I recently visited the emergency room due to respiratory issues, a persistent cough, and throat discomfort. While I must commend the staff for their kindness and professionalism during my initial treatment, my overall experience was disappointing.

Despite my symptoms, the doctor Niamh who conducted the final examination did not thoroughly investigate my condition. Instead, I was sent home with a prescription for paracetamol and ibuprofen to treat what was assumed to be a viral infection. I find this approach inadequate, as pain relief tablets alone do not address the root cause of my problem. Moreover, the prescribed dosage—four tablets every four hours—is highly concerning due to its potential long-term effects on liver health.

Unfortunately, my symptoms persist, and when I sought further assistance, I was advised not to return to the hospital. This response left me feeling neglected and unsupported in addressing my health concerns. While the staff's initial efforts were appreciated, the lack of a proper diagnosis and follow-up care has left me deeply dissatisfied with the service provided.

Easy entrance, large automatic revolving doors. Helpful welcome desk. Clean toilets. A lot of corridors. Great care for cardiac scan.

Easy to find, although not easy to park if coming by car. Staff always kind, helpful, supportive and attentive. Sometimes things take longer than you'd like, but that's just how it is. Really appreciate their care and service

Beware taking your baby to this hospital. They cover up bad practices which have led to child death in the past!

No wheelchairs were avaliable,so I had to try to walk with a frame. I nearly passed out so had to pay £20 for a taxi home with my support worker helping me ( I was so,so scared) but the wait for my hospital transport was another 3 hour's and I was in to much pain to wait, so the £20 I spent on taxi was from my shopping money.

The treatment, care and staff are all outstanding here. Having been a patient on many occasions for both serious and not so serious conditions over the years all the elements work pretty well most of the time. The pharmacy in particular is a major cause of complaint. Patients are often waiting hours to receive the medications they need to go home having been discharged in every other respect. I've spent five hours just sitting on a bed waiting for pharmacy to put my prescription together. This obviously means the bed isn't available for anyone else and this impacts all the way down the line to patients having to wait in ambulances. This is a serious bottleneck and needs addressing with more staff or a more efficient system.
The other bugbear is the administration which is often confusing and contradictory. Information isn't passed on to the relevant people and conflicting messages are given to patients leaving them confused and concerned about quite what is happening.
Treatment, care and the excellent staff are major plusses but other areas need work.
