I get such anxiety when phoning the GP but every receptionist I have spoken to has been so kind and helpful. Especially the Scottish receptionist, she just has such a caring attitude. Everyone I’ve come into contact with at the surgery are so friendly and they really care. 🙂

I avoided the doctors for months, when I really needed to go. However I joined this surgery after staying with my mum when she was unwell. My GP, Dr AJ, has been the most consistent, professional, kind person I've dealt with whilst needing medical care and prevented decline. She is actually human (they still exist)! The other GPs (Dr H, Dr B) have also been super with my mum, as was the temporary GP I health with the other day, and I hope they all realise what a difference their bedside manner makes. The older residents near my mum all speak highly of the practice - a comfort when care of elderly is so appalling in so many places. I really hope that ever increasing social pressure doesn't change the level of care here. Reception have to ask what's wrong - the same as they do when you go to A&E which is totally acceptable. I like that the practice is small and welcoming, can always park, and they have always called back when needed. Something my old surgery failed to do.

Every GP I've seen is brilliant but there is one receptionist that brings everything down. My 5 week old son needs hypoallergenic milk and the receptionist has spent 2 days being extremely difficult about a prescription as in her opinion, it can only be done by a pharmacist, who is off sick. When we raised that we've always got prescriptions from Doctors she said that's not how things work. She also said "well I don't know what you want me to do about it" when we told her we've now ran out of milk, as if she couldn't just request a prescription from a GP or make us an appointment.
We've now spent £18 on 400g of formula because a receptionist that doesn't know her ar*e from her elbow wants to play god with baby formula. We'll be changing surgeries for our son so we don't have to go through this again.
It's disgusted me that she's stopped us being able to get formula for our son, especially when he's so young.
I don't understand how a GP surgery can justify keeping someone like this employed. She's terrible. It'll be interesting to see if she bothers betting the pharmacist to sort out his prescription when she's back or not.
I'd like to add, on the first day we asked for a prescription she repeatedly told us to call at different times to then tell us late afternoon the pharmacist is off sick and to ring tomorrow. Surely she would've known before 3pm that the pharmacist wasn't in?
I'd also be very interested to find out exactly why GP's at this surgery can prescribe at appointments but only a pharmacist can prescribe outside of appointments? I'd also like an explanation as to why we couldn't just have an appointment instead of having to stress trying to find this formula.
It's amazing how one person can ruin an entire surgery.

The medical team are exceptional and appointments are usually easy to come by. The practice is clean and well kept. Parking nearby is not an issue and I would say I cannot rate it highly enough but the whole experience is utterly ruined by one member of the reception team, who, if you get them is rude and unpleasant and makes things incredibly difficult, seemingly for the sake of it. It amazes me how such individuals who lack genuine compassion or kindness are employed in such roles

We as a family have been with this practice for 37 years and have nothing but praise for the staff whether they be doctors, reception, pharmacy, practice nurses or administrators. Nothing is too much trouble and getting in contact with a doctor whether by telephone or face to face is never an issue. This and the services received from SDH make this a great place to be when you require medical assistance.

Generally very good but for the Covid spring booster the surgery are offering no support what so ever for their patients. Those who are immunocompromise are expected to travel up to 120 miles round trip. Very disappointing Old Orchard - you clearly don't feel you have a duty of care.
THANK YOU For your response. I agreed the practice is generally very good, caring and responsive BUT wasn't helpful regarding the COVID spring booster. I felt the practice should of helped me more, having contacted them several times I was just told you couldn't help!
In desperation I contacted my consultant who arranged for me to have the booster done locally within a few days. I would have hoped my GP's surgery could have done the same.
