From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel warm and welcomed.

It was lovely to have a drink and play games in the snug before the most amazing dinner. Honestly, we were so impressed with the food. Everything was delicious for breakfast and dinner.

The room was tastefully decorated and not noisy at all. The bed was really comfortable and we both slept very well - helped by the amazing food and wine, I’m sure!

The morning yoga was a nice touch and the location by the beach was really beautiful.

We loved our stay and would highly recommend!

We booked The Gallivant back in July for our wedding anniversary but had to move the date to October due to personal circumstances. All the way through staff were very accommodating and were only too helpful in helping change the date and ensure we were rebooked for the room, dinner and morning yoga. Communication at all times was fantastic!! So we at last stayed at The Gallivant and wow what an experience!! On arrival the staff were so welcoming, booking us in and showing us round the place. The shared spaces, such as the bar the reading room and restaurant are completed to a really high standard and the bedroom was really comfortable with a fantastic shower!! Pre dinner we enjoyed a few glasses of lovely English wines and then had an excellent two course meal which was cooked to perfection! We slept really well in a really cosy comfortable bed and woke to a relaxing yoga class with Katie followed by one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Real shame we only had the one night… I could have easily stayed all weekend. Thanks to all the Gallivant staff for making our stay so memorable!! What a wonderful experience!!

We had such a lovely stay at the Gallivant. All the extra touches such as the wellies and raincoats at the door were very much appreciated. It was a really cosy and welcoming environment.

The food was lovely - I particularly enjoyed the spread on offer at breakfast and thought the duck eggs were delightful. The Bloody Mary station was also a wonderful touch.

Thanks for a wonderful break!

We paid £285 for a standard garden room. Plus £25 for our doggie. The room was nice, but small| No room for a wardrobe just space around the bed to walk. Comfy bed. There were no tea and coffee making facilities so if you wanted a couple of coffees you had to go out to the bar area and pay for them. Nice shower, no bath.||There are other bigger rooms available with tea and coffee which I think are around £100 more per night!||Everything is very expensive. We had two halves of lager on arrival called "schooners" which were just over a half pint...perhaps 2/3 pint? These were £8 each which then had an extra 10% added on for a service charge when you check out. Spirits wines etc were similarly priced so that's all we had during our visit.|Nice bar area with real fire and lovely friendly staff.|We considered dining in the restaurant but the reviews on here (overpriced and nothing special) put us off so we drove the 7 minutes to Rye to explore and found some much better options there.||We did have a couple of desserts and coffees later in the evening. Both desserts around a tenner. Ice cream and creme Broulee. Very small portions and both served nearly melted. I had my ice cream replaced and it was better but still half melted. Again 10% added on at checkout.||Breakfast was ok but not what you would expect for the price. No cooked options! If you want anything hot there are two options...toast that you make yourself or boiled eggs which again you have to make yourself in a communal boiler. Cold meat, yoghurt, cheese, some nuts and sponge cake are brought to you. The only fruit was some sliced plum. No croissants, pain au chocolats etc so a but poor really. Guess they want to save the cost of paying a chef every breakfast?||On arrival you are told that there is filtered water in your room. If you drink any of it you are charged £5 with free refills or offered tap water.|Seemed a bit cheap and in keeping with feeling squeezed for everything once you arrive. |An extra £25 for your dog is about standard but everywhere where we have paid that before go to the trouble of at least providing a little doggie bag of treats as a sweetener but not here.||Once we visited Rye we realised that it is a much nicer place than Camber which only really has a Pontins and static caravan park. If visiting again we would stop there as the hotels are much less expensive and there are plenty of nice places to eat and drink too. The Galivant is close to the beach but for the sake of a 7 minute drive you are much better off staying in Rye. |So a mixed review really. Very overpriced for every aspect but a nice enough hotel and friendly staff to look after you. Don't mind paying for quality but the food we experienced and the small room and lack of tea and coffee did not justify the hype or price. We stayed in Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells the night before and every aspect was better and it was only £120 per night. Do yourselves a favour and give Rye a try instead.

We absolutely loved it here and are already planning our next trip! The staff were exceptionally helpful, especially when we first arrived and were so incredibly welcoming. The guy who greeted us (we didn’t ask his name annoyingly) was so kind and helpful, and made such a fuss of our dog, Isla, which was very thoughtful and made us feel right at home. The whole atmosphere is insanely relaxing, calming and cosy - especially with the tasteful Christmas decorations. The food was out of this world, as was the wine selection and morning yoga was the cherry on the top. The proximity to the beach is just incredible and so the Gallivant is easily top of our list for our favourite hotels. Big thanks to the whole team and we’ll see you again soon!

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The things that stand out are the combination of beauty and cosyness of the environment you have created. The friendliness, and helpfulness of staff was more than I have ever experienced in a hotel and it made you feel that you were so looked after. Thank you. The food was utterly delicious and after a very busy week I felt so cared for and nourished. Being able to take a yoga class as a part of the package was an extra bonus. If I had to rate my stay out of 10 it would be 11. Thank you so much and please keep doing what you are doing.
