Ive been a customer for several years but today I had awful customer service and have taken my custom elsewhere. I’ve just been sat waiting for my opticians appointment. Very busy, and as a previous review states, there are lots of staff walking around. Arrived early for my appointment and then proceeded to sit in the waiting area for 40 minutes seeing 6 people who come in after me arrive and be whisked straight off for their tests. I went back to the front of house staff and asked why I had been waiting for 40 minutes while others barely had to wait. She replied “well you are booked in”. No apology. No remorse. She then asked if I wanted to cancel the appointment, so no offer to rectify the situation. I said I would take my custom elsewhere. Again no apology just a “thanks for coming”. I then went to Boots Opticians further up the road and received fantastic customer service and was made to feel very welcome. There are better opticians in this town than Specsavers who clearly don’t care about their repeat customers.

Wish I had gotten the name of the man who had served me this day, as when I have been previous to this the staff have always been helpful, I’d already rang prior to coming in to order replacement frames as mine had snapped, I had them on my face and the arm fell off. They said would be no problem to exchange and under warranty. Came in to exchange my frames and explained again to the front desk, and had to explain again to the person who I was seated with,(no communication) very abrupt and like he couldn’t wait for me to leave, telling me I had to pay for the frame as I had broken it. Explained that I only wore this set of glasses for driving and are kept in a case other than when they are on my face and I would hope they should be a little more robust for £160, he took them in a huff, swapped my lenses into the new frame and when he came back just shoved them into my hand not explaining whether I’d still be charged or even saying anything at all. Maybe should try job that doesn’t involve customer facing.

Lighting around new glasses to try on too bright .especially for folk with aide pupils ,, You need to up date the experience!! How can we see what we look like without our glasses on!! On line sites you can see glasses on your face ,,,, I went to collect my glasses and found the lenses were no different to my present glasses !!! Very annoyed and wasted my time . ! The optician recommended an updated prescription!! But it wasn’t updated and scammed me into new glasses , I had spent ages choosing lovely frames a few weeks before , the staff were good in the foyer and assisted well. I paid for a scan on my eyes and got told the optician would ring me with the results !!! She didn’t , 😡 I rang … eventually , to be told it must be ok or they would have rung me I question the quality of training of the staff there and wonder still what my scan was Usually my previous optician had shown me my scan on a big screen and I had a photo copy of my eyes scanned . Needless to say I was offered my money back . Thankyou I won’t recommend spec savers to anyone , Eyes are our health ! And more care and thought needs to be taken in future ,

When I recently attended for an annual eye test at Specsavers in Shrewsbury I was greeted immediately upon entering the store, I then waited only a couple of minutes before I had an eye scan, and then waited only a few more minutes before I was seen by the optician, whose manner and attention to detail were excellent.
