I wanted to send a wee review to say thanks to everyone at the surgery! Especially Dr Boyd. This has been the best GP I have ever had by a country mile!

I have struggled with my mental health since I was 15 years old and have always found it difficult going to the doctor's for help due to being dismissed and left out in the cold. Dr Boyd and the whole team at the Shawlands surgery have been unbelievably helpful, kind and caring.

It took 3 years to get my ADHD diagnosis since moving to Glasgow by no fault of the surgery (the waiting list is insane). I couldn't have hung on as long as I have if it wasn't for them all. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in my entire adult life thanks to you all. Because of this I am finally getting my weight under control too which I had given up on a long time ago. I have lost 16kg due to their help and willingness to help me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lovely practice with a very helpful and responsive reception staff. It has been consistently good service ever since I moved to this area. Doctor appointments are available at a reasonable timescale although if you want to see a specific GP you may, understandably, have to wait a little longer.

The surgery were incredibly supportive in helping to care for my Mum as she received end of life care. I have only positive things to say about my experiences with the receptionists and the GPs. I feel listened to and have found the Drs to be kind and responsive to my health concerns.

Was a patient for a long time, no longer.
Doctors refused to take my partner seriously or further investigate many issues - dismissing due to stress, what turned out to be varicose veins in the pelvis. Most doctors have a very poor manner in dealing with patients, acting as if our presence was an inconvenience, rushing through each appointment with solemn faces. We would be heavily chastised and even refused appointments for being no more than 3 minutes late, and yet were usually expected to wait at least 10 minutes after appointment time to actually be seen, which happens yes, but the attitude towards such minor lateness shows they value their own time much more than ours as patients.
The best doctors we both dealt with were always locums, who would show the gulf in service with both bedside manner and time given.
Receptionists, with the exception of one that we encountered were all severely rude, hugely poor in dealing with the public in person, and would always make you feel unwanted or like a waste of time. Again only seemed to value their own time. Would make you feel stupid for asking questions. Got to the point we actually put off going to the doctor because of the atmosphere and treatment we would receive, when we should feel happy and free to visit our doctor with any health concerns.
Genuinely seems as if everyone has given up, doesn't care, and just does their job because it's their job - 'careerists'. No level of empathy or understanding to be found anywhere.
The positive difference was obvious in almost every way once we switched doctors.
Do not recommend if you want a doctor that cares.

Been with Battlefield surgery and wasnt impressed but then moved and registered. I was allocated Dr McFarlan who I must say is one of the best and most understanding doctors I've had in years. She remembers you details and personal problems and speaks to you on a one to one basis and doesn't stare into a computer screen. Most comfortable I have felt at a doctors in a long time. Receptionist aren't the usual abrupt doctors receptionist that cant wait to get you off the phone you find elsewhere.

Not usually one to write a review unless it’s a good one - credit where credits due and all! But felt the need to share my encounter with this surgery this morning as I was so appalled.
I called as I have just moved to the area therefore need to change doctors surgery, and my 4 month old son needed to be seen as on Friday we were advised by an out of hours hospital he had croup. So being that it hasn’t improved, and my current surgery was uncontactable, I reached out to this one for some help, as I would be registering there anyway. I spoke with a polite receptionist who unfortunately told me there was no routine appointments available today, but being that it was to see a baby and assuming could hear how stressed I was, checked with a doctor. I was then addressed by a doctor, Dr Margo McNicol I believe, who told me it was not their responsibility to see me son, they will not see him today and in the most patronising manor ever told me if I’m that concerned ‘phone an ambulance’. Totally shocked that a doctor could show a complete lack of compassion towards a 4 month old baby in need. I did not need to be told to call an ambulance, as it is beyond unnecessary, all I needed was my son to be checked over by a GP.. baring in mind it is my right as a tax payer.. we pay your wages remember!
Anyway, in summary, if this surgery can show a lack of humanity towards a small child, what hope has anyone else got. Safe to say I WILL NOT be registering here and I don’t advise it for anyone else moving to the area.
