I have just returned from a four night trip to Dunoon; staying at The Selborne Hotel.|The hotel nestles wonderfully onto the Clyde. The views from the windows are spectacular, and they run right across the hotel, which is enchanting as you sip a drink whilst taking in the scenery.|The staff at Selborne have excellent customer service our assigned waiter Ben was informative, kind, helpful and extremely professional.|The food was very good, there was a great selection to choose from (with starter, main course and dessert) and it was perfectly presented and very delicious. The fish was mouthwatering, the breakfast had everything you could need including; cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, various toppings, kippers, cooked traditional/vegetarian options and tea and coffee, all evening meals came with a complimentary drink. The menu was |The room was clean, the beds were just right for a perfect nights sleep (firm enough mattress and soft pillows with pristine cotton sheets.) The shower has great pressure (even though we were on the top floor) and never lost its heat. The bath tub was very deep for a soothing soak. The towels supplied were of excellent quality, with a high cotton count (there was a bath sheet and hand towel each, with a floor towel provided too).|There was good quality shower gels, soap etc provided.|There was a kettle with mixed sachets of tea/coffee and milk, and biscuits provided (you could help yourself downstairs if you ran low, free of charge.) |The room had a full length wardrobe and chest of drawers with a hairdryer. You can obtain an iron and ironing board from reception. There is a good size tv with remote and free WiFi on site.|The hotel had bingo every evening and local entertainment which was great fun, from disco, karaoke and professional singers. The bar was very cheap|The front of house staff were very helpful, they couldn’t do enough for you and gave us lots of information on what to do in and around Dunoon. For the excursions, you could order a picnic lunch from The Selborne, the day before which I was a nice touch.|Dunoon is beautiful and just a ten minute walk from the Selborne, it has little independent shops, a Morrisons, various local cafes/pubs and of course the local ferry if you want to venture across the water.|I travelled with Alfa travel and had several excursions, our driver Dave was amazing, we had very stormy weather on the way home but Dave drove professionally and safely and got us from A to B. Dave was extremely informative (he’d been a coach driver for 20 plus years) and told us everything we needed to know, he was courteous, professional and kept checking that we was okay and informed us of any changes/hazards; he is a credit to Alfa Travel and made our trips fun and worthwhile.|My stay was amazing, it was the wonderful rest I had hoped for and so much more; I would definitely recommend Alfa Travel coach holidays and of course The Selborne as a perfect retreat, where everything is catered for and nothing is too much trouble…..|Can’t wait to re-book…..

We have just returned from an Alfa coach trip to the Selborne Hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and seemed really pleased to welcome you to their hotel. The food was good and plentiful and our waiter, I think it was Joshua, was very good checking everything was gluten free for my husband. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. There was bingo and entertainment on every night and free wifi throughout the hotel. In all it was a very good hotel

Stayed in this hotel 13 years ago, it was nice then but fabulous now. We paid extra this time for a room at the back with a lovely view, it was well worth it. The room was warm enough for us with the radiator but there was an electric heater as well should you need it and extra blankets can be requested at reception. Bathroom was a good size with a lovely shower.||||The lounge and dining room are all open plan now with a good size dance floor between them. Food was the best we have ever had on a coach trip, good choice and good size portions all served quickly by friendly helpful staff. We even got a complementary drink with dinner which was a nice touch.||||The first time we stayed here the bar did not open until 5.30pm but now it is open from 11am. There is a lovely garden overlooking the Clyde it would be lovely to sit out there in the summer with a nice cold drink. ||||Entertainment every night but the inevitable bingo first! Also had a quiz in the afternoon.||||"Would definitely recommend this hotel, the staff are all lovely and very helpful

We were pleased with our choice of hotel , the food and service was good, the room servicing excellent, and the views amazing. The entertainment was so-so, just alright but not anything more. Our room was 302, and when it was windy, it was really cold as the window reveal was actually split and letting the wind whistle in . This did spoil the break, all it needs is resealing. The half price bar was good. We’d go back, but hopefully not in the same room unless the defect is fixed.

Very nice hotel. We were on a coach trip with Alfa and had a great week. Room was large although not a good view (car park) but comfy bed and hot shower. Food was best we have had on an Alfa trip..plenty of choice and a superb waiter Jesus who really looked after us. Reception staff and housekeeping were also very good. Not much to do in dunoon but easy enough to get passenger ferry and bus to plenty of places on our free day. Overall a great time with a lovely crowd of people..would recommend.

Just returned from a 5 day visit with Alfa. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming..I had requested a quiet room and was very pleased with room 128, a large twin room with view.Immaculately clean and extremely comfortable.|The dining arrangements worked well and my waitress Lucy was attentive and efficient.Meals were well presented and plentiful.Credit to the chefs for their speedy service.Alfa hotels all seem to serve the same menus, but sometimes with rather different results.I can honestly say that the meals this week were some of the best I’ve had anywhere.Bar prices would have been good even at full price and the free drink with dinner was a nice touch.|This was my 4th visit and I look forward to seeing you again in the future
