Gorgeous day for our spa day. The outside of the building is stunning and the drive up.
The gym facilities are good, not huge but I wouldn’t expect a huge gym in a hotel/spa.
The spa facilities are plenty and good sizes.
It didn’t get too busy when we thought it would.
Very relaxing day.
The only thing that let it down for us was the lunch time.
We waited 50 minutes for our main meal. And when we made them aware that we had waited that long, we didn’t get any apology we just got told that the waiter had already asked the kitchen which we were a bit disappointed by.
Lunch was nice but it was too long. We never got asked if we would like any other drinks either.
But on the whole a lovely day. I would return and hope for better with the meal times.

Visited here a couple of months ago for the evening taster and what we received was extremely poor. When we arrived we were told that the bar was closing at 6pm as they had no staff to run the bar. Changing rooms smelt of sewage followed by a strong smell of chlorine all through the spa. We were due to eat at around 6pm, only to find the was no table set up for us and no one to serve us drinks. When we left at around 9pm there was no one on the desk, tobacco found in the sinks, dirty floors. The whole experience was a joke and I beg people to consider booking elsewhere before paying premium prices for this place.

Arrived at 3pm and had treatments booked for 6pm. The spa was heavily over crowded, there were no beds and we were just awkwardly wandering round for an hour - we asked reception if treatments could be brought forward so we could leave sooner but was told no one is available. Later ended up asking for a refund on the treatments so we could just leave completely, which is when management then stepped in and had someone go round removing towels. We then got a bed but it was painful watching so many other people also struggle to find somewhere! The spa treatment itself was nice and the therapists were friendly. Wouldn’t return and absolutely wouldn’t recommend.

Went for my first spa day with my wife and won’t be going back. It very tired and need of updating, and when you point things out to staff they just shrug and say ‘I know’. We were supposed to spend the day with lunch but after a breakfast buffet of undrinkable coffee, lukewarm water for tea and pastries that come out of plastic wraps and 70% of lockers in the changing rooms broken, the sauna door being held closed with a cardboard wedge and tepid water in the pools we left at 10:30 never to return .

Firstly after reading some reviews I was hesitant, however it really was quite good... so pleasantly surprised.

THE SPA:
The spa was nice, big enough with different pools , saunas etc.. and a nice outdoor area with loungers etc.. it was a relaxing environment...imagine it gets busy at the weekend however. You can join classes for a small fee and enjoy a three course lunch, dinner allowance and breakfast!

Although some things were closed for repair, again these things happen..more than enough open for use.

THE TREATMENTS:
Although good, they have a higher price than most..I don't think it's essential to get a treatment...just enjoy the spa.

THE HOTEL:
Our room was ok, as expected really. All you need, a little dated but Champneys had been around for a while. The doors do slam so bring ear plugs.

THE FOOD:
The food was really nice and displayed elegantly and all the staff seemed great and look ..mistakes happen, orders sometimes can be missed in a busy kitchen, that's just life!

I think the main reason for the bad reviews are possibly they arrive with an unrealistic expectation for the price? It is expensive but it's a big hotel and lots of people to attend to, golfers, corporate and weddings. Check in can be busy as only a small space.

My main if only real criticism of the spa area was that although it opens early at 7.00am when we came the day after around 9.30am there were still empty drinks and glasses from the night before. I would have expected to arrive to a clean spa before it opened.

Always a lovely experience, great staff, great views, cake and drinks lovely. The hot tubs inside could do with a proper clean/ replacement- which is the only reason for not giving 5 starts

I have recently reached the grand old age of 80 and my relatives sent me a £350 voucher for Mottram Hall. I live in Stockport and I thought of visiting Mottram Hall and getting some good information what I can get for £350. As I don't drive I went by train to Prestbury and walked the rest of the way, I wasn't prepared for a pedestrian unfriendly road, I walked across various fields for part of the way, it think it was 2M. As I reached the Hall they couldn't really help me. I don't think it was their fault, I believe you are all totally paperless and being oldfashioned I was hoping to get something in print. So, I didn't really get much information but was given the Central Reservation telephone number to call them when I have decided what to book. I was told that the prices vary a lot from day to day. So, I walked back to Prestbury station and caught the train back to Stockport. Michelle Helps from Stockport

Beautiful place shame about the spa come back from lunch with my friends and someone was sat on my bed they had thrown my stuff on the floor when I said your sat on my bed I was abused by loads of guests stating if I leave my bed someone can have it I said I've been for lunch they said the manager put my stuff on the floor and let someone else have it everyone was disgusting and bitchy no communication what so ever noone knows what there doing they got the meals mixed up too what a shame for a Beautiful hotel
