Got treated for a dog bite at urgent care. Though there were a lot people there waiting, the receptionist was helpful and doctor was very nice with answering my questions. From registration to treatment, the process took about 3 hours.

Visited Beckenham Beacon after a severe foot injury at 12:30 and was given paracetamol before being left to wait for hours. After four and a half hours in pain, I was finally seen, only to be told—predictably—that I needed an x-ray. Considering a brick had fallen on my foot, it was obvious an x-ray was necessary from the start. Why this wasn’t done in the hours I waited is beyond me.

To be fair, the staff seemed to be trying, but they were clearly overwhelmed, under-resourced and struggling to keep up with the demand. The facilities themselves are nowhere near adequate for the volume of patients they’re expected to handle. Elderly patients and young children were forced to wait in distress for hours, with little to no communication on when we’d be seen. Some people were even advised to seek help elsewhere—hardly reassuring after such a long wait.

Beckenham Beacon feels less like a healthcare facility and more like a chaotic holding pen. The NHS claims to uphold a duty of care, yet this place fails spectacularly to meet even basic standards. It’s disheartening to see the staff stretched so thin and patients left without adequate support.

Extremely rude staff (including triage nurse and receptionist), they behave like doing you a favour by speaking to you, so much ego! was seen quick, which was good. excellent doctor and brilliant ECG nurse.

Was at Urgent Treatment Unit

Apt reception (if no queue)
Not so crowded seating area
Children under 18 are allowed ONLY 1 parent/guardian (overly insistent on that)

Good service overall

Don’t forget to take safety precautions as others might require more “urgent treatment” than you do!

I was seen in good time, considering how busy it was. The GP was a breath of fresh air, so empathetic and helpful. I wish my GP’s were this useful! Very efficient at the reception too. Thank you for your help.

Awful service. My 3 year old son had an infected finger and was told by the local pharmacy to go to Beckenham Beacon to see a doctor. We arrived at 2.30pm. The triage nurse was very rude and dismissive, rolling her eyes and saying he didn’t need to be there. Why work in a job providing care when she seemed so disinterested? I said we’d been told to attend and he’d had the same thing before and had needed antibiotics. After an hour, I took my son to the nearby park as he was restless. When we left, the receptionist said we were 9th on the queue. We returned an hour later to be told we were tenth on the queue. We left and will try to get an appointment elsewhere. We understand services are stretched but it was awful, from the timings to how we were spoken to.

0 star. This Urgent Care needs to fire the entire staff who work in the front office. The receptionists are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, NO COMPASSION, and LAZY. Some of the doctors are unprofessional and lack empathy for their patients. The wait time is ridiculously long and you’re told at times after waiting for several hours that you cannot be seen because they’re getting ready to close. No matter what time you get there the receptionists look as if they do not want to be there (ALL OF THEM) if you do not want to work then quit. They lack empathy and compassion towards the patients and should not be in the medical profession. The doctors need to be more respectful in the way they speak to the patients as well, they talk to you as if you’re wasting their time, they do not listen. The only respectful employee so far is Alvin Nurse Practitioner. It’s employee’s like these who give the NHS system a bad reputation. Yet you see them protesting for better pay and they sit on their @$$ doing nothing while the patients sit in the waiting room suffering for hours. Shameful!!

Better than GB but we had to wait for two and half hours before we could be attended to. You have to pay for packing about 3pounds for 2 hours
