I would like to thank the Endoscopy Department for their highly professional and well-organised work. While the procedure itself was undoubtedly unpleasant, the team handled everything with great skill, care, and efficiency, which made the experience much more manageable.

The staff were kind, attentive, and took the time to clearly explain each step, helping to ease any anxiety beforehand. A special thank you to the nurses and all team members for their respectful approach and gentle manner β€” true professionals who clearly care about their patients.

I’m truly grateful for the reassurance and comfort they provided throughout the process.

A very modern hospital offering a variety of wards, outpatient clinics, diagnostic services and the minor injuries unit.

The hospital is generally very clean and most members of staff are very helpful and friendly. We experienced delays of over an hour during our recent visits to the outpatients department but were eventually seen and the clinical staff were very helpful.

There are plenty of parking spaces here (mostly underneath the hospital), including disabled spaces. Entrance doors are automatic and there are a couple of lifts at various points throughout the building providing access to all floors.

Staff is incredibly rude and unkind. Help for patients is very slow and you can be left sat waiting hours for a simple thing, such as being moved from one chair to another. Asking for smaller things, such as refilling a container of something or choosing specific food from the menu can be forgotten. Seems pointless. As a visitor you're met with verbal aggressiveness even if you're simply trying to help out.
To top it all, they bad mouth you when they're literally just outside the door, as if you can't hear them.
It's like they're bothered about having patients that need assistance and can't do stuff on their own.

Posters on the walls about inspiring words is just a joke and straight up contradicting what the ward actually is offering the patients.

Food staff is really nice though, more switched on than the nurses and shows more care. Literally putting them in their places almost doing their work for them.

It breaks my heart that people are left in the staffs care, when they're so unwelcoming. So unprofessional. I'm outraged and absolutely fuming.

Hell on Earth - the walk from the main entrance to the outpatients department required an oxygen mask and two robotic hips - the most depressing exterior of any building I’ve ever been in

Once inside though, the staff were helpful and very kind so if you can survive the journey to outpatients, you'll be just fine

Took my Dad to Ystrad this morning 10.00 am. He fell down their back steps on Friday 28th February went to the Grange early hours of the morning. Has git an appointment in YstrD Monday Afternoon but when he got up this morning his hand and fingers were very red and swollen. I dropped them off at Ystrad and waited for them. My Dad John Way said that they were absolutely brilliant. Lovely and friendly and put both him and my Mum at rest. My Mum was panicking as she's quite highly strung. Nothing was too much trouble and they were only there for less than 2 hours. Absolutely brilliant service. They are all angels

My father was recently on Bargoed ward having had a stroke. The staff were all absolutely superb. His care there was second to none. His room was always spotless as was my father. Nothing was too much trouble. Outstanding.

Broke my hand and they said I don’t need to be put in a cast.

I went to the Gwent after a week of being in pain and they put it in a cast straight away

Staff need better training

My mother is in this hospital, she went in very weak and could not walk hardly with the zimmer. She is 77 years of age and was made to sit in a chair all day and night for nearly three days and
can't hardly eat on the medical assessment ward. My mother had tried to phone me telling me she wanted to come home the ward staff deliberately doaped her up the the hilt with a weak heart. They have now moved her to risca ward were they won't answer the phone. I tried to speak up out of desperation and the nurse responded with I am being confrontational. My mothers name is Peggie Couzens. My mother went back in recently for PYSICAL problems and on the medical assessment ward she was zombified with god knows what to the point we're she still thought she had the touch screen phone infront of her. Two female nurses dragged her upside down and her head nearly hit the floor. Then other nurses roughly hadeld her to get nappies off so bad she had terrible bruises all over her stomach. She is now in the Risca ward were I speak on the phone to nice sounding nurses but whilst the cats away the mice will play example extreme amount of morphine late night my mother phones and says a nurse just gave her so much morphine that she feels like she's going to die 12:00 am 9/42025 for her fibromyalgia and the GP said morphine won't work on that also 8:30am in the morning a African nurse went in and forced a pile of tablets down her throte when she questioned what they were. No good waiting for assessment team now unfortunately ill be contacting two newspapers because the level of cruelty is beyond belief. The government should step in. I have pictures of terrible bruises on my mothers stomach and so does my sister, but everytime i try to post them my review won't show up very very strange. Also they have put two women with dementia on the ward that are walking the halls all night long and going in to my mothers room and takeing her things and are frightening her and the head nurses are saying they can't do anything about it. The staff are forcing mental health tablets down my mother throte and making her weaker, she went in for physical problems. This hospital should be on wales this week tv programm.
