I was very happy with my recent experience. Obviously it takes a while to get through ( they are busy!) but was given a same day appointment each time and felt very reassured by the standard of care - including 4 separate tests which was very thorough. Reception were friendly , helpful and efficient. I’m amazed at the patience they display towards some very impatient patients!

I joined the surgery as it was the nearest one to where I’ve moved to .My first experience of it has been extremely poor serviceI spent an hour on the phone trying to get through to make an appointment and once I got through I was told that I couldn’t have an appointment because my symptoms were not a priority and that they don’t write sick notes .So my next priority is trying to find a decent surgery in the area. Has anybody got any suggestions?

My absolute pleasure. As per feedback requested. I ended up in a&e with my infant daughter after being told they were not prioritised by your surgery. The person I spoke to on the phone pretty much laughed as I was told “go to a&e if you’re that worried” The dr that eventually called was actually very kind and apologetic, but I’ve been at your practice 3 years and it’s shambolic to say the least. Would have been happy to discuss this in private, but no one has ever got back to me when I’ve asked to speak with someone

OK. They did get back to me in response to my letter. And i got my referral. We are making progress. What people who are less vocal than I am do, I don't know.
(Yet another revision to my review. My scheduled test was cancelled at the last minute. My request by letter and email seems to have been ignored. No communication.)
(I am now revising my previous review, as they did phone me in response to my complaints, and i got an appointment that day for more targeted tests and a possible future referral. Greatly relieved to be listened to.)
(Emails just get an automated response. Visits and tests are not followed up. No one gets back to you, or continues investigations. You are just dropped, even though the problem continues. Have to ring up, or turn up on the day to be seen. Basically, a shambles.)

I'm so relieved to have finally left this GP surgery. It is the worst I've ever come across in my life. The only positive experience I've ever had there is with one of the nurses (wish I could remember her name). Otherwise, it's virtually impossible to get an appointment. The main (male) receptionist is rude, with no people skills whatsoever (awful to deal with when you're unwell). The others don't seem to have a clue what's going on. I was never assigned a GP and never saw the same doctor twice. It was so hard to get an appointment that it's difficult to comment on the doctors (I'm sure there must be good ones there). Luckily I'm mainly in good health. My partner has had more health concerns that me but has never in three years managed to get an appointment with a doctor. There were numerous mistakes made in the four years I was there. Most recently a wrongly carried out smear test and a truly dreadful experience getting my coil changed, which made me leave there in tears (no kind words from the receptionist who saw I was distressed, despite a virtually empty waiting room). I've moved to Charter and in two weeks they are already wowing me with their far superior communication and organisation. Wish Park was just across the road from me so it's a pity to have to walk 25 minutes to go to the doctor but I feel much more assured of getting the help I need if I become ill. They also have a team who specialises in women's reproductive health (rather than absolutely clueless at WPS). Perhaps they need new management? I'm genuinely surprised they are continuing to operate. Literally everyone I know who has been a patient there has subsequently left.

Amended 22/07/24 - I'm continuing to receive far superior care at Charter Medical Centre. Their reception staff are caring and compassionate. I can always get an appointment. Every nurse and GP I've seen have been fantastic. I came on here to see if Wish Park have improved at all and all I can see are defensive, sarcastic responses from whoever replies to patients' genuine criticism. Honestly? Do you not care at all that you're dealing with sick people? You really should be ashamed!

Needed a GP as it's been quite a few years since I went and I had a backlog of medical and mental issues, and got registered straight away and had my old prescriptions prescribed right away.

The only issues I've had is I've been given the wrong date for phone appointments twice now and one receptionist in particular wasn't the best for general feedback.

She said things along the lines of "I don't know why you are even coming here with those symptoms.. the doctor is just going to send you to the A&E" and "you're just wasting our time". The doctor didn't just send me to A&E nor said I was just wasting their time.
I've also witnessed this one particular receptionist being a bit patronizing/rude to other patients.
I haven't seen her in awhile, so perhaps she's on a much needed holiday.

I understand the GP tries it's best and the staff maybe feeling stressed or overworked themselves and that can really draw a strain on one's mind, body & soul.

My general experience here has been really good! Some issues, but we cant expect perfection. We are all only human afterall.

Staff are mostly kind and helpful however, today, after holding on as 14 people before me, listening to horrid music while I waited to speak with an assistant who asked my DOB and then disconnected me I am very frustrated with appointment system!!

My wife, Lynda Lee, was seen by Dr Baker and he, like every other doctor we have seen at this surgery, was attentive, friendly, thorough and helpful. Another excellent experience as was also from Denise and all reception staff who try and help us. Paul.
