This is the second time I've used Spire Alexandra services, and unfortunately, it hasn't been the smoothest experience. While I won’t dive into my consultant experience to keep this concise, post-operation I was left feeling unsupported (apart from Melanie who was a superstar in resolving in the end). I had to chase for answers, unsure of how often I should be seen. I found myself repeatedly calling for updates, which added unnecessary stress. More concerningly, my wound care seemed inconsistent. Different nurses gave conflicting advice, and I often had to redo my wound dressing at home as it was done incorrectly using my own supplies because they had limited materials. On one occasion, they didn’t even have the correct size plasters, which is surprising for a clinic.

Moving on to my second experience, when booking an appointment with my consultant, I initially scheduled a time that suited me as I needed to pick up my children from school. However, I was asked to reschedule because I was informed that the consultant didn’t prefer late appointments on Fridays. I accommodated this request without issue. But on the day of the appointment, I received multiple missed calls 50 minutes beforehand. When I called back, I was transferred to a couple of people, only to be told that my appointment had been cancelled due to a family emergency on the consultant's part. I respect emergencies happen, but it raised concerns given the context. Now, more than nine days have passed and I have not received any follow-up call to reschedule or even an apology.

Thankfully, my condition has improved on its own, but the lack of communication and care has left me questioning whether I would return to Alexander Spire Hospital for future treatments. I will be exploring other options, such as KIMS, to see if their services align better with my expectations

Advice - The hospital can quickly improve their services by enhancing communication and follow-up care, ensuring that patients are not left chasing for answers or updates. Establishing clear post-op care schedules and consistent guidance from medical staff would reduce confusion and improve patient confidence. Additionally, ensuring clinics are well-stocked with necessary supplies and avoiding last-minute appointment cancellations without prompt rescheduling would greatly enhance patient experience. Proactively reaching out to offer updates or apologies when things go wrong would show a more patient-centered approach, fostering trust and reliability.

You are treated like a celebrity, the staff are amazing and the care is something else. I arrived at 0720 this morning and the staff were walking out to my vehicle to meet me with the biggest welcome I’ve ever experienced. I’ve come in today for a knee operation and my surgeon Rohit Jain is amazing , lovely kind man. Everything is explained in detail, my nurse looking after me is Anthony he is outstanding simply the best , as Tina Turner would say, nothing is to much trouble you are looked after as if you are in a 5 star hotel. You get a choice of food for after your operation, I’m on my second orange juice already and food is on its way and it’s only 10:30 am.
I can’t thank you enough , you are a lovely team of kind lovely individuals. Wishing you all well.

Take care Paul x

I had a full knee replacement on 3rd Oct. at the Spire Alexandra. Walderslade. Copperfield Ward.
From the moment I walked in, the receptionist, the nurses, the porters, the consultant, the pharmacist, and the anaesthetist were first class and deserves high credit. Such a happy place
Even a courtesy call a few days after the operation to make sure all was still ok
Thank you all

Dear Spire Alexander,
Thanks to each member of the medical team for the exceptional care I received during my recent procedure under general anesthesia. From the moment I arrived, I felt reassured by your professionalism, empathy, and dedication to patient care.
Mr. Penman, your expertise and calm demeanour made a significant difference in my experience. The way you explained the procedure and addressed all my concerns put my mind at ease.
The nursing staff, especially Nurse Amanda, were incredibly attentive and compassionate. You worked hard to make me comfortable before and after the procedure. The level of care I received was exemplary, and I am truly grateful for your kindness.
The anesthesiology team also deserves special mention for their ability to manage my anesthesia so smoothly. Your thoroughness in explaining the process and monitoring my condition throughout gave me a high level of confidence in your hands.
Thank you once again for your exceptional care and dedication. I appreciate everything you did to make my procedure and recovery as comfortable as possible.

We booked a last minute US scan for our son, who is 13. Couldn't have asked for nicer staff, they were so good with him as he was so nervous, made him feel at ease and chatted to him the whole way through. I would highly recommend.

The receptionists can't do enough for you. They make you feel welcome & calm - I was anxious coming in for a procedure, but they put me at my ease. I've never had such genuine attention at any other hospital. It's what sets Spire apart from any other hospitals.

I recently underwent hip replacement surgery at the Alex and have to say the care I received was exemplary. Pre admission my surgeon James Smith explained every aspect of the procedure and gave me and my husband total confidence. Not only is Mr. Smith a first class surgeon he is very approachable. As for the staff on Copperfield ward, they are a totally professional, caring team who are so supportive and show a genuine interest in the people in there care, my nurses Chi Chi and Hannah were just amazing.
