On arrival we were allocated a first floor room. We took the lift, along with a weeks worth of luggage. It stopped on the first floor but the doors refused to open. We had to go up to floor 2 and back down again to get them open. Needless to say we didn't trust it again.|Once out of the lift we followed a long long corridor, went down 9 stairs and back up another 3 before reaching the room. It was the smallest double hotel room we've ever encountered. There was about 2' round each side of the bed and a small bathroom with a tiny sink more suited to a downstairs loo. It was very clean and the bathroom looked to have been recently fitted. The bed was comfortable but we were there on the hottest night of the year so far and we were very warm despite having the window open (no air con).|Before bed we decided to have a cup of tea, but the room had only 1 mug. It took 45 minutes and 2 trips down to reception to get a second mug. There was no phone in the room so calling reception was not an option.|Breakfast was good with enough choice for us, but again more steps. We walked downstairs to reception, back up about 9 steps to reach the restaurant, then down 3 steps to the buffet. All the seating areas were up 3 steps from the buffet. I am not disabled but do currently have a painful knee and I found the constant steps a struggle.|We stayed 2 nights and we're out all day in between. I was surprised on returning at the end of the day to find our room had not been serviced. I don't remember seeing anything to say it wouldn't be, so assume it was an oversight.|The stay was okay, but I would avoid going back because of the stairs and lift.

Wish I'd read the reviews before I booked.||In short, the hotel isn't that nice, our room wasn't set up as a family room when we checked in and the room was dirty, resulting in us not having a room available until 8pm. I have formally complained and no they're just not replying to me. ||Full story...|We arrived at approximately 4.30 and checked in to what should have been a family room for myself, my wife and two children. When we arrived in our room the sofa bed had not been set up for the children and the floor clearly hadn't been vacuumed as there were clumps of hair in the middle of the carpet. In addition to this, the view from 101 overlooks a part of the hotel which looks to be fenced off and was less than appealing to look at. Our view was stacks of pallets, beer barrels and rubbish (picture attached). ||My wife immediately went downstairs to inform reception of the missing bedding and dirty carpet, and it was agreed that during our evening meal the team would have our room cleaned and prepared. ||We had reserved a table for 5.45 and we went slightly early at 5.30. The meal was reasonably good and we finished our meal at approximately 7 o'clock and returned to our room expecting it to be ready. When we entered the room it was not. Again, my wife went to the reception. When she was there someone knocked at the door to see what we needed but by this time my wife had already agreed with the reception team that we would move rooms. The reception team gave her a key card and said they would go and check that the room was ready and would come via room 101 to give us the go ahead. My wife returned to room 101 to collect us and our belongings and after fifteen minutes of waiting no one had been to get us. Instead of waiting any further, we went up to the new room, used the key card to get in and could see that the room was indeed ready. ||By this time it was almost 8 o'clock which meant by the time we got ready for bed, the children were a lot later to bed than intended and were quite disturbed in the process of going to bed having had to move around and so on. ||To top it off, we got the smell of marijuana draughting through the window, presumably as guests went outside to smoke, along with a card horn blasting loudly outside sometime, I think, after 10pm. I appreciate that neither of these two particular things were the fault of the hotel, but they were nonetheless cherries on the cake. ||When we checked out the man on reception asked how our stay had been and I did say we had had some issues and he acknowledged that he was aware, apologised and explained that they had been exceptionally busy over the past few days.||In total, we spent £205 on our room (£131), food (main course only) and a few non-alcoholic drinks (£74). Whilst I noted in my opening comments that we enjoyed the evening meal and drinks, I find it difficult to accept that our room and overall experience was worth anywhere near what we paid. ||The stay was supposed to be a half-term treat. Safe to say that we're very disappointed and that is very telling as we had breakfast, checked out and drove home all before 9am. ||Had they not taken payment when we checked in, I wouldn't have been paying. We have complained and we've been offered 30% off our next stay and a free upgrade. In short, they want us to spend £150+ for them to say sorry, and that's not happening. Even if I could afford to, the wife is unlikely to step foot in the hotel ever again. A refund of a significant amount of what we paid would not have been unreasonable and now they are just ignoring me. Not acceptable.

We had picked a 2pm check in on booking.com but when we approached the desk at 2:45ish we were told our room wasn’t ready. However when we asked staff for an update Jazeel was so quick to get us all sorted and couldn’t offer enough help. The room was lovely and out the way in the cottage area.

The food was absolutely amazing at dinner. Both of us had the stacked burger and it was just fantastic (it also came with fries and sauce).

There is a bargain booze and tesco short drive from hotel for any extra necessities.

Cottage rooms are very nice. The bathroom had a great shower and kitchen is sufficient however we didn’t have cutlery to start out (which was later delivered by the helpful Jazeel) and no pans to cook but this didn’t affect us. The bed was comfortable and large with an even larger duvet, couch was nice and it looked to be a fold out bed option.

A good selection of different breakfasts including classic english breakfast, pastries, fruits, cereals, and cheese. Dining was busy when we arrived midway through breakfast but the second day we came later and it was much quieter. Staff were very good at refilling food and helpful with cutlery and tables.

At the end of the weekend and after checking out we had booked ourselves an hour couple massage which was absolutely fantastic and a wonderful experience to end the long weekend away. Staff were amazing and attentive.

Had a spa day at Park Hall and was really impressed! The leisure facilities are basic but clean, and although the sauna and steam room are small, they did the job. The spa area where the treatments are carried out is lovely – it smells amazing, with gorgeous Temple Spa products on display.

We booked through Wowcher, so I didn’t expect much, but it exceeded all expectations. I had a massage with Neive – honestly one of the best I’ve ever had! My daughter had a facial with Tanya and loved it – her skin is glowing. The spa staff were excellent, especially Tanya who really looked after us.

Sheer incompetence and pathetic level of service provided by everyone within this establishment. Bare in mind, this isn't cheapest hotel available and there was no deal available either for when I booked it, and as a customer paying full price for something, I am entitled to speak out, not to tarnish how fine this establishment believes it is, but to warn others that some of the other reviews are in fact, very very true!

Rooms are not as described. The superior rooms are very basic and bland, the hallways smell of weed, cigarette smoke and urine.

The lift is shocking.

The rooms are not soundproofed either and blackout curtains do not exist.

When making concerns known to hotel staff, I received a barrage of excuses. For example, requesting hot water for a shower at 1:00am before bed, I was told "It is warm" and could be because other guests might be showering at the same time. Give it time.

Another example: When advising that the TV doesn't work, housekeeping came to the room, flicked through the channels to see that it wasn't working, told me it wasn't working and said he'd be back, and he didn't come back.

The bedsheets smell like smoke and damp mixed.

Unfortunately, this hotel is no where close to bring a 4 star hotel.

I didn't get as far as using the spa facilities because I checked out the following after an extremely depressing sleepless night.

Be careful guys and girls.

This hotel is clearly a work in progress under new ownership, a lot is happening, not everything finished and this can be forgiven as takes time. For price is very good, dining is superb, room required decoration, walls were quite poor, and mattress had a lot to be desired on one side, fortunately as this was a business trip I only needed the better side but if had been with my wife, a complaint would have had to of been made regarding the mattress. ||||||Generally, I would and I am returning.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Unhygienic Facilities

I visited the spa for a special afternoon with my mum and sister, a lovely surprise for me as I am 36 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing and pampering experience fell far below expectations due to poor service, disorganisation, and lack of cleanliness.

When my sister booked, the confirmation email stated that we would be greeted and shown around — a level of service you’d reasonably expect for a spa day. However, this never happened. We were left to figure everything out ourselves and had to ask all the questions, from where to go next to what was included. If we hadn’t asked, we wouldn’t even have received robes or towels. The whole process felt chaotic and poorly managed from the start.

Service in the dining area was equally poor. We weren't offered a drink for over half an hour, and despite booking our afternoon tea for the time of arrival, it wasn't served until 45 minutes later. I was offered a coffee and requested a latte, only to be told — once seated — that a latte wasn't included. To make matters worse, I was then informed the coffee machine wasn’t working anyway and was served a very watered-down instant coffee instead. My mum and sister received their tea, but the whole experience felt inconsistent and disorganised. The staff seemed untrained and inattentive, which is simply not what you expect at a spa.

The facilities were another major letdown. In the pool area, there were no seats or hooks for robes and towels. The steps into the pool were unstable and felt unsafe — a genuine concern, particularly for someone pregnant. The water looked dirty, with floating hair, what appeared to be dead skin, and an unpleasant smell. The edges of the pool also looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in some time.

The changing room was equally unkempt, with used towels left strewn about — none of which were cleared during the four hours we were there. There was nowhere comfortable to sit and relax. The only seating was a small bench outside the sauna (nowhere near the pool) and a stiff, upright sofa in the reception area that was uncomfortable and uninviting.

As for the actual treatment, the 30-minute massage was okay — nothing exceptional, but it met the basic expectations. There was nothing wrong with it, but it certainly wasn’t a highlight of the day.

Overall, this was not the relaxing, enjoyable experience we were hoping for. The whole visit felt rushed, unwelcoming, and unhygienic. For the price and the occasion, it was deeply disappointing — and certainly not something I’d recommend, especially for anyone pregnant or looking for a high-quality spa experience.

From being greeted at reception by Sachin and Gladwin the scene was set for a memorable stay.|Our room was excellent and the bed was extremely comfortable.|The hotel is ideally situated and enjoys a beautiful rural setting with a gorgeous lake with very interesting wildlife.|The main reason for us pointing out the efforts of Sachin and Gladwin was because the hotel experienced a serious water problem ie there wasn’t any on the second day due to a local council problem causing them to disconnect all supplies in the immediate area.|Sachin and Gladwin moved very quickly in both explaining the problems to the guests and communicating this with updates on an ongoing basis.|We still managed to enjoy a first class breakfast with the catering staff coming up trumps in providing a very good service in difficult circumstances.|Thanks to all concerned in helping us enjoy a very refreshing break.
