Let's face it, none of us particularly enjoys going into hospital but when it's necessary, the experience, care and peace of mind is paramount. I was fortunate enough to meet my consultant, Mr Praveen Panose, after he diagnosed my grandson with a rare condition that found him unable to walk for a few months. After suffering an injury to my hip playing golf in February 2024, I was frustrated that after 5 months of 'care' under my NHS doctors, my condition remained undiagnosed. With extreme ongoing pain, unable to walk, sleep deprivation and complete frustration, my daughter recommended Praveen. After just one consultation, I felt I had some hope and a plan of action was established. This involved three MRI's. blood tests and X-Rays. This resulted in defining my issues as osteoarthritis particularly affecting my left hip. At this point I chose to have a pain relieving steroid and anti-inflammatory injection to ease the pain and give me some respite during the wait for surgery. After more MRI's and tests, a date was set for my hip replacement at this wonderful hospital for 22nd January 2025. I was over the moon and eager to get on with my treatment. The day arrived and I was admitted to Spire Gatwick with a warm and welcoming smile from Abi, on reception. Having nothing better to do, I resolved to make a list of everyone who cared for me during my 28 hour stay! Firstly though, my room was more like you'd hope to find in a fine hotel. Spotlessly clean (as you'd expect), spacious and airy, I felt very relaxed and ready for my procedure which took place late in the afternoon. My wife was happy to settle in to my room during my procedure and was looked after by the staff too. So, in alphabetical order, here is a list of the fantastic people I have to thank for their fabulous care and support:-

Abi - reception, Alex - nurse, Angelo - nurse, Angie - nurse,
Anna - anaesthetist, Anne-Marie - pre op nurse, Aoife - nurse,
Carlo - nurse, Drew - food/drinks, Erika - nurse, Greg - op nurse,
Hester - physio, Jo - food/drinks, Julius - nurse, Karen - nurse
Lorraine - op nurse, Michelle - pharmacy, Mohammed - Resident Medical Officer, Mr Praveen Panose - Consultant, Sarah - food/drinks, Tracey - food/drinks, Val - physio
+3 on rounds - didn’t remember names, so sorry team! That’s almost one member of staff per hour! 😳

There must have been many more behind the scenes as well and do forgive me if I have incorrectly defined your roles, no offence intended.

I was discharged just 22 hours after my procedure and am delighted to report that my recovery is going very well as a result of following the very clear post operative recommendations. I have visited the hospital twice in the last 8 days for dressing changes and am now looking forward to this Wednesday when my stitches are being removed and there's a physio session.

Summary. I cannot remember ever feeling so valued, confident and cared for in any previous hospital attendances and highly recommend this hospital. It's the teamwork and people that make all the difference, isn't it? These are the best. Heartfelt thanks to you all from me, my wife and family, friends and golfing buddies! Bill

Had surgery today and was amazed with staff positivity, kindness and mainly laugh but all so professional too.
Fantastic, especially Erika & Karen, who were more in person with me but of course Mr Swinn & the anaesthetist
Thank you all very good job 👏

Had tymphanoplasty in a day-care unit on the 27th of January. My surgeon S. Khemani was very friendly and professional. The surgery was nice and early. I arrived by 7am, was in the operating room around 10am and off home about 3pm. Nurses were lovely both the ones that visit you post surgery and also the person in the recovery area. Anaesthetist Dr Van Damme made cannulating seem easy and pain free.

The hospital is clean, bright and modern and reception area has great coffee machines. The receptionists are friendly and my appointments have been on time. Plenty of parking spaces and you just need to log your reg number upon arrival. You are also able to collect your prescription meds in the hospital and the staff members are very friendly and explain everything in details. This hospital just doesn’t have that creepy dark hospital feeling to it. The interior is bright and furniture a lot less hospital-like

Two weeks ago my daughter had her tonsils removed by dr lim
I was overwhelmed with how good we was looked after by all members of the team
My daughter was absolutely scared out of her mind and so was I knowing she was so upset about the whole process of being put to sleep.
All the nurses were fantastic and I could t of asked for better treatment even down to the staff serving food.
I felt a bit rude at the end of the day asking if we could go home as we were ready and I was getting really tired but the staff just took it so well and never made me feel bad for asking.
Would like to thank them all for such a caring and professional environment.
Very happy 😃 thank you 🙏🏼

Had arthroscopy to left knee. Overall service first rate. All efficient and thorough. Care excellent.
Physiotherapist very good and charming young person (Erin). Very solicitous and conscious of my age in suggesting exercise routine. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I went in for a cholecystectomy as a daycase under Mr Jethwa.
The ward clerk showed me to my room and she explained everything pretty clearly. Soon after, Sue came in to take a food order for after my procedure. She made sure my partner was offered a cup of tea and that was very appreciated.
Michelle, Lizel and Sister Andi looked after me before and after my procedure. They were sensitive to my needs and organised for me to stay the night when I wasn’t making the expected recovery.
The theatre staff were amazing. Paul the ODP and Francesca the recovery nurse were both very good to me. A thank you to my anaesthetist for making small talk and ease some of my anxiety and to my surgeon for fixing me and checking up on me when I was feeling unwell.
When I was transferred on the ward for the night, Grace and Rowena cared for me and helped me with my post operative pain and nausea. I had to press the call bell a few times and they were always very responsive and kind. I was never made to feel like a nuisance and the care I was given was absolutely second to none.
In the morning Jo came in my room and made breakfast for me. Maggie, my day nurse, organised medication and she made sure I had all the information I needed to make a good recovery at home. A special thank you to each and everyone of you for making my stay as comfortable as it could have been and for looking after me.
I have been impressed by the level of care, compassion, professionalism and responsiveness of the staff. The hospital was spotless with modern facilities. I would definitely recommend Spire Gatwick Park to my family and friends.

My mum had a procedure done and the staff from start to finish was amazing. She was well looked after by the team and especially Andi and Lizel. Thank you both so much for making mum comfortable and less anxious.

This is to recognise the skills and approach of a Gatwick Park physiotherapist; Erin Spragg. She collected me as a grumpy old hop-a-long two weeks after my knee surgery and has transformed me back into a reasonably fit adult, following all the sports that I used to love.
She performed this minor miracle with a determined approach to exercise but one that was flexible and innovative. Not everything would work for me, but she was pragmatic enough to adapt routines to ensure I would enjoy them while my body was repairing itself.
If you are looking for someone who will listen to you as a patient, who is personable and friendly, who motivates you to push yourself, then I would strongly recommend Erin.
She pampers and pushes in equal measure.
I don't believe I would have recovered as quickly or as fully without her continued support.
