If I could give this place less than 1 star... I would. For a place that is suppose to be a "mental health hospital", it's done nothing but made my mental health WORSE. Utterly appalling outpatient care, including initially wrongly diagnosing, doctors always seemingly on holiday and being generally unavailable instead of making sure the prescriptions and medical reviews are scheduled in advance (my Dr has had 4 secretaries in 18 months which speaks volumes to me), not having answers for important questions and saying "google it". And what's worse.. it's private health care therefore you automatically expect better than the NHS, you expect a premium service because you're paying a disgusting amount of money for it out of pure desperation but going down this path for my autism/ADHD diagnosis has been the biggest regret.

My daughter has spent several long periods at The Priory and has always been extremely well looked after by the nursing and welfare staff who have communicated with me at all times. Dr Andersson has helped her greatly.

Useless doctors, spent more time googling medication and doseages than speaking with my brother in an appointment that cost almost £200. No care, attention, concern or assistance, and importantly, no safeguarding referral. My brother died under the care of this disgusting 'service' DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE WITH POOR MENTAL HEALTH.

Dr Craig Andersson of Priory Chelmsford prescribed me a dangerous medication & made me aware that it could send me to hospital in a life-threatening condition. Worst decision of my life, I took the risk.

I started getting rashes soon which were typical warning signs, I was having fevers and feeling sick. I showed him, MULTIPLE TIMES, he dismissed this and told me to go to my GP. I ended up in a full body rash, my body was swollen up and rushed to hospital in the middle of the night. I spent the next two weeks terribly ill in hospital. The skin of my whole body peeled off head to toe. I contracted a mouth infection so I was unable to eat. Spiking constant fevers that could not be controlled by medication. My legs and feet were like balloons filled with fluid from the allergic reaction. I could not walk for days. The NHS hospital I was admitted to were barely able to get in touch with Craig Andersson at the time.

It took 6 long months to recover although I never fully recovered. My whole body itched terribly every moment during the recovery period. Now I suffer from other health complications as a result of the initial allergic reaction which might be life long. I also dropped out of university and start studying a different degree elsewhere, the allergic reaction was one of the reasons why. No accountability or genuine remorse was shown by Craig Andersson or by Priory. His colleagues covered for him when I complained to the GMC.

I was admitted to Chelmsford Priory around late 2019 and it was most definitely one of the most traumatising out of my admissions. When I arrived from being transferred from another unit I was greeted by hearing patients screaming which already wasn't the best sign however it only got worse throughout my admission, I was first placed in an upstairs bedroom which I had to be moved from due to my safety risks however the room I moved to after that was freezing cold and I had to sleep with my coat on all night. During the first few days of my admission I was struggling considerably with my food intake however staff dismissed it as a problem and continued to let me deteriorate in health, the only times staff seemed to care was when my blood sugars were far too low and I would be sent to general hospital and would eat a small snack and go back to the unit again, this was an ongoing cycle for a couple of weeks until one of the staff members who genuinely cared about us all stepped in and phoned the manager of the ward who was on holiday during this time, I was eventually having to be NG fed but if that staff member didn't step in I don't think I'd be here today.
Further into my admission I was having some incidents at times but staff over used medication, my community support team admitted that I always looked devoid of life and like a zombie because of how much medication I had been given. Other patients also were being given high doses of medication and sometimes even been overdosed.
Staff members would say harmful and triggering comments during incidents and hurt patients when they got restrained due to restraining us incorrectly or with too much violence.
During one incident where me and another patient were involved the nurse in charge told other staff members to leave us to harm ourselves as we were still breathing so we were fine, one another occasion staff left a patient who had swallowed dangerous objects and also wouldn't check us for contraband items making the ward unsafe due to us having items such as glass and extra medication.
On a few occasions I had used my clothing to harm myself and staff had left me in either ripped and ruined clothing or left me in my underwear when male staff were on the unit and also had to check on me.
I am thankful the unit got flooded and I had to be transferred because it was a living nightmare .
Me and many other patients have suffered and have trauma from this hospital.
