After having an opportunity to go to rehab in 1998 snatched away it took over 25 years to find my way back there again. I chose Sefton Park for three main reasons:-
1) The type of therapy.
2) The architecture.
3) It's by the seaside.
Sounds crazy I know but boy did I fall on my feet!
Lizzie & Graham along with all the staff here have created an oasis in the chaos of life that we addicts live. As soon as I walked through the door I was made to feel at home and that's what it felt like for the six months I spent there. I've called many places 'home' that I can't even remember now. This is one I know I'll never forget. At Sefton I found one of the best families I've ever come across. A family that genuinely cares for you and wants the best for everyone who walks through those doors.
Don't get me wrong, I had to put the work in too. I had to face things about myself I really didn't want to, I had to hear things about about myself I didn't care to hear too-it can be hard-but the councillors and support staff have created an environment where it's safe to do that, a place where I could be honest, open & vulnerable without judgement...a place to be my authentic self. Took me a while but what a relief. Due to everyone's love, care and patience (my peers included) I got there. You don't only have the full support of the owners and staff but also of a whole house of people going through the exact same thing as yourself. The value of this is not to be underestimated. The support and aftercare available is unrivalled from what else I've seen and heard of.
I don't believe any rehab can "fix" anyone but what they can do is provide you with the tools, understanding & know how to go back out into the world and be the person you were meant to be.
This is a very special place!
I'll be forever grateful to Sefton Park but helping me to help myself change my life. Today my life's pretty simple by a lot of people's standards but it's mine again after over 40 years in one addiction or another. It's a life I never truly believed was possible again especially at my age! (57) I don't say this lightly believe you me but I think I can honestly say I'm actually happy.
I can't recommend this place enough!!!

Sefton Park changed my life it's the best the staff from the counselling team key workers the chief even admin medical are all the very best and the owners lizzie and graham are worth there weight in gold and diamonds such beautiful people I was there for 3 months I couldn't wish for better a better place to help with my addiction if I could rate a thousand stars I would anyone who is offered a bed at this rehab is being given a golden opportunity to get there life back I love everyone at sefton.

My time at Sefton Park was a life changing experience. I arrived there, an absolute shell of a man with little hope nor direction, believing myself to be beyond help. What I encountered was a program of therapy tailored to my needs, with counsellors and support staff who were always helpful, attentive and understanding of not only my needs, but also my misgivings. Every counsellor offered a unique perspective on my life story, it was the first time in my life I felt heard. Following the conclusion of my treatment I was offered an aftercare program and assistance with relocating into the local area, and I have been lucky enough to be a volunteer at the facility also. Sefton Park Rehab saved my life and will forever have my gratitude.

Sefton Park has helped me change my life. I entered broken but finally my life has started to have meaning. They genuinely save lives. One year on from when I first posted up, I've just left the 2019 reunion & what a wonderful afternoon. Warm, caring and professional counsellors that helped me discover myself.
After years of self-medicating I'd forgotten what it was like to be 'normal' and have feelings, to be comfortable in my own skin. Through one to one and group therapy I started to understand so much more about myself not just as an adult in addiction, but as a human being in general.
Sefton Park not only helped me start to get my life back, they gave me tools to help me remain clean and sober and still offer support when needed, nearly three years after walking through those doors.
