A Complete Disgrace ā Avoid at All Costs
Save yourself the frustration and the disappointment. One Spa has plummeted in quality, and your money and time are far better spent elsewhere.
A word of warning for anyone considering the 3h āEscape at Oneā experience at a ridiculous Ā£90+ per person, it's a blatant rip-off. The actual value? No more than Ā£40.
And donāt be fooled by the āBest Spa in Scotlandā title from the Good Spa Guide for 2023 and 2024. That accolade was clearly bought through paid advertising. In reality, this spa wouldnāt even rank as the best in Edinburgh.
From Luxury Retreat to Embarrassing Dump: The decline of One Spa is just sad. It once stood as a haven where members respected the space and each other. Now, it's a disgraceful money pit with no regard for customer experience. Rules are ignored, management doesn't care, and customers are treated like disposable sources of revenue. Whoever is running this place has no understanding of hospitality or guest loyalty.
The facilities have fallen into shocking disrepair. The main pool area is deteriorating, with missing tiles, rusty screws protruding dangerously, and visible mould growth. The so-called "quiet area" where the saunas, steam rooms, hammam etc are located has reeked of sewage for over a year. Basic hygiene standards are non-existent, and the staff makes no effort to enforce cleanliness.
The once-exclusive, serene atmosphere has been destroyed. The spa now feels like a chaotic public pool. Loud, disruptive groups dominate the space, turning the hydropool into a social media stage for endless selfies and videos. If you hoped for relaxation, prepare instead to be a background extra in someoneās latest Instagram story. Staff stand idly by, refusing to enforce even the most basic rules.
Customer service has hit rock bottom. Thanks to incompetent management, staff turnover is constant, and itās glaringly obvious that proper training is nonexistent. Staff members are apathetic and dismissive, with little concern for guest satisfaction. The fact that you have to ask for a dressing gownāa standard offering at any respectable spaāspeaks volumes. Either provide a luxury experience or donāt. Charging premium rates while delivering dismal service is insulting.
In 2022, a manager sent me the following email:
"On a more personal note, I would also like to thank you personally. I see you have been a member since 2019, through what has been a turbulent time for the entire country. I want to express my gratitude for your continued membership."
It has since proved entirely hypocritical in light of their actions. Empty words. That so-called gratitude evaporated the moment they saw an opportunity for a cash grab.
Iāve spent thousands at One Spa over the years, and Iāve never felt more disrespected. The astronomical price hikes are a shameless cash grab, completely unjustified by the lack of improvements. No added value, no incentives, no consideration for those who supported the spa through tough times. Every long-term customer I know has abandoned this place in favour of vastly superior options in Edinburgh.
Donāt waste your money. One Spa is a sinking ship, and the management has no interest in saving it.

Came here as a small group for the 3-hour £90 per person experience and it wasn't worth the price. A similar and better experience in London only costs £40. There was a good variety of saunas but not as many steam rooms and special showers. Two of their rather cool 30° rooms could've easily been turned into another hotter steam room. These rooms also smelled rather sour and mouldy. I didn't see the rooms being cleaned at all during my entire 3-hour stay, while at other spas I've seen staff coming in to wipe down at least every few hours. Coming from the tropics myself, their tropical shower felt more like an Arctic one. There is no cold shower or plunge pool, and just 1 measly shaved ice dispenser. I must've counted only 1 communal school-style water fountain in the sauna area, otherwise you'd have to walk all the way back to the locker rooms for the more sanitary option of getting your own disposable cup and using the water dispenser there. The price comes with access to the hotel swimming pool which is shared with hotel guests. I tried booking our experience on their website, which didn't work so I had to call their phone. Luckily they still had availability close to our preferred date. The receptionists were very friendly though, but that was the best thing that stood out for me.

We booked the Refresh package costing £255. It's the first time I've been but wouldn't return. What i would say is that the treatments were fantastic. However, that's where the compliments end. We had lunch after our treatments, I had a dish described as pea and gluten free pasta. What I didn't expect was it to be just that, whole peas with pasta, that's it! No seasoning, sauce, or dressing. Very strange, bland and blooming difficuly to eat. We then went to the spa, which, as many others have commented, had a strong smell of the sewer system and generally seemed run down and tired. Some of the rooms were too cool, the overall feel lacked the relaxation feel with lighting too bright, no ambient music and the pool leading to the outside pool needs upgrading. The plastic flaps that you have to try push out the way and swim through really didn't add a luxury touch. The final blow was the shower area, also being run down and needing an overhaul. Overall attention to details in this spa experience are not meeting the five star standards expected at the price charge.

Had a beautiful yime at One Spa. The staff were so lovely and went above and beyond to show me around and make me feel welcome. The indoor pool is large and really great for relaxing - along with the rooftop outdoor pool and thermal suite. My favourite is the hot stone sauna followed by a handful of freshly dispensed ice from the ice shower. A real relaxing treat in the middle of the city!

The experience is not worth it the money.
The place is dirty , mouldy and definitely not worth it.
People go there as is one of the biggest spa in Edinburgh but the quality.
Simple missing good cleaners there even relaxing chairs when you look up you will see rusty lights above your head! That is not a luxury experience for sure! Shame

Deeply Disappointing
As a long-time loyal customer of One Spa in Edinburgh, I am utterly disheartened by the recent price hike. The increase is not only steep but feels entirely unjustified, especially given the loyalty many of us have shown over the years.
Whatās worse is the complete lack of consideration for their regular patrons. Instead of rewarding loyalty, it feels like One Spa has chosen to alienate its core customers. Communication around the price increase was poor, and no efforts were made to soften the blowāno added value, no incentives, no acknowledgment of how this would impact those who have supported the spa through thick and thin.
To make matters worse, the service and facilities have not seen any noticeable improvement to warrant such a jump in cost. Itās hard not to feel that this is purely a cash grab, with little thought given to the people who made the spa what it is today.
Loyalty should matter, especially in a service-oriented business like this. Unfortunately, it seems One Spa has lost sight of that entirely. Unless there is a dramatic change in attitude toward its customers, I cannot see myself returningāand I imagine Iām not alone.
To those considering a visit, Iād urge you to think twice. There are other options in Edinburgh that value their customers far more than One Spa does.

Dated, run down and poorly maintained. Appear to be relying on historical previous good reviews.
Some parts nice, but you quickly notice the flaws in the facilities. Changing rooms shabby. Several rooms have had temperatures turned down, or features turned off or removed. Facilities noticeably cooler on weekdays (maybe only heat for weekend guests?). Odd smell in some rooms, particularly the steam room. Facilities often not working. No where near the level it should be at, or even best in the area . Not really even worth it as an add on for a hotel stay.

Lovely spa experience, masseuse was friendly and gentle. Would be nice if people would follow the rules of being quiet in the quiet areas. Also 2 rooms were not working which was disappointing. Lovely experience otherwise
