So I collect a blood test referral letter.. I call the phone number printed on the letter to book a blood test. When I eventually get through from Beckenham Beacon to Orpington to Princess Royal there is or has been 'apparently' a cyber attack so there are only emergency blood tests and I have to wait 4 weeks for a routine test. I then try 6 times to call Cornerways Surgery to ask them why they failed to let me know that there is this wait. When I am explaining the amount of calls (17 in total) to the obnoxious and rude receptionist who constantly interupts me when I explaining she then tells me there is no cyber attack anymore.
How can this be when I have made 17 calls spoke to 6 different people in hospitals only to be told there has been a cyber attack and I have to wait? Who is wrong in this issue?
The rude receptionist then tells she will end the call because ' I am rude'.
This clear proof that the NHS is broken,,, the staff in the NHS are confused and or inept or just dumb... Either way none of what has happened has helped me book an appointment to have a blood test.... this and other issues proves what a shambles Cornerways Surgery is!

Always very helpful reception staff. It’s not an easy job and they do well. I saw one lovely lady on reception the other day on her own and she was answering the phone and dealing with a queue of people at the desk. She was very polite and managed very well.
I’ve got 3 girls and the last few months have unfortunately had to call up a few times with them all one after the other being ill, always dealt with very well and friendly and put on the duty list. I have called up in the past for other things non urgent and had to wait 2-3 weeks for an appointment, but it’s not urgent and it’s not really that long to have to wait. It is the NHS. People’s expectations are sky high and expect things now now now! People really should be more realistic. The doctors at this surgery are brilliant too! Very thorough.
Great surgery. Been with them 10 years and always had good service.

Requests are generally attended to quickly, but reception staff could do with some Communication training. I called today as I missed a call from the doctor and the receptionist kept talking over me without letting me explain what I was calling for, so I had to ask her three times to let me talk (let alone finish). Eventually I got what I needed. Thank you.
I understand that service staff is always under pressure but so is a patient, waiting for a phone appointment for over 2 weeks. Basic phone/comms skills should be refreshed regularly.

Better to avoid

Called for an urgent request re blood test on Feb 15 as the blood test form issued from GP is missing one critical item. Reception told me the doctor will be available on March xx without even trying to understand what it is about.

It is not the first time with the messed up tests, not to mention the lack of human touch. The only doctor that is trying to help is Dr. Berman

For those who are curious about the efficiency of the place. I had to wait for 10mins to collect my blood test form although I was the only one waiting at the reception and no call was in at that time.

The whole practice just gives the impression of unprofessional and is indeed unprofessional

I have been a patient at the surgery for many years and have received amazing service throughout that time.
Dr Norton (before he retired )treated my long term health issues with concern, respect and courtesy at all times. I have dealt with Drs Rogers, Kerr and Berman more recently and they have worked very hard to expedite my referrals to other parts of the NHS as a matter of urgency. The reception staff have been equally amazing. I think if any of us spoke to as many sick and frustrated people on the phone as they do every day we'd find it very hard indeed. I was frustrated about the lack of face to face appointments at first. What I have learned is that the telephone system works and it works well.
I recently called in for a face to face and told the receptionist what was wrong and was initially given an appointment in 4 weeks time. Hours later after the Dr had seen the notes they called back and said they'd see me two days later.
I now understand that under-resourced NHS GP's can deal with more patients under this system than before. I also understand that if there is something SERIOUSLY wrong you won't have to wait long.
These people need our support not bad reviews. They are literally doing everything they can to help everyone.

Really good experience with the new GP (I am not sure how to spell his name). He was so good and absolutely lovely with our toddler! Was very thorough when checking our son, last week. His plan and support helped us proactively manage my son’s problem. To be honest, we’ve always had a great experience with the other doctor’s, nurses and reception staff too.

I attended the Princess royal for a shoulder x Ray, the nurse says it looks like tenditis of the shoulder. Wait for over a month for call from cornerways surgery, no call. I ring them and they tell me its a no news is good news scenario. Well, I must be imagining the pain in my shoulder, which I had for over 3 years. It's basically pay all your taxes like a good boy and go away type scenario. If I was an immigrant I would be given everything on the house.

Dr Rogers and Dr Kerr lovely. Unfortunately most practice staff are rude and unhelpful. Practically impossible to get an appointment( virtual- even worse for face to face), still hiding behind mostly virtual care, often tell people to go to urgent care services instead which is such a misuse of other nhs services. They are happy to get paid for the amount of people registered with their practice but don't seem to have the infrastructure or inclination to actually care for them
