I registered with Cator Medical Centre a few of weeks ago using their online form. As we’ve just moved to the area and I am pregnant and close to my due date it was important this was done quickly. I noted my pregnancy on the application form. Having not heard from them, but having heard from my previous GP that my notes had been transferred, I called today to find out if I had been registered or not. I was told (a) I had not been registered with their practice, but with a different practice (Elm House) that the NHS website confirms I am not in the catchment area for and which I did not ask to be registered with and (b) they have no system either at Cator or Elm House for informing new patients that they are registered. The receptionist seemed baffled as to why they should inform patients of this information, and told me I cannot shift to be registered with Cator, even though their website and the NHS GP finder both say they are still open to new patients, and that is where I wanted to be registered in the first place. As a result of this lack of communication I have missed the opportunity to have an important vaccination (RSV) before my due date. The practice can and should do better.

Astonished to see this rated 3 stars. It is a phenomenal surgery, offering everything from urgent care to physiotherapy. The GP practices are exceptional. You will always get an appointment thanks to their excellent triage system, Anima. The linked pharmacy is efficient and hardly ever closes. Keep going!

Pathetic excuse of a surgery patronising GP who make assumptions before even vetting you. Staff deflect so they do not need to assist you if you can not be bothered don't come in to work the decline of the practice which I have been going to for years is so disappointing I hope this new government stomp out these behaviours made normal by the previous. Although I can not tar everyone with the same brush I am so disappointed in the disrespect. staff like Tressa keep my faith in people I hope this practice sort it out very degrading experience going here would not recommend it to anyone.

This is not about the staff, who are all great, but the Anima triage system they are now using.

First off, before Anima, I would never have to wait more than a few days when calling to make an appointment. First time on Anima, for something that needed some urgency, it gave me an appointment two weeks and 2 days hence. Not impressed, so called up and got to see a nurse the next day.

Turned up for the appointment, which it had given me, only to find that it had been cancelled by someone, without notification to me and while still showing on their Anima system.

Granted this system is new, so there may be teething problems, I worked in IT for 40 years so I know that's to be expected. However, given that it's an appointment booking system, the use cases around cancellations are so fundamental to its functioning properly that I wonder if it's been properly tested? Bizarre. Anyhow, a wasted journey and a very apologetic staff member on reception prompted me to comment.

As I say, staff great, but make sure that new systems are properly tested.

The senior partner and the practice manager breach the confidentiality and all rules of the GDPR-UK(5,6,21 for sure) - unable to heal anybody ....now it turned out: they can not even read.......Have allergy-?Don't have allergy ? The medical record had the answer since 2013 - but these supersonics do not read medical record .Rather prescribed something, which harmed more than anything else. The hospital requested them constantly controll the blood pressure , review the medications -Cator rejected to do it ... I went to my new GP, GP found dangerous high blood pressure .Strange - this GP was good once, before 2022 - but all good practitioner left the place. The only one who stayed(dr CH) -terrible ...The rude reception staff is just their added service on the poor performance

I saw Dr Gemma Ball for an ongoing problem that I recently spent over 3 hours in urgent care for, with no answers. She was sympathetic, reassuring and gave me all possible diagnoses and checked I understood. I felt she listened to how this was impacting my mental and physical health and took the necessary action. Within ten minutes, I’d been referred to physio, ultrasound and given a new prescription; I could have cried with relief. Thank you for being so lovely and helpful, you are amazing at your job.

My mum is a patient here, receptionists can be a little hit and miss with their empathy for sick people unable to gain appointments. However, I have recently had to call the surgery numerous times and have to say, every person I have spoken to has been very polite and most helpful, have to mention Kate on reception - very caring and helpful. Also, Dr Bailey is absolutely brilliant, interested in the actual patients rather than just getting you in and out as fast as possible. Please can he stay long term!? All in all, Mum’s had pretty good care at this surgery.

Stopped prescribing my testosterone after saying they would carry on knowing the costs and effects it would have on. If your trans and need a shared care agreement with a GP go to GP at hand
