I’ve been a patient at Elm House surgery all my life and it used to be superb but the Anima booking service is not fit for purpose and it seems impossible to book appointments. Patients having to rely on Urgent Care and A and E departments. I ended up waiting on the phone for 30 minutes until a very kind receptionist Kim managed to make a referral for me.

Yesterday was my first time using the new Anima app. For me personally, it worked brilliantly. I had an eye issue but also had badly sprained my ankle, so would have struggled to get to the surgery. This method of giving detailed responses in the app, together with a photo of the issue, was just what I needed.
I was called back within an hour by a lovely nurse who was so caring and helpful. Not only were antibiotics issued, I was also given other helpful advice, which I really was grateful for.
Having got a friend to collect the prescription, today my eye is already so much better already. Doesn’t look like I’ve been in a boxing ring any longer!
I can see a lot of frustration on the reviews over the new system and, as always, it will always come down to your individual experience, but for me the system worked flawlessly. I got what I needed quickly and didn’t take up a valuable doctor’s appointment in person, which someone who would have needed it more than me could then have.
I have always found all the staff at the surgery wonderful, helpful, polite and caring and this was my experience yet again.
Thanks Elm House!

I have a new chronic health condition which is taking a lot of time getting used to both mentally and physically.
Some doctors here are lovely. Nurse Maria really helped me recently as no medication seems to be working and I took up so much of her time but she didn’t rush me or force me out the door and even followed up with me after being in a bad way.
I’ve started seeing DR curry who so far has been nothing but supportive and helpful while waiting for answers from my referrals.
The only downside to this practice is Anima it’s ridiculous if you are in pain and can’t call to make an appointment and then find out no more requests can be put through I seem to find this is after 12pm. It’s a complete waste of time as the questions don’t even feel relevant to what you’re actually going through.

The triage system is disjointed, unethical and create poor medical care . It is hard to use , the illnesses are lost between words of the self assessment. Elderly patients are not supported . The gps don’t have sufficient time to read the medical notes and provide a continuity of care . We are moving to an other surgery . I do not recommend it .

I have been with Elm House Surgery for 40 years and have always been extremely happy with the professional, caring and efficient service. However since Anima has been in operation this has completely changed. I have been unable to see a registered GP or receive satisfactory treatment.
The anima system is not user friendly is repetitive and non sequential in its questioning.
The receptionists are wonderful and try their best to help. I realise that the practice is extremely busy but I think the system will force people to go to A&E which is exactly what the NHS is trying to avoid. Please review the situation.

Appointment system is an absolute joke! I tried to make an appointment on Anima at 7:58am, but it states no appointments until 8am. I did the school run and at 8:30 tried to book an appointment on Anima but it states no appointment left today and to try again tomorrow morning. I have been trying to get an appointment for a week now!! As I said, this is a joke!!

I tried to register at Cator Surgery (good reviews) and they registered me at Elm House (bad reviews) instead without telling me. It’s taken me 3 months to figure out where I’m registered. They had no plans to tell me. I’m astonished. What about patient choice?

Elm House Surgery is now a nightmare to deal with - starting from trying to book an appointment with the Anima app, trying to speak with reception (takes 2-3 minutes just to finish monologue on phone) to getting referrals etc. Recently been referred to specsavers and have been told the referrals team is running two weeks behind - first of all takes ages to get a routine appointment, than weeks to get referrals, than another eek or so book appointment for referral - what a nightmare. I appeal to the Doctors running this service (especially Dr Reddy who is great) to please look into the service provided by Elm House - residents of beckenham do not deserve this. Service has fallen down a cliff in the last 6 months.
