We only joined last August and chose Nuffield Health for the facilities on offer such as swimming pool and café, that the other local gyms didn't have.
The monthly cost was considerably higher but we thought this would be worth it.
We'd booked an appointment for a tour but due to training no one was available when we arrived. We joined anyway and opted for a 12 month membership.
Since August we've noticed quite a few of the machines are frequently out of order, the ones that do work are old and very worn.
This means I haven't been able to do a regular programme and instead just use whatever machines are available and in working order.
We haven't used the swimming pool yet as when we've been it is often full of children and extremely busy. Same applies to the café, there are often kids running around and yesterday, literally turning tables over and jumping over the chairs.
Nuffield certainly isn't offering a premium experience, despite the premium monthly fee.

Always feel welcome. Members and staff are brilliant. Proper sense of community with everything you need from pool to sauna to clean gym. Spot on.

Not a high quality gym at all. The equipment is 30 years old and they have no intention of replacing it, which is totally unacceptable for Nuffield, not even for a tatty city gym behind the chip shop. A lack of competition locally is the only reason they can keep going and yet be so dated and rough round the edges. Disgraceful.

Must say Nuffield I’m not impressed with your exercise program. If you are not on line at 7am to book a class 8 days in advance, you have very little chance of getting the class you want. Very disappointing and a waste of money. Too many members for few classes available. Thumbs down from me.

If orange, laminated cards, overpriced membership and machines that are out of order is your thing, this is the gym for you…

Why can't you give no stars? I had been a member for 6 years. The class trainers have been very good. However, when I tried to get help with a new condition I got no help and no return calls (as promised), despite 5 requests including with the head PT. I would have been paying extra for the PT over and above membership. My condition deteriorated and I was unable to drive. I rang head office to cancel. They told me to ring the branch. I did sbd left a message. I continued to pay for 2 further months, so they had 2 months notice as I did not use the gym within that period. They then started sending me debt letters. I again contact the gym. They wanted medical letters to prove I could cancel! They have no right. I refused.

They have now sold what they purport to be my "debt" as they are after another month from me! Well, I've told the collection heavies they can try to get it from my estate when I'm dead.

Don't sign a contract with this gym. It is very dated now and they don't keep up with maintaining it as it should be. Management is really lacking in making people feel welcome.

Excellent Gym!
I don't live in the area but my local Nuffield is the same tier as this one and wow, what a difference. People of Chesterfield, you are lucky to have this gym as it is far, far better than my local gym which is the same tier but much more money per month due to being close to London.

Changing rooms all really clean and tidy. They can get quite congested before and after classes, but not much can be done about that.

A good range of equpment, nothing out of order on my visit on 29/8/23. Really friendly and helpful staff as well as really friendly members. Your members put weights back when they are done which is a refreshing change to see.

A very positive experience, excellent cafe area which was very busy. I would highly recommend. 👍🏻Keep up the great work.

Well I have not had my induction yet but I would just like to comment and say how wonderful Lauren is. I visited the gym to join, I was very nervous and Lauren was so good to me. I phoned up today to ask a question and again Lauren was extremely helpful. Her customer service is second to none. If all the team are like Lauren then I look forward to being a member.
