Recently joined this GP, I don’t often leave a review but I have to say that I’ve had a brilliant first experience. Rang them up about 10:15/10:20, they picked up the phone immediately and within a minute I had an appointment booked for 11:30 same day. I arrived a couple of minutes early expecting a bit of a wait however was seen at the exact time booked by a lovely doctor (I believe her name was Ellie). She was very warm, welcoming, checked out my main concerns and then gave extra assurance by checking out some minor concerns that I mentioned in passing. Sent off a prescription to the nearby pharmacy which I went to collect an hour or so later, and told me to come back in a week if I was still experiencing any issues. If the rest of my experiences are even as half as good as my first with this GP, I will be completely over the moon. All in all, from making the first call to picking up the prescription the whole process took only a few hours meaning I could get home and rest up.

I have spent years deciding whether to leave a review as I seem to be in the mind of gratefulness nowadays.
This review is being left on behalf of my grandmother who I’ve been managing her healthcare requirements now for 8 years.
I’m grateful if someone answers within 20 minutes. .
I’m grateful if I’m spoken to politely.
I’m grateful if I don’t have to persuade the ever increasingly rude telephonists that the call is urgent. Let’s face it, I wouldn’t be calling if it wasn’t.
I’m grateful if repeats could please not be lost and be sent to the pharmacy on time.
I’m not asking a lot. I’m a very reasonable lady but my time is equally important and yet we’re made to feel sympathetic that somehow we’re putting them out just by them answering the phone.
The service delivery is appalling. Where did this get so bad? Yet I dare not speak out in case they say my grandmother has to find another surgery. I also heard a young lad who was perfectly nice be called “far right” because he dare to complain about the receptionists rudeness.
What is happening?
It’s long overdue we stopped treating the NHS like a religion and reform it once and for all.
People are so terrified to speak up about poor service because of this!
Very unhappy but what are we supposed to do?

Extremely rude service. Cut me off on call even before I could explain my situation. No empathy or any consideration for those calling in. While the recording asks us to be mindful of how to speak to them, they should also be mindful of how they speak to patients.

Moved to Southwater a year ago and have nothing but good things to say about this place. Reception are very helpful indeed and a big shout out to both Ellie and Jo who were amazing when I was in there recently.

30 minutes minimum on phone to get emergency appointments on more than three occasions, very unhelpful , very rude and dissmisive , very slow with giving information to deal with my condition, took a month to to be told about self referral, can see why this surgery is rated worst surgery in Sussex. Very very disappointed with lack of care or concern for my wellbeing.

This surgery is really good, can get on the phone to them straight away and they are so sympathetic with you. I had an appointment recently and the nurse was so understanding and calming. A lovely experience considering it is the doctors. I find all the staff helpful!

I had a short notice offer to travel abroad, with not a lot of time before departure. I needed a number of vaccinations for the destination country. My own surgery in Horsham would not help at short notice and told me to go elsewhere. I called the Village Surgery and explained. The receptionist was very helpful, made some enquiries and confirmed later that they could fit me in. I was booked in by the end of the day, had one vaccine 4 days later and another round 7 days later. One of these was a speciality vaccine which I paid for (not covered on NHS and the surgery pays to be allowed to administer them) and the rest were regular NHS jabs which my own surgery should have been able to administer.

The service and advice from the nurse was great and I really appreciate them going the extra mile. I can't attest to any other service at this surgery, so my rating is based purely on this experience as a non-regular patient for travel services, not regular GP services.
