I walked into A&E, a stumbling old man shedding blood everywhere. I was dealt with immediately by competent, compassionate staff who staunched the blood flow and cleaned me. Subsequent treatment was of the same standard and I cannot praise the whole team too much. Thank you."

My husband was unfortunate to have a stroke on New Years Day. He was rushed to Sussex county hospital and I must say the care he received was fantastic. From the cleaners to the chefs the nurses the occupational therapists the doctors everybody was absolutely fantastic and gave him the best care imaginable. The new hospital wing wards B10 and C10 are a credit to the NHS. I would like to say a big thank you to you all

I was treated as a priority patient having hit my head in a fall. A&E was very busy. It looked like chaos to my visitors. But in reality there were just a lot of people there being treated. Some of the patients were loud, angry, moaning, shouting and not helping anyone. But the staff were helping everyone equally and were brilliant under huge pressure. I was proud of them and so were most being helped. Don't knock the NHS. We all need it.

The new hospital design and layout is utterly bizarreā€”so much empty space, with long distances between everything. Itā€™s deeply flawed. The reception desk is enormous and completely unnecessaryā€”remember, this is public money. The corridors are a maze of long, sterile white walkways.

As for the old wards at the back, the nurses and all staff are wonderful, but the wards themselves are swelteringly hot. Itā€™s incredible how nurses and doctors manage 12-hour shifts with barely any airflow. As a patient, the heat was unbearable. The staff are the only reason it was even remotely tolerable.

The food is some of the worst Iā€™ve ever eatenā€”just junk, the cheapest of the cheap TV-dinner food, with nothing remotely healthy on offer. I wasnā€™t expecting gourmet cuisine, but I also didnā€™t expect food so lacking in nutritional value.

The outcome of my vascular surgery was satisfactory, thanks, but the experience of 8 days in a busy ward was horrendous. The conditions were TOTALLY unhygienic, the cleaners were thorough but you donā€™t see them often enough, our ward lavatory was filthy and reporting it made no difference. My dressings were not adequate (according to what I was later told). Avoid it if you can.

I was referred to the hospital for a chest X-ray. I'd been dreading and postponing it. Eventually I went and was amazed:

Great new light building (I remember it as dark and dingy), friendly staff pointing me in the right direction, in and out within 15 minutes, friendly and efficient radiologists, results back within the hour! (All good!)

The NHS at its best! Thank you!

Cardiac Diagnostic department. Could not have been any kinder and more professional, I sat in the waiting room for some time, while patient was being looked after, all of the staff cared, so much so, it really stood out. Thank you for making a tough time a little more pleasant.

I was recently taken in by ambulance after blacking out at home. I was suffering from a high temperature, flu and dehydration.
I was treated with so much compassion and the care from everyone involved was absolutely first class.
Thank you for taking such good care of me.
