I am so sad to say I, like many others, have been a patient here for a large portion of my life, however -
I’m away at the moment and requested an essential medication to be forwarded to a chemist local to me. A medication which would hopefully prevent a hospital admission.
This was refused. It wasn’t a difficult request. A necessity I have required on numerous occasions.
I was very luckily temporarily registered, seen and prescribed by the most compassionate team, who were incensed as to how my own doctors treated me.
Why this service could not be provided to me by my own surgery is beyond me. I am not only confused but angered and upset by this level of disregard to my very serious ( possibly lifethreatening) needs.

I was a patient at this surgery around 5 years ago and it was great but I moved out of the area until recently, now I am registered here again and it is shocking! Appointments run late at least 30mins. Doctor said he would expedite my referral for an operation I need due to having cancerous cells and he didn't do anything with it for 2 weeks until I chased it up multiple times! My son was transferred from Leeds Mindmate and CAMHS back to Wakefield on the 18th June and the doctors have yet again sat on it until yesterday (19th Sept) after I've had to chase it up again! My eldest son and I now have markers on our names to say we missed an appointment when I requested a telephone appt and the receptionist booked a face to face... I called twice during the day to say the Dr still hadn't called and was reassured that we were still on the list, then to be told we'd missed our appointment! They had to listen to the call recordings and then apologised but are unable to remove the marker from our names. Appalling service in the 9 months we've been registered.

Consistently poor in terms of waiting times to speak to an understaffed / inattentive reception either in person or on the phone; appointments always run late, often by more than 30mins; and have experienced messed up appointments and prescriptions several times.

Medical practitioners are of course great when you get to see them. But the organisation and overall experience is woeful.

I recently moved to the area and registered with this surgery. I cannot praise them enough. I’ve needed a few appointments and they’ve always managed to surpass my expectation with the waiting times. All staff have been a pleasure to deal with. Its a massive improvement compared to my last surgery!

Trying to get an appointment here is virtually impossible, ring up at 8.29am system says ring back after 8.30am ring at 8.30am "sorry our lines are at capacity and your call can't be taken" try ringing later and all the appointments are gone. Absolute joke.

I've been at New Southgate surgery for a number of years. I find everyone welcoming. The reception staff are calm and polite considering the volume of calls they must screen on a daily basis. I've always felt very well cared for. There are times I've gone for bloods doing elsewhere due to wait time, but considering it's minutes away from the practice that's not an issue, just a necessary process. I'm thankful and grateful for the sacrifices the health staff make to do what they do, I'm sure it's well above and beyond usual working hours!!!!

I have been a patient all my life and never had a problem.
The problems lie with impatient people. Our Dr's and nurses are human beings doing their job to the best of their ability within the constraints of the law and medicine.
There are, nt enough Dr's and nurses within the NHS because the government promise more money and it never appears, but the government are, nt bothered because they all go to private practices!!!!
