My mum had to go to Weston A&E, she had a blood clot in her arm. All of the staff were amazing, the care she received, the speed in which they carried out the tests and arranged her urgent transfer to Southmead was fantastic. I can't fault them at all. We are all quick to complain when things go wrong, but I'm for one very pleased to have our hospital and grateful for their amazing staff. I also wanted to point out that anyone with cardiovascular issues would be sent to Southmead and it's not a reflection on the care at Weston. So thank you

Went to A&E which the process was very quick . Then I got taken to ED ward and the staff sister nurse was superb .. I was being admitted for an operation. I was then taken to Hutton ward and was treated how I wanted to be treated. They are all very kind and helpful. Had my operation and back in Hutton ward . Very considerate staff . Couldn't do enough for you . The food was lovely too . I would have paid good money for the food I had . Discharge was nice and easy too . Overall very happy with everything.

I was thoroughly checked over on admittance in A&E, and it was discovered I had Acute Pancreatitis, so off the porters took me to Steerholme ward 1, Bed 5. There is a lot of work neededing to

In my experience, this hospital treat you as if you’re looking for a bed for the night.
Just kept in and fed. Never asked how you’re feeling, if you have any new symptoms, just held and fed just enough so you feel compelled to stay.
Bright lights on until midnight and back on at 05:30. Then discharged because you’re taking up a bed despite symptoms getting worse. They show no care. I thought hospital was the best place to be, definitely not this place.
My nan was here last month and wasn’t eating. They told us she had eaten an entire meal the night before that we watched her manage a spoon full of mash potato.

Nov 2021 visited A&E with my daughter today and found it to be a very big disappointment.
The staff at the reception were not engaged in what was going on outside their office. They spent more time on the phone, computer and chatting rather than acknowledging anyone in the queue. This was distressing to see, as there were many people scared and in pain just being ignored. I know it's their job and they see it day in and out but the patient should be priority. Once checked in you couldn't wait with your loved ones (covid) this is understandable, however no one kept the families updated. I was in the foyer for 4 hours waiting for any update. When my daughter was finally released she was still in pain, had been waiting for over an hour for a prescription (which she had to get in the end) and felt she had not been listened to or helped in any way. She was just sat in a chair, and told to wait for results, then when she was asked what was her pain level (in which she replied 8) they didn't investigate further, just sent her on her way. Sadly I cannot recommend our A&E.

June 2021 Always found weston general hospital professional and efficient. Good staff that are happy to help. Visited neurology and physiotherapy recently and found them both very helpful and understanding. Feels a bit old and dated now but I'm sure work is ongoing to resolve this. Parking is 1.80 for an hour so lots try to street park which unfortunately blocks up village.

I would not recommend this hospital. I’m sure they’re very good with minor injuries, follow up appointments and easy A&E emergencies. They couldn’t cope with my father’s situation. He had fallen down the stairs and suffered broken ribs, broken collarbone, bleed on the brain. They gave him X-rays and a MRI etc. They put him on a normal ward with other men coming in with minor situations. We had to ask for my father to be seen when we felt he wasn’t comfortable as he was basically left to heal in bed. They contacted Bristol hospitals for advice regards his head injury. My fathers situation changed and he struggled to breath, he was given oxygen and we were told he was dying, and not getting enough oxygen due to the head injury, his oxygen was taken away as it wasn’t serving him. End of life nurse care arrived and gave him morphine for the pain and we never saw them again. We asked for a private room to spend time with him as a family in private, we’re told the rooms must stay free for people arriving with covid etc. we offered to pay for a private room and again told NO. The ward my father was on, there was one man shouting out and swearing because he couldn’t get WIFI, speaking loudly with his friend, the man in the next bed was watching a war movie very load with bombs, gun fire filling the ward.
One young nurse who proudly told us she was qualifying next week asked us if my father would like a jacket potato from her trolly or a yogurt!!!!!! He hadn’t eaten for 2 days and was clearly dying!
We begged for the man to turn his movie down 3 times, the head nurse eventually gave him headphones, who wants to hear this when you are dying! We asked for a private room again - NO. My father passed away at 6.20pm, a full day of asking for a quiet, private room etc. They had the curtain pulled closed around his bed and he stayed there after passing for more than 3hrs before someone took him down to the mortuary.
The hospital had no idea how to treat a patient dying or a head injury at this level, they had no compassion to give my father a quiet space to dye with his family. The nurse who asked if he wanted something to eat 3hrs before he died had no idea what was happening! I pointed signs out to her to recognise when someone is dying. It plays on my mind that my father died in this way, he deserved so much more, the end of life nurses should have come again to check on him, increase the morphine etc. my father wasn’t given the care, respect and private/quiet space to pass in peace and comfort.

Although it was sometime ago I did post a review, as I was not happy about some of the care. Somethings that should have been done, somethings that shouldn't of happend. This was over a very long stay for my son on uphill ward. But in that time also was some excellent care given. The nursing assistants were so caring and I thank them especially. The biggest obstacle was the hospiltal/Consultant saying my son, having a peg wasn't an option. This was needed so that my son who had LD could be home to have his last weeks, months, year or years with his family. We were trapped as I would not leave him, we were there for four and a half months. Then my son went to Southmead for a overnight stay to have a test done. And so I asked a Consultant at Southmead hospital if they would agreed to the peg. He said yes so my son had the peg done. But because we were in a different area the arrangement needed to go home took longer. He was at Southmead for another two and a half mounths. My Son didn't make it home but perhaps he would have if he was allowed the peg sooner at Weston hospital.

Do not go for any dental issues!!
I Had a Nasty dental infection on the weekend while all dentists are closed.
Pus clearly leaking from Gums ,rigors and neck stiffness and pain and high blood pressure due to pain .4 weeks before I had a major operation due to ovarian cancer in Bristol and thought mabey just mabey I would be shown some compassion. NO

I was turned away after a blood test. even though the blood panel clearly showed i was fighting said infection.
Was told to drink lots of water and take paracetamol?
luckily i got into a dentist privately that said that it's pure negligence I wasn't prescribed cover antibiotics as it had spread to my neck and lymnodes
