Shockingly bad experience here at the pain clinic. Staff lie and claim they've rung you when you've got an appointment scheduled, they don't ring. My partner had an appointment scheduled at 16:20 on the 29th of May. He rang in the morning to confirm the time, keep his phone with him all throughout the day. No phone call at the time given, so he rang back at 16:35 to be told the clinician was running late and if she hasn't phoned by 18:00 to phone back in the morning. She didn't phone so he rang back at 9am to be told they had tried to contact him three times through the day yesterday - even though nothing came through our end and why would someone phone various times if the appointment was 16:20? The receptionist claimed my partner hadn't rung them, even though he rang the same number every time. They were laughing at the other end of the phone and said they'll write to him. It's just unacceptable behaviour!! He needs to come off morphine for his stomach issues but pain clinic are not giving any duty of care whatsoever. Please, if you can avoid using them - do it. They are not fit for purpose in any way, shape or form. Chief executive has been contacted, so hopefully, we'll get a resolution going forward.

Waited in A&E for 9 hours. So that would be a one star. However once they had discovered what was wrong with me I couldn’t fault them at all. So overall 5 for the absolutely brilliant care and attention I had once admitted. The team there are lovely and friendly and super professional.

Shameful Experience – A Predatory Parking Scam at a Time of Crisis

I’m utterly appalled by the way ParkingEye operates at Cardiff Heath Hospital — and even more disgusted that the NHS continues to knowingly contract these private parking firms to prey on vulnerable people during the worst moments of their lives.

My mother was rushed into intensive care and high dependency at Cardiff Heath and remained there for three weeks. I travelled daily from Swansea — without missing a single day — to be by her side, often staying long hours.

On just my second day visiting, a patient’s family member pulled me aside and gave me a warning I initially thought was a bit extreme. They said, “Be careful with the car parks here — the hospital is known to send fines out as a scam , especially if you’ve parked multiple times over a few days. They’ll claim you never left the car park or accuse you of using staff-only spaces, and they do it on purpose — banking on people not having proof or the strength to appeal.

They even advised me to take photos every time I parked, including signs and where I left my car — because it’s a well-known tactic / scam at this hospital. According to them, many people have been stung by this setup, and it’s become almost routine for visitors and patients who park in their car parks frequently over short periods to receive unjustified fines.

At the time, I thought it sounded paranoid — surely a hospital wouldn’t allow such underhanded practices on its grounds? It was clear if your stay was over 4 hours you need to input your reg to the machine which I did..

But, as I found out, they were absolutely right. It was part of a systematic scam orchestrated by ParkingEye and the hospital, one that many people seem to be aware of — yet nothing is ever done to stop it.

Possibly a week after visiting for three weeks , I received a letter from ParkingEye, claiming I had parked in a staff-only car park. Not only was this untrue, but it was clearly part of a manipulative system designed to trap and scam unsuspecting visitors. These fines aren’t about managing traffic — they’re about generating revenue through confusion, intimidation, and delay.

And here’s the worst part: if you pay the fine early, they offer you a “discount.” But if you choose to appeal — even if you’re completely in the right — the fine is higher as not paid immediately . They count on the fact that most people, exhausted, emotional, and overwhelmed, will just pay to avoid the hassle. That’s not enforcement — it’s exploitation.

Fortunately, because I had been warned, I took photos of my car and the signs in the area. I also drive a Tesla, which records CCTV footage, so I have evidence of where I parked. But how many others don’t have that? How many people, just trying to visit their loved ones end up fined, stressed, and punished for doing nothing wrong?

The most appalling aspect of all this is that the NHS allows this to happen. ParkingEye is contracted by the hospital, which means this isn’t a rogue operator — it’s a deliberate partnership. The NHS is fully aware of how this company operates and still chooses to work with them. In my opinion, that makes them equally responsible.

When you’re dealing with the trauma of a critically ill family member, the last thing you should have to worry about is being financially penalised for trying to be there for them. It’s a betrayal of the very values the NHS claims to uphold.

🚫 If you or your loved ones are visiting this hospital, be warned. Take photos. Keep records. Do not assume that because you followed signs that you’ll be protected. And most importantly — don’t stay silent. Dispute every ticket. Expose this disgusting practice. Hold ParkingEye and the NHS accountable and write a review to help others!!

Heath Hospital provides an excellent level of care and professionalism. The staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, and go out of their way to make patients feel supported and at ease.

The facilities are modern and well-maintained, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. Despite being a busy hospital, the organisation and efficiency of services are commendable.

Overall, it’s clear that everyone here is dedicated to delivering the best possible care. A big thank you to the team for their hard work and commitment!

Do not attempt to park here. Use the park and ride off the A48 (CF23 8HH) as the hospital website suggests. Buses and parking are free and only takes 6 mins. Buses approx every 10 mins. Probably quicker than driving and waiting around for a space.

From what I have seen, UH Wales Cardiff have a very dedicated team be it night or day on the wards and A&E as well as Theatres with numerous testimonials pinned to the display board of students who cannot thank or wait to return one day to belong where they trained.
As with the primer the dedicated staff are very stretched working with demanding patients who need constant attention when older. Adding the budget cutbacks with every ward individually procuring their needs puts the whole effort under constant delivery pressure.
The constant movement of beded patients pre or post operated are then transferred to another ward and another occupant then gets wheeled in for treatment and the process repeats itself every day 365.

The hospital it's self is good but depending on what ward you are on my husband had a fall yesterday and he had to be put back into bed now today they are blaming him for the fall and refusing to give him his insulin which is vital don't get me wrong some of the nurses are great but some just can't be bothered.
