Cannot praise Douglas Bank Nursing Home enough! My Husband has recently moved into there and is receiving excellent care by all the staff who are so very caring and professional. Nothing is too much trouble and I feel so much better knowing he is being looked after so well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Nursing Home to anyone. My heartfelt thanks to John Holland and each and every one of the staff. Xx

I'm writing this on behalf of my family who highly recommend Douglas Bank. My grandma, Edith, suffered a stroke in 2013 and spent 3 months in hospital, following which it was recommended that she continue her care in a nursing home, due to her needing 24 hour care.

Prior to this event, she was very active and independent and so she took a little time to settle into Douglas Bank, however throughout this process the staff were very patient and helpful, to the point where my grandma did indeed settle and became very at home, there.

Any questions we had were dealt with very promptly, and always with my grandma's wellbeing at the forefront. Our family always felt very welcome and looked forward to taking part in the activities that were organised on a regular basis for the residents. In fact, we became friendly with several of the residents and staff, and since my grandma sadly passed away in October 2019, we have still been made to feel welcome to visit.

Reading the reviews and leaving my mum who can't speak English in douglas Bank May 2019 not only I was very worried, I lost a lot of sleep over it. But didn't take long to find out that I was wrong, however, not only most of the staff treated my mum with kindness and dignity, went above and beyond what was required of them to help. Due to language problem my mum never wanted to stay in any care home and again due to language problem none of the care home she stayed with made her feel good and comfortable but douglas bank not only got to know her routines but also made her feel comfortable, My biggest regret that I moved her to preston so that she will be close to me. I am so thankful and my gratitude to the staff specially the manager Catherine, jo the nurse used to be deputy manager, sue, Jackie and Julie night staff who looked after my mum during her stay.

My father spent some time here in convalescence whilst his apartment got sorted. I must admit, after reading the reviews, I was very worried! However, the staff treated him with kindness and dignity, and in a tricky housing situation, went above and beyond what was required of them to help. A big thank you to the staff who looked after him during his stay!

My Dad lived here for over a year until he passed away on the 5th January. It was slightly better than a home he had previously been in, but things were constantly going missing and getting broken. There was always food mess that should have been cleared and wasn't.. On his passing, members of staff said they would attend his funeral and nobody from the home did so. This was very disappointing

Would give it no stars but not an option. My mum spent 3 months here and died. It was 3yrs ago but reading the recent reviews doesn't seem to have changed. We reported it to CQC who put it into special measues. Had lots of meetings with CQC and safeguarding commission who upheld all our complaints. Awful place. Wouldn't put my dog in there. Had new ownership since and new staff but from recent reviews looks much the same

Shocking place. I have reported it to the CQC and actions have been put in place. Residents are at risk here. All my points in my complaint were all substantiated in the final report after the investigation . A safeguarding review is taking place. Its too late for my mum but hopefully residents will be protected whilst under investigation. Go to another home especially if your family member suffers from dementia. See the report in the Wigan Observor today and i am happy to share my report findings with anyone
