I was in the Ruby Frost ward for nearly two months. At times I had a really good time but sometimes I had to beg for fresh air and sometimes for food.

The staff got better as I improved. I miss many of the staff members like Sheriff, Jack, Nicki, Karen, Ruth, Isaac, Howard, Lawrencia and many more. I hope you guys are doing good. It took a while for me to understand that you were actually helping me. Sorry for being harsh in the beginning. Take care.

Told me to email to discuss but then when I've told CQC, they've denied it all, think we got some liars here.

Maybe treat patients with respect, all I'm going to say is if you are sectioned, avoid this place like it's the plague cos your going to come out worse than you went in.

Let's just add, if you have a mental breakdown or someone uses slurs against you it's not taken seriously and the staff lie about it all.

When reviewing cctv turns out the cameras are magically not working or they have deleted the evidence, it is a place that is full of corruption.

Organised a visit 2 days in advance, got there and the receptionist didn’t seem to know I was booked in. Sat in reception for an hour whilst they tried to find a carer to support, meant to have 1 hour slot and they gave me 15 minutes. The carer couldn’t give me any details as she only just met the patient that day, as soon as we got out the visitor room she was eager to rush the patient back to their room again. Suddenly, the paramedics are at the door ready to take the patient to a different hospital in a different city without my knowledge! Hospital management seems diabolical, no communication and lack of empathy for patients. If you want to feel better… stay away from Farndon!

I'm a current inpatient here, I've experienced chest pains and abdomen pain with accompanying vomiting for 3 hours plus, the on call doctor said that there was nothing wrong with me, didn't see me no nothing!!

I'm still sat here in pain and in agony but no one seems in the foggiest concerned about me.

They've also double dosed my medication, I asked for codeine, gave me one, was sick so gave me another 60mg tablet to 'replace' the previous one, im now sat here I feel like I'm on planet 900 with how dizzy I am.

Pulse rate was 53bpm when they checked aswell, I feel like police may need to be informed and CQC to shut this place down before someone dies of mistreatment and neglect.

Also the food is absolutely rank in here the poor food looked like had been in my garden pond tbh........

ELYSIUM SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN BEFORE YOU END UP HAVING TO GIVE ME A MASSIVE PAYOUT FOR NEGLECT

Place needs shutting down. Was wrongfully sectioned not on any medication no diagnosis but a doctor who saw me for 5 minutes in 10 days is the expert. I was left without vital medication. Staff are not trained laugh and mock people who have significant mental health issues. No therapies no help just a ward round once a week.

The aster ward . Well what can I say . This is a really badly managed ward . Being here has had a real negate affect on me and halted my recovery . for patients who are high risk to self harm and need high observations there needs get met to some degree , anyone else just gets left aside. There are no female nurses , hardly any permanent staff majority are agency . most not English and cannot even string a sentence together . the ward is crammed with no rooms to go I except your bedroom . the living space is in the corridor . every night there was a different agency nurse . my medication was missed got wrong ( I am bipolar ) I spent my time in bed begging my care team to move me which thankfully they did . there is no privacy , space and you completely lose your dignity . the care was so inconsistent. the noise was horrendous from patients who couldn't seem to be managed . I've been in several hospitals and this is by far the worst . and to think my care team were paying thousands for my care . I've never had to complain before . even my parents had to complain . if you want a theraputic enviroment to recover and you don't want to deteriorateavoid . and this is not rehab as stated on website it is a ward for bpd who are high risk to themselves and need high obs . I did feel for alot of them. stuck there for years making no progress . it was sad to see. something needs to be done about this place . I'm really sad to leave this review

Service users need to be given things so they are able to occupy themselves and staff to encourage this, at least they would feel they have something to get out of bed for. There needs to be a better system for relatives to be able to stay in contact instead of having to call up to 10 times before the phone is answered on the ward.
As far as I have seen these units make people deteriorate for them to become well activities need to be put into place so they feel life is worth living !!

Aster unit really needs to improve . The care there is very poor . The ward is run solely by a ward manager . no deputy manager or Head of care . The only people that get at least some support on here are those that self harm the rest get pushed aside . There is very little structure to the ward . very few permanent staff majority are agency some who have very limited experience in mental health . nurses ignore patients requests . patients bullying other patients . The ward is tiny with no theraputic rooms . The noise level of distressed patients doors banging . Agency nursed getting medications wrong and running out and not reordering quick enough . it's a sad place to be with patients stuck there for a long time seeing little improvement then being moved elsewhere .the food was poor but the staff were fed while patients weren't able to have there dietary needs met . if you or your care team are thinking of moving here I would suggest looking around first . One positive is the consultant is very nice and gives patients time but she seems oblivious to what goes on other ward
