Back a few years ago (when I was in Primary 4) I on purposely attemped suicide by sticking my finger in an electrical adapter that was active. My Mum took me to this hospital to get checked over and it turned out I was fine. A nice man checked me over and the facility (which was the 24 hour emergency facility) was good.

I was a visitor to Skye and live in Kent. Unfortunately I had a fall whilst out walking and injured my wrist. I attended Portree Hospital, where I was received with courtesy and prompt attention. My wrist was examined by Dr McCabe who asked for XRays and then after further discussion, he asked the Staff Nurse to plaster the wrist.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at the Hospital for their care and kindness.

Please Note Christine Bell. Peter Bell is my husband!

Can the local 'Community Mental Health Team', based at this hospital, really be doing their jobs for the sick, and the local community, if this is the result? Quote from press report:
"NHS Highland have defended mental health service provision in Skye and Lochalsh, following comments made last week by Sergeant Bruce Crawford of Portree police.
A spokesman for the health authority queried Sgt Crawfordโ€™s claim, made at a Skye and Raasay area committee meeting, that 80 per cent of police time is spent dealing with mental health crises."
Doesn't really look like it! - or perhaps far too many mentally-ill people have been moved onto Skye from all over the UK: taking, as well as Police time, a very great deal of local accommodation away from deserving local people particularly the young..

On August 29, 2018 I had a heart attack on the ferry at Uig while waiting for it to leave for Lewis. Paramedics transported me to the Portree Hospital. The nurse practitioner on duty, Alistair, gave me needed medications, evaluated my situation, and called for heli transport to Glasgow. He saved my life. Thank God for the Portree hospital and staff.

I have been in Portree Hospital for FIVE MONTHS So far. Rooms are hovered and mopped clean every day. The staff of nurses rotzte every 12 HOURS.... TWO PER SHIFT.
That's to look after ALL impatient and cover
A & E & serve breakfast. And for a pittance of a wage. They are extremely good at what they do, always have a smile a greet you with a cheery welcome rd h day when their SHIFT begins.
They are constantly being called upon to do everything for the paitients needs, from cleaning up a poo, to fixings the bed sheets.
The catering staff are just as pleasant as the nursing staff, however the vacuumed pack "food" (& i use that word only becuse I dont want to use the alternative, but "stuff" would sum it up better), is mostly TERRIBLE. It's not the kitchens fault. They are NOT ALLOWED TO OFFER YOU ANY FRESH FOOD INCLUDING VEG, SAUSAGE, BACON, FRESH ROLL OR ANY OTHER FOODS WHATSOEVER. EVERYONE COMPLAINS IT IS UTTERLY TERRIBLE WHAT WE ARE OFFERED TO EAT. E.G. THE OTHER DAY WE, FOR OUR EVENING MEAL WERE OFFERED BOILED CABBAGE OR A TOMATO. AND THATS NO LIE.
BUT THEY ALL WORK ON REGARDLESS AND ARE A VERY CLOSE FRIENDLY UNIT ALL TOGETHER.

We dropped by to take a couple of ocean shore photos and got kicked out by a skinny stern-looking woman who ruined our impression of the politeness and kindness of Britons to foreign tourists.

This hospital needs to review their reception staff as a matter of urgency. My husband was in the process of having a stroke & attended reception to ask to see a Dr, was turned away by the receptionist!!!!
