I was confronted with a distressing situation—one I hope never to endure again.Since Thursday, 30th January 2025, I have diligently contacted Priory Medical Practice (48 The Glebe, Clapham, Bedford MK41 6GA) each morning at 8:00 AM, attempting to secure an appointment for my son, who had been experiencing a persistent fever for two days. Initially, I endeavored to manage his symptoms at home, believing medical intervention might be unnecessary. However, as his condition deteriorated, I had no alternative but to seek urgent care at the emergency department, where he was diagnosed with a pulmonary infection and prescribed antibiotics. In a moment of sheer exhaustion—both physical and emotional—I accidentally spilled the bottle of antibiotics and urgently required a replacement prescription from the GP. Concurrently, I sought an appointment for my daughter, who had also developed a fever, in an effort to preempt a worsening condition and mitigate the risk of pneumonia. To my profound dismay, I was informed that only one appointment was available and that my son’s prescription could not be reissued unless he was reassessed by a doctor. This ultimatum placed me in an unconscionable predicament: which of my two sick children deserved medical attention? It is difficult to articulate the anguish of such a decision—a choice no parent should ever be forced to make. When my distress became overwhelming, not a single individual expressed concern or compassion. Reflecting on this experience, I cannot help but invoke the Hippocratic Oath, which solemnly states: "As far as my power and judgment allow, I will prescribe for the good of my patients and protect them from harm and injustice." Would it truly have been an insurmountable task to extend care to a four-year-old child presenting with fever, given that I was already before a physician whose sole purpose was to reissue a prescription? The categorical refusal to examine my daughter compelled me to return to the emergency department, where she was subjected to an agonizing three-hour wait—an ordeal that could have been entirely avoidable.

I had a letter from Addenbrookes saying the GP needed to prescribe a medication. So I went on the website and sent a message to Dispensary saying doctors name and medication required. Rung my pharmacy nothing prescribed. Ring the surgery went through about the medication and asked if they had dispensed it. Got told no I needed to tell them what the letter said, was told we scan 100's of letters we can't follow everyone up. I was told now I had rung they would put it on my repeat, so I ask can you issue a repeat, again got told no you need to do it. So I asked when and how got told Dispensary now shut will be put on my repeat tomorrow ring tomorrow and request a repeat or do it on line using NHS app. I simply give up with this place it is a shambles. I asked if I could book an appointment for the nurse as my new meds are injections I got told no not until you get the medication. (It's weeks waiting for an appointment for the nurse anyway) i cant book an appointment.

Oh my word this is the quietist doctor surgery I have ever been to, very clean and brand new, lots and lots of space to move around. Free car parking is free and very close to the surgery door, I have only been a couple of time and so far so good 😊 af the moment I would definitely recommend it. Even has its own small dispensary.

Very poor as, doctor didn't write re extra blood test need on the system, we all make mistakes, but rectify it, not me having to start whole process again plus 2 days off work/time and extra pain for no reason. Receptionist very unhelpful.

I was a patient at the practice until very recently and would have loved to continue with Priory, but have.moved too far away! I have been a patient there for over 15years. All the staff have always been very kind, helpful and efficient, especially through Covid. I wish to mention, in particular, Dr Field who has been a superb Doctor for all the years I've been her patient. She is so calm, gentle, polite, understanding and extremely knowledgeable and efficient. She is very kind and supportive and always patient and happy to help. She is the best doctor I've known in all my years in the NHS; I'm now 66 yrs old! Many thanks to Priory and Dr Field and I hope my new practice and Dr will be as wonderful! I have been with the practice for a few years now, at the start I wouldn’t even bother to call for an appointment unless desperate as the receptionists were so rude - but the practice has hired lovely new ladies that have been there a while now. Lorraine always goes above and beyond, I’m not sure of the other ladies name but she’s also lovely! I know it’s hard to get appointments everywhere atm, but they really do try their best - especially when it’s to do with children!

Terrible service. One of their practitioners tried to force a patient this morning to take medication they do not wish to take. This is against the NHS constitution and rights of the patients. Not only that, this practitioner also refused to allow the patient to use the NHS services, access denied, again, that is low, appalling, and against the patients rights.

Have had a terrible experience at this surgery. I signed up when I found out I was pregnant with my first child in June 2020. I was never once offered a midwife appointment or one with a Dr. I didn't see the midwife until I was 35 weeks gone! The receptionists are terribly rude and awkward offering very little help. They don't forward your messages nor pass on your requests. Call backs are too short and sometimes don't happen at all. For example I cancelled a midwife appointment at 38 weeks due to not feeling well. The receptionist didn't even ask why I was canceling, offer to pass on a message to my midwife and I've had no contact since to check up on me. For a place pledged to offer care and medical support its in very short supply of both. And I've worked 5years as a clinical receptionist; the differences are uncanny. As soon as possible I'll be changing surgery's. Only positive is that it's clean but that's probably because it's usually empty.
