Appointments for a GP can only be booked on the day, and open at 8am. There are 3 ways you can book, online, over the phone, and in person. If for whatever reason you can't use online, you're out of luck.

Two days on the trot I've been ready at 8am sharp and even had a receptionist over the phone offer me a slot and it was sniped before I could say yes. They are unable to offer you a slot that's not a month in advance in these cases. If your issue is urgent, please wait for death, or buy an iPhone and get the app.

Got told that I should just need a phone call for my issue, and they've offered me an "out of hours" call service at 2:37pm. I need blood tests. Thank God medicine has progressed so far they can extract my blood via telecoms.

Update: the out of hours service called over 90 minutes late on a private number, asked them to call me back in 5 minutes, they never did. Called their reception, was on hold for over 20 minutes before the call dropped.

Our health services are some of the worst in Europe, our tax money is wasted, and clinics like this are part of the problem.

Terrible Service and Lack of Urgency!

I had a really frustrating experience with De Montfort Surgery. I submitted my online registration to transfer my GP from Cardiff on 23rd September 2024, but after waiting for weeks, I called them after 10th October, they told me that I wasn’t registered yet! When I asked for records of my previous calls (since this delay impacted my job), they quickly registered me on the spot and scheduled an appointment.

Fast forward to today, 23rd October, I had to call an ambulance due to a serious health issue. The paramedics advised me to get a blood test as soon as possible. However, when I tried to book the appointment with the GP for a blood test, they told me I’d have to wait until DECEMBER! How is that acceptable? This is a health sector, not Amazon, where you wait months for a delivery! It’s absolutely ridiculous and shows a complete lack of care for patients.

The service here is total rubbish. I wouldn’t recommend this surgery to anyone who values their health or time.

First of all they could not book an appointment with GP when I got sick, as they did not had appointment slots available already, but I did call 8am as it has requested from me. However, they booked for me phone appointment, like that would help me somehow... Even phone has been booked, no one phoned me, but appointment on the NHS app has been shown as finished. Terrible service, just allowing people's symptoms to get worse instead of helping them. Looks like taking more patients for funding, disgusting. Have no clue why I am paying national insurance if I am not able to be seen by the docyor when I become ill!!!

Good look getting an appointment. It was genuinely easier when there was a sit and wait arrangement to see a GP even though, at times, the wait would be a few hours. I've now been trying to get an appointment for more than a week using the app but not once have any been available. Have tried calling and while the automated message says only those in a vulnerable group may arrange appointments outside of the app it doesn't matter because the call wait times were so long I've simply given up. Has not been a great surgery for as long as I've been registered with them but just keeps getting worse. Can no longer even say the care once seeing someone is good because can't get in

I have been a patient at De Montfort Surgery for many years, and I can confidently say it is the best medical practice I have ever experienced. From the very first visit, I was impressed by the friendly and efficient reception staff. They are always welcoming, helpful, and genuinely care about the patients.

I am particularly grateful for the exceptional care provided by my GP, Dr. J. Heaton. In my opinion, he is truly the best in the world! His expertise and attention to detail have not only guided me through various health concerns but have also quite literally saved my life. Every diagnosis and treatment recommendation he has made has been spot-on and incredibly valuable.

One of the standout aspects of my experience at De Montfort Surgery is the remarkable efficiency. I have never experienced lengthy waiting times for appointments. Dr. Heaton always ensures that I receive the necessary time and attention during consultations, without any pressure or rush. It's clear that patient care is a top priority, as I never have to worry about a "time slot" ending too soon.

Additionally, the process for referrals to diagnostic services like X-rays and ECGs has been seamless. I have consistently received referrals within the same week, which is a refreshing contrast to the horror stories I’ve heard about long waiting periods elsewhere—despite DeMontfort Surgery's large size.

I cannot recommend DeMontfort Surgery highly enough. If you are seeking a medical practice that combines professional expertise with genuine care and efficiency, look no further. Thank you, DeMontfort Surgery, for your outstanding service!

Such a disappointing experience with this surgery. My first time using and won’t be returning. Male GP was patronising and unhelpful - do not go here if it regards to female health. Waited for ages for an appointment - only to be told they could not do anything without urine samples- which I was never mentioned when the appointment was booked at reception - poor communication and patronising staff.

New booking system means it's now impossible to book any appointments in the future. Trying to get one on the day means begging the staff for clemency. A really degrading experience.

Edited to add that I strongly advise every local resident/student to avoid this surgery at all costs. You will not be able to see a GP, even in an emergency. I genuinely believe you will be putting your health in danger by joining a surgery that refuses to see patients. Please be careful.

Tried to make an appointment with a GP at 9am on a Tuesday and was told that GP appointments need to be made by callin in at 8-9am. I called in straight at 8AM on a Wednesday and got told that due to staff sickness there's no available appointments. How's that possible? I'm in immense pain so I can't sleep, sit properly, or walk normally. I can't properly judge whether my situation is urgent or not that's why I wanted help from a GP.
