Our experience with the Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Clinic began in 2024, and unfortunately, it has been extremely negative from the outset due to ongoing failures within the service. Before attending, we had already received negative feedback from friends who had used the clinic. We chose to remain open-minded, but sadly, our experience confirmed many of their concerns. Communication is a major issue, phone calls go unanswered for days, voicemails rarely receive a reply, and email communication is practically non-existent. Even when we specifically requested an email response due to limited phone access, the clinic would still call and leave a voicemail instead. This gives the impression they may be trying to avoid creating a written record, which is especially concerning in the context of complaints. The general attitude of the staff has been disheartening. With the exception of one compassionate staff member, we often felt like an inconvenience rather than patients seeking help. As private patients, we expected a basic level of service and communication, which has been consistently lacking. Policies and procedures are not clearly explained, and worse, each staff member seems to provide a different version of the same information. It leaves you feeling confused and unsupported at a time when clarity and care are essential. In our case, we eventually sought treatment from a clinic over an hour away from our home to avoid the ongoing lack of care, compassion, and progress at Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Clinic. Timelines were not met, updates were not provided, and treatment was effectively stalled. In our opinion, a serious review of the clinic's leadership and processes is long overdue. A temporary pause in services to retrain staff, improve communication standards, and rebuild trust would be in the best interests of future patients.

Very disappointed. We have only gone as far as testing but there is no way we would go further here due to the issues we’ve had. Multiple delayed appointments (which is torture when every month is a missed opportunity), mislabelled blood tests, incorrect information in letters (including getting dates wrong which if I hadn’t picked up on it would have rendered my blood tests obsolete). We are paying privately and it’s taken over 6 months and we still have no answers. Also, they instantly assumed we would do IVF even though we made it clear from the first meeting that was a last resort for us. A lot of the individual staff are lovely, but overall I feel like there is no consistency (so we have had to repeat ourselves a lot), no deep dive (there are things they should have asked that they haven’t) and we have been left feeling deflated & sad.

I had 3 full rounds of ivf here. 11 embryos transfered and zero stuck. They wouldn't change protocol nore would they investigate and i was told it was age related (38) and unexplained infertility. My history before ivf highlighted something that would have had a negative impact and I was told ivf bypasses the problem area. 2 years lo and behold I had to have both tubes removed and they where toxic to embryos. After years of complaining I was brushes off. Another thing annoyed me was one of the doctors asked why do I keep making trouble for him (me asking for investigations before my next round) Then another I was left in office with full bladder before transfer crying in pain because I was ready to burst and only days after retrieval so I was very sore. Was given a transfer time and it was at least 40 minutes over while staff where laughing in the office having a break. (You need full bladder for transfer) Another u felt every single egg being retrieved it was very painful even under sedation. That's my experience with them.

Excellent! the reception, nurses, embryologists, fertility doctors are all great. They run through and explain to us every procedures and guide us through the step by step process, they are very reassuring to us and they’re very efficient through the whole fertility treatment and they keep us informed all the time. Thanks to them, now we have our precious healthy 2 year old boy. We only have great appreciation and very grateful for all the care we got from the lovely staff of The Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre.

Over the moon. We had our fertility treatment on the NHS. Our first cycle didn't work but our frozen transfer did and we now have a beautiful daughter. The consultants, nursing staff and scientists were professional and personable giving us confidence in the service. I can see from the other reviews that some people may feel that there isn't as much communication as expected but the bottom line is it worked for us and we will be going back as private patients to transfer our remaining embryo's when the time is right.

I have nothing but praise for this friendly and professional department. I'm not going to refer to success rates, or my own, because you can check these stats on the HFEA website. My experience of the clinic is as an NHS patient, but I also have previous experience of being a private patient at another clinic for comparison. The department have been excellent at keeping us informed at all stages of IVF treatment, and are incredibly knowledgeable. I would say there was a good amount of continuity in who we saw/spoke with (if that is important to you) and especially in the run up, and including treatment, but for us, more important than that was that every single person who has been part of our treatment has been kind, friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Centre and intend to return in the future as a private patient. My experience here far exceeds my previous experience at a private clinic (Manchester), where we paid thousands of pounds for an inferior service, and where advice given was in their interests of keeping us as paid clients rather than giving us the best guidance for our circumstances.

I don't know how you can give the caring, supportive and professional staff anything but 5 stars to be honest. We even commented during our embryo transfer that the whole process must be everyday for them so not special and all the staff agreed that every single time, making a life is exciting and special and I believe them. They were all beaming with smiles and the sonographer held my hand in support with the warmth my mum would. I could feel the love in the room. Thanks Ladies xxx
