Excellent service by surgeon Mrs Reim Johnson. I have been very fortunate to have had Mrs Reim Johnson perform carpal tunnel surgery on my hands over the last 6 months. Throughout the consultations, surgery & follow up, she is absolutely fantastic & in my opinion, the best. Her approach & manner was exemplary & made me feel not only at ease but totally valued as her patient. She is absolutely dedicated & a credit to the team at Montefiore Hospital.

The first thing to mention is the consultant I spoke to and had my appointment with was super helpful, lovely and professional. The rest of my experience with the Montefiore Hospital was a sorry state of affairs.

I was refered here as an NHS patient. All medical history and details passed through and my 'care' was transferred to the Montefiore. After my initial meeting with a consultant (which was superb), all the arrangements etc were made for an operation. Then it all got very weird.

I was informed of meetings about my suitability for the procedure, and to wait for a date - which was fine and made sense. After a number of phone calls, including a lot of myself chasing I was finally given a date for the procedure, and everything was ok.

After a few more weeks waiting, and 2 days before the planned operation, I was called by a pre-op nurse and told I was not going to have the operation, and to go-back to the NHS. This was based on my medical history. This medical history was supplied to the Montefiore, and openly discussed with them and myself at every stage up to this point. Nothing at all had changed, and nothing was new. The pre-op nurse simply stated that I was not suitable for treatment at the Montefiore. I was left high and dry, and informed I had to go to the back of the waiting list. This was through no fault of my own.

Why I was even accepted as a patient at the Montefiore, let alone seen by a consultant, led through all the processes and further conversations over a course of months, to then be told 2 days before the operation I was NEVER suitable is nothing short of a disgrace. Being accepted as a patient at the Montefiore only led me to have further delays (months) to my treatment, which I have subsequently had at an NHS hospital.

I also spoke with the Matron to further clarify why I was ever seen or accepted by the Montefiore. I was given no help in the matter and the tone was very defensive, and even dismissive. I also requested a written letter including the dialogue and record of what had happened. I was told this had been arranged, but months later I have never received it. I have chased this up - but the email have remained unanswered.

I felt hugely dissapointed, and frankly quite upset at the treatment offered here.

The consultant was marvellous (when we got to see them). However, the hospital itself has unbelievably bad service. Horrendous. They send texts and emails confirming appointment times when the consultant isn’t even there.

Twice we wasted £70 in taxi fares and spent 5 hours trying to uncover who knew what and who is is responsible for what… and never really found out.

Everyone we spoke to was kind and tried to be helpful but we got nowhere. The management is very inefficient and ineffective. How is this a private hospital? The right hand doesn’t know what the left-hand is doing. God help those who are shy or not assertive.

I had an outpatient procedure yesterday removing a lump from my thumb which was causing me a great deal of pain. My surgeon was Lisa Leonard - my goodness is she incredible, so kind and patient and so so knowledgable. I am really really terrified of anything surgical/hospital related as I have a deeply routed fear of blood and procedures, but by the time I was in the operating theatre she made me feel so at ease and calm. I am an avid researcher so it helped knowing she had over 30 years experience of orthopaedic hand surgery! And you can tell she is a mother as she has a very warm and maternal presence, and feels trustworthy. I really can’t thank her enough for everything, I just want to give her a big hug! All the staff at the hospital are great; from the receptionists to the man who escorted me up to the outpatient waiting room, the nurses who checked me in, the super lovely personable man - John - who chatted to me throughout my operation - I wish I could remember all your names, honestly you were all fantastic. I am so lucky to have private healthcare through work and this was covered for me with no excess. Would never hesitate to go back to the Montefiore in the future for anything. Thank you again so so much.

Needed An MRI scan but an administrative error by the hospital led to not being able to have scan which was really disappointing. BUT they could not have sorted the issue out quicker and got me back in two days letter, providing plenty of updates. Things do go wrong but it's how people deal with them what matters and they rectified their mistake really quickly

Ms Kaushik is an exceptionally skilled Gyneocolgy Surgeon, her warmth & compassion radiated as soon as we met. For nearly 20yrs I had been under the NHS & as much as I respect them I had been pushed from one department to another, missing the correct diagnosis for my health issues. Years of not feeling listened too & dismissed with endless pills took a toll on my life & mental heath. Facing another 52 wk wait with the NHS I decided to invest in seeing Ms Kaushik privately. This was the BEST decision I've ever made. During my consultation I was immediately put at ease & for the first time felt genuinely listened & cared for. Everything was explained perfectly & the agreed surgery was arranged within 2 months. The Montefiore staff were all outstanding & from start to finish I was treated with the upmost respect, from Ms Kaushik secretary through to the nurses assigned to me they were all outstanding. I was blessed to have an all female surgical team & felt in very safe hands at ever stage. I truely am so grateful to Ms Kaushik & her team. Their skills & expertise has significantly improved my health & well being. The root cause of my health issues were finally correctly diagnosed & my procedure was a success. I have been recovering at home now for 4 days but already feel such a huge relief. I hold Ms Kaushik in the greatest of respect & she has my sincere heart felt gratitude. She really is a remarkable Lady & has transformed my life. I wish her a future blessed with an abundance of health & happiness. I highly recommend Ms Kaushik & The Montefiore. Thank you for your 5* service.
