I have been staying at Home Farm 2-3 times per month for the past 6 months so this 'review' is an amalgamation of numerous stays. ||The house is located in a quintessential English country setting, down a quiet lane, overlooking the village cricket green. The impressive red-brick Georgian front of the house belies the fact that it is really an extension to the original house which must date from Tudor times, all the features of which can be seen from the rear and the interior. Inside, the hosts, Melanie & Peter, have carried out an excellent job of segregating the B&B part of the house from their quarters, so that one can come and go whenever one pleases without having to consider disturbing anybody. The main wood-beamed lounge/sitting room is quite abundant, with an enormous open fireplace, serves as the breakfast room as well. There is everything that one needs, whether it's for breakfast or if you've brought a takeaway evening meal back. The continental breakfast offering and choice is more than sufficient and there is always the option of having a cooked breakfast as well (for a small supplement). On warmer days there is always the option of dining, or just relaxing, al-fresco in the mature rear garden. ||I've been fortunate to have stayed in/sampled most of the rooms and my favourites are the larger en-suite rooms. That's not a complaint - I'm a tall person (you have to duck in some of the rooms due to the low beams), usually with a few bags & computers and I like my space and enjoy taking my time easing into the day in the morning, so I wouldn't like to think I'm 'taking a long time in the shared bathroom!' :-)||All the rooms are very comfortable, tastefully decorated and stocked, with well-appointed, superb bedding, lots of pillows, duvets, quilts, towels and face cloths. There are tea/coffee-making facilities and plenty of water and fresh milk. If you like history, like me, you will appreciate staying in the older rooms, with numerous period features - exposed timber frames and beams, uneven floors, original latched windows and plenty of character.||Melanie & Peter (or one of their deputies) are excellent hosts - if I've ever needed anything, I've just asked and it's been dealt with. They balance seeking genuine assurance that you're comfortable, settled and don't have any questions with leaving you alone to do as you please.||Has anything ever gone wrong - yes (this is an old house and is to be expected), but it's been dealt with and I've never stopped apologising for spilling red wine on a bed cover and carpet on my first stay and they still had me back!||In my opinion, it's a splendid B&B in the perfect location for me - my office is in the Milton Park development. When I compare what I would have to pay for a hotel in the area I'd rather forgo the frequent stayer points and stay somewhere cozy, in a house of character, that I have got to know, obtain more personal attention from excellent & knowledgeable hosts, have somewhere to park, that is safe and that is a short walk to the village, where there are a choice of pubs and dining options. It's a shame one can't give fractions of a score as I would mark it as a 4.5.

The owners of Home Farm House, Peter and Melanie, were very welcoming and friendly. Access to our room was not easy with very steep shallow stairs (probably to be expected in a old property) but this could be made easier if the loose rope handrail was replaced with a rigid banister. Disappointingly, the room was smaller than expected and there was nowhere for our clothes apart from a bar fixed to the wall with hangers on it and an office desk with very small drawers in which you really couldn't fit very much. The peaceful location and extremely comfortable bed ensured a good night's sleep.I liked that there was no set time to eat continental breakfast, everything was laid out for guests to help themselves when ready with an excellent choice of cereals, granola, fruit, yogurts, a selection of breads for toast, jams and marmalade, fruit juices, teas and coffee. A cooked breakfast was also available if desired at an small extra charge.

I stayed here 3 nights a week for 17 months. Probably says enough. Lovely old house, popular with business people during the week, in a nice quiet village. Melanie and Peter are lovely friendly hosts, nothing too much trouble. Felt very much a home from home. Comfy beds, cosy rooms free wifi. Can't comment on the cooked breakfast, but a great selection for the continental. Very good price for the area too. Village is easily accessible to the A34, Milton Park, Abingdon and has a couple of nice pubs, good bus link to oxford. Will be my first call if ever in the area. Highly recommended.

If you want a peaceful getaway in an idyllic country home look no further. Home Farm House is a beautiful, family run BnB, with everything you need for an escape to the countryside. Mel and Peter are so friendly and cater to your every need. The bedroom and en-suit were immaculate and spacious and the cooked breakfast delicious. Lots to do in the area from great pubs to long walks. Highly recommend, and great price too! We're looking forward to our next stay.

It is very convenient choice if you need to stay near RAL for more than few days and less than a 6 months (usually minimum time to rent a flat). I stayed in the Stable conversation room which has it's own kitchen and refrigerator and bathroom, they change the linens and clean the room very often. It doesn't have laundry machine but you can make an arragement with the owners to have your clothes washed at a very convenient price. It is well connected to Oxford, though a bit far (40 mins by bus), it's definetely well connected to Didcot by bus (20 mins) where you can catch a train to London Paddington in about 45 mins, it's also near Abingdon (25 mins by bus). The RAL can be reach by the "34" bus but you have to be careful with the schedule times. There's only one Co-operative but it's very well-stocked and you will find a big Sainsbury's at Didcot. Steventon is a really quiet place and near the farm you'll find the pubs with wide offer of drink and food. I spent 2 months in the Stable room, very good stay there.

We returned to Home Farm House last October as we have family in the area. We booked again with Melanie and Peter as we had so enjoyed our first visit. This time did not not disappoint. Our bed was really comfortable and the house was warm and welcoming which was so appreciated as the weather outside was awful! We had a delicious breakfast in the morning and our hosts gave us plenty of ideas on how to spend a couple of hours before our family gathering. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

The area is quiet, facing onto the village cricket pitch and has good access to both Milton park and the Rutherford Appleton Labs at Harwell. ||There are also plenty of places to eat locally of an evening.||||Mel and Peter not only provide a warm welcome, but will always stop for a chat and offer a service above and beyond many B&Bs. Rooms are comfortable and the property has lots of character. When I visit the office, this is now my top of choice.

I stayed here for 3 days a week for several months for work reasons. It is a very friendly place with many people who work part time in the area choosing to stay several days a week on a long term basis. The garden is beautiful and nice to sit out in the summer. There's also a cosy lounge. The house is a 2 minute walk from Steventon village centre which has 2 nice pubs, both of which do food and a good Indian restaurant. There's also a medium sized Co-Op store there.
