I have been with this Doctors for over 4 years, and have never been able to see one. I am always given a nurse!
I work so am limited to when I am able to go.
You are told to ring at 8 am, and then you are in a long queue, and with working are not able to hang on for the long periods needed to obtain an appointment.
I changed Doctors hoping to be able to more easily get appointments, but have found this has not been the case.
Scarborough is becoming a place of very few good Doctors, and that really worries me as I get older.

What to say about this surgery? Dr. Cole is an excellent doctor and I have nothing but good things to say. The way things are run however is awful. Need to phone at 8am to try to get an appointment and I say try because 9 out of 10 times you’ll be booked an appointment a month away. When you are booked an appointment it will be a telephone call or you’ll be asked to travel all the way to Danes Dyke surgery to be seen. Even if you explain that you physically cannot make the trip there you won’t get anywhere with the reception staff. No empathy and extreme lack of care to patients. They change procedures that affects patients without telling patients. It’s so bad I’m now in the process of applying for another surgery.

Absolutely everything is too much trouble. I think with the exception of 1 receptionist ; in the 2 years I lived in I never spoke with anyone who had any customer skills . They missed a diabetic condition for 6 months until I became poorly. Back in London 24 hrs to Register with GP , receptionist helpful and pleasant.

Two months ago they stopped my asthma inhailer after 40 years of being an asthmatic. I have been having asthma attacks the past month and they still refuse to send me my asthma inhaler until I have a review, they set me a date without consultation that landed on a work day… I have still not received my repeat prescription… no doctor (I would like to know who my DR is) would refuse an asthmatic an inhailer especially with the high pollen count… I have been suffering for weeks with asthma and am thinking of seeing a solicitor to sue them for neglect and misconduct. I am now taking any in hailer I can get my hands on wether it be friends or the black market. Desperate people do desperate things

Great surgery. I am actually registered at the other surgery on Scalby Rd but had to see a nurse for a procedure last week at South Cliff. What a fantastic positive experience. The nurse and her fellow colleague went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at ease. I was informed about everything that would happen in the procedure. I was also given a prescription by the nurse after which meant I didn’t then have to then see the doctor which was super helpful. Everyone really friendly and nice. I am really happy to be with Scarborough Medical Group and I recommend 🙂

Had a major problem breathing and coughingup blood. The receptionist said no doctors available so said I could get a call from a doctor. Not much came from the phone call... just take paracetamol and hot drinks. Went to drop in centre and had a major chest infection.

when I was stood in reception delivering a sample, I thought to save time I would order my repeat prescription. Not possible. I was told to go away and order on the telephone line!! How ridiculous is that when I am talking to receptionist who is sat at the computer screen. ?

I'm not actually at this surgery but the surgery I am with is joined to this one so sometimes I get appointments here.
Generally the call time for South cliffe surgery is quite quick and you can usually get an appointment.
The surgery itself is clean and bright and I prefer it out of the two that I can attend.
Dr Cole at south cliffe surgery is very good, she was good with my children and myself. She has a great bedside manner and is very effective in her practise and in making sure you receive the care that is needed. I would highly recommend her.
I cant say I know much more than that. They seem to have allot of bad reviews online but I imagine that is more to do with the immense pressure all surgeries are under at the moment and lack of staffing which I guess is part of the nature of current times.
So far I can say my experience on a whole has been a very positive one. ✨️
