My mother suffers with dementia. She spent 20 months, between 2017 and 2019, residing in the dementia unit at St Michael's Court, during which time her needs were never adequately met. As time went on, niggling doubts became grave concerns. In spite of paperwork stating that my mother's personal hygiene needs were being met, there was clear indisputable evidence that was not in fact happening.
When concerns were reported to the Manager, they were treated with patronising indifference. Staff on the Unit changed constantly so there was no continuity of care, little familiarity and poor communication.
My mother is in excellent physical health with strength and full independent mobility yet there was no exercise or physical activity ever. Then far more serious concerns of neglect became evident, yet still nothing was done. I was advised by a medical professional to report the situation to CQC, but by the time I did, others had got there first and the Inspectors had already found the Home "Inadequate in all areas". Report dated January 2019. Reports in the press quoted staff as stating residents were constantly left in their own waste and there was an on going lack of food.
I have since moved my mother to a far, far better Care Home where, for the same fees, she is receiving attentive, thorough and respectful care .. in the true sense of the word.

Disgusting lack of dignity and respect, my grandmother died with the worst urine burns and pressure sores due to complete lack of basic care and staff/ management lack of understanding of dementia, I was told by a member of the nursing team my grandmother wasn't in pain because dementia isn't painful. Cqc informed on several occasions and nothing done.
Inadequate is an understatement

Excellent place if you’ve got dementia.
Not so if you’ve got capacity. Regardless you are in safe hands here- the staff are very qualified and know how deal with any situation.

Not even worth one star, I would rather slit my wrists than spend a day in that awful place. We got our mum out after her traumatic stay and refused to pay the fees
