I have been a member of the Western College Surgery since it first opened over 30 years ago. Back then, it was an excellent surgery, and my doctor was outstanding. However, my recent experience has been very disappointing.

I received a message asking me to come in for a blood test, so I called the surgery to book an appointment. The receptionist informed me that there was no record of this on their database and that she needed to check with the IT department before getting back to me. Later, I received another call asking for more details about the text message, but despite this, I was not allowed to book an appointment to see a doctor or have the blood test.

Since then, no one has contacted me, leaving me feeling frustrated and overlooked. Whatever happened to patient-centered care? The level of service I have experienced recently is very disappointing compared to the high standards this surgery once had.

they are so nice and attentive. the place is beautiful too. last time i went there was not a lot of people waiting and they attended me fast.

I wish people would stop complaining about things that can not be controlled by one GP surgery. It's a problem caused by years of Tory government.

I'd like to thank the admin staff, the reception staff, the nurses and the doctors for always being lovely and caring, and dealing with things as quickly as they can under immense pressure.

My family have been using this practice for around 30 years! And I cannot recommend it enough. I have never struggled to get an appointment when I've needed one, and always found reception staff and nurses friendly and helpful, and GPs have always been empathetic and caring, taking the time to explain things clearly whether over the phone or in person, even though they are no doubt under the same pressures as lots of the NHS. Also a beautiful building which makes visiting the Dr a little more pleasant!

Doctor was very thorough, concerned and patient. Gave me as much time as I needed and even called me back the next day. I gave nothing but praise for Dr Gabriella.

I cannot praise the prompt action carried out by Dr Baker high enough. I was able to book a face to face appointment for the same day complaining of abdominal pain. Dr Baker arranged for blood tests that afternoon. At 6.45 that evening Dr Baker phoned as the blood tests had returned. He advised me to go to the surgical assessment unit at the BRI where he had organised an admission. At midnight I had an CT scan confirming appendicitis. I had an appendectomy and after a few days discharged under NHS & home.
I am well aware that the NHS is under huge amount of pressure but when it works it works! Thank you for the prompt action from all involved in my care.

We’re sadly leaving this practice, as we have just moved outside Bristol.
We have always managed to get an appointment through their amazing kind and patient team, especially for my 3 year old boy, they always make time to check him without hesitation if there’s something wrong. You do have to wait a while on the phone, but I think this is the same with every single surgery in the UK.
The staff don’t seem to get enough appreciation looking at the reviews. So I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team.
