Newbold Verdon Medical Practice

I have no doubt that patients who see a proper doctor have a good experience, and I am sure there are some good staff here, so reluctant to leave a one star rating. But we seem to always get referred to a 'prescribing nurse' who has very limited knowledge/ability to diagnose and is often rude. Also we were recently offered an appointment time within 30mins that wasn't practically possible due to the downs syndrome patient being so ill with fever, so asked if there were any later times available and receptionist said you've asked for an emergency appointment take it or leave it. Please don't take feedback personally, simply posting this so that service can improve.

Booked in for an appointment at 14:45 was 14 minutes late the appointment was to talk about my anxiety. The receptionist said the doctor would wait 10 minutes and because we were 14 minutes he wouldn't see me even though he was physically still there. There was no one in the waiting room and they weren't taking calls so they weren't busy in those regards. It seemed he refused simply for the sake of it? To prove a point to someone who is coming to see you who is struggling? All it does is prove the lack of emotional intelligence the doctor has, Isn't the characteristics that are supposed to make a doctor or health care professional someone who shows compassion, empathy and understanding ? Clearly these are absent traits in all medical services today which is why so many people have such mental struggles in the first place. It's a sad time when the individuals in charge of helping are usually the ones who end up making people feel worse. Too many people in medicine are like this. They hold knowledge without character and practice science without humanity . If you view humans with contempt, disdain and apathy, why become a doctor? You are contributing to what is the systemic decline and failure of the UK health service, that will be your legacy you leave , may you one day reflect on your attitude towards others less fortunate than you

Refusing me access to healthcare to check a possible new chest infection, unless I do a covid test beforehand paid by me. I thought that was the point of seeing a doctor. If the test is mandatory you should offer it, rather than expecting people to pay. It’s 2024, there’s not only Covid on this planet.

It's a Friday, my GP is great and managing my condition the best he can, but when you are in a lot of pain and you call and the receptionist to get help and she keeps blocking you, and you just know you are not going to get past her not matter what you say really, it's disappointing, I have to say that most of the reception well nearly all really are great and would help and not do this, so it's 5am In even more pain and can't stop thinking that this strict gate keeping will come back to bite one day. Ps I'm absolutely sure my GP would not be happy about this!

No complaints from me at all. People can moan about waiting but should never forget that they are always seen. My recent visits have been excellent especially with Dr Morris to whom I am so, so grateful for her time and her professionalism in getting to the root of my health problems. A busy practice but very good.

Brilliant surgery drs receptionist very helpful .

The staff at this surgery are & have been amazing, hardworking & conscientious at all times. Despite working under great pressure, especially during & post Covid, continue to offer great support & understanding. Not sure if many are aware, this surgery covers many areas apart from Newbold, which is growing, & as far as Kirby Muxloe. Think how stretched they are because of local council & government lack of funding. Like you & me our surgery staff are only human. We have responsibility for our health, doctors are there to reassure & offer what they know, to the best of their abilities. Receptionist are under great pressure to get appointments for us all. They are human. Most issues occur because of miscommunication & panic. Sometimes when we are ill, we have to remember, stay calm breathe & if you’re breathing good, pain manageable, you’re okay, you can probably wait for appointment. If you’re struggling call 999. Just like they advise. Remember, No one can stop illnesses nor prevent them & GPs are trying their best, sometimes even skipping breaks, just to support us patients. So next time you get angry or impatient think, in many countries paying to see a doctor is expensive & the norm. Without our NHS we too will have to pay. Breathe & treat ours with respect they deserve. No one can cure us of everything, but we can cure the long waiting times if we use our common sense. Please show some kindness to our GPs, nurses & receptionists, they are a truly rare commodity & are getting less. Stay kind & be thankful. Blessings of love always.
