find 'the practice was not accepting internet requests'. This practice is doing a fine job of keeping patients away!

Unbelievably poor service, i request a repeat prescription on 24/8 for my statin and blood pressure medication you only approve the statin and i took my last tablet today and when I phone up you are closed for training! This is beyond parody!

4 weeks for blood tests when feeling ill. Simply not acceptable. Then waiting more weeks to discuss the abnormal blood tests, which you then choose to ignore because you follow your own local guidelines and not National guidelines. Patient centred care at its worst.

trying to fill and pick up prescriptions, never mind booking an appointment is awful-prescriptions change without notice, are discontinued without notice, you have to go in and queue, discussing your business for all and sundry to here. You are sent from the pharmacy back to reception who then get up and go back to the pharmacy, you get half a prescription. You fill in forms that are ignored. You cant book an appointment for love nor money or book in advance if you actually work or live a long way away- absolutely appalling- just dont need the doctors is my advice!

20.10.22 alnwick medical continues to be absolutely rubbish-you are always given less repeat prescriptions than you should have-constant phone calls to get things sorted where they tell you something on the phone and dont do it-they put things on your records you have never discussed when in the surgery so I guess it's some tick box exercise-you're called in for appointments you dont need or are months too early for reviews-seriously this is the worst run drs I have had in my very very long life
october 2024-alnwick medical still appalling-batch prescriptions still not sent to dispensing chemists leaving gaps with no medication for months-no contact with patients despite letters; frustrating and ultimately having an adverse effect on peoples health! just angry and frustrated nowadays

I appreciate that the people in the practice are probably overwhelmed, especially during the winter months, but the situation is so grave that I wish they could acknowledge the total collapse of their system and try to reorganise. It is close to impossible to actually make a face to face appointment with a GP unless you fake something life threatening. I have tried a few times with econsult but you go through a series of questions (if you are lucky to find the system "available"), then you are shifted a few more days for a response, then a few more for a GP to call you at an unspecified time, which you might miss, then you are given some advice that you can probably find online, then you wait for months for a follow up, and start all over again .... I have seen other reviews complaining about the same issue and apologies offered by the practice but frankly I do not think that they are realising the despair and sense of abandonment that their patients experience.

New to the surgery and can honestly say my experiences have been nothing but positive. Reception staff very helpful in sorting NHS app log ins for me. The young Nurse is always so lovely after seeing her for a few appointments and I think the Econsults are great! Thank you so much.
