Having previously been at a practice where it was almost impossible to get an appointment I have been really impressed by Mythe Medical Practice. The receptionists are always polite and helpful, and triage calls have been offered when requested. We have seen 3 Dr's and they have all been extremely kind and knowledgeable.

I called in today, 15th Oct with a problem with my ear . Receptionist was very helpful and i was seen within 20 mins. I am a fairly new patient and everyone i have dealt with have been very good and im happy i joined the practice

No point calling them, you can rarely get past the person answering the call. You'd be lucky if you ever get to speak to a GP or even meet one.
I'm not an elderly and I didn't have life threatening emergency but there is zero sympathy on their side. They don't even want to hear you out properly, just refer to pharmacist and slam phone down.
Some times people call you after putting it off calling you for many times, then call you because something is bothering them or causing pain, physical or emotional.
You just shoo them off - does the person answering your phone for appointment have any human values?
That's great support, keep it up Mythe Surgery. I'm sure you're all doing well in your sense.

Called to try and speak to a Dr about a serious health concern , receptionist was blunt, condescending and intimidating. Did manage to receive a call from the Dr which unfortunately was cut off mid conversation. Called back the main line only to be handled by the same receptionist who bluntly and rudely advised the Dr must have finished what he was saying(mid sentence?) or he would have called back(which he didn’t). This isn’t the first time receptionists have been dismissive and rude although it is clearly advised that this type of behaviour isn’t tolerated from the public toward them. Also fail to understand how these employees are qualified medically to judge if a person qualifies for an appointment and is privy to a patients medical details. Very poor service toward people who are already vulnerable . I will say that the Dr I try to see is very helpful and reactive as are the nursing staff .

The patient care navigators I directly conversed with exhibited an extremely discourteous and patronizing demeanor, and they severely lacked compassion - which leads me to wonder why they chose to pursue this profession?

Two of the physicians I have been in touch with also exhibit a lack of empathy and are too hasty to dismiss or disregard you.

As a result, I have resorted to seeking private healthcare, so why are we compelled to pay such substantial sums of money to be treated so poorly? This used to be a competent medical practice, but it has now become dreadful.

Sadly not a great experience for my first interaction with the surgery. I had to discuss my health concerns via a telephone screening with an unsympathetic phone operative before being "allowed" an appointment with a doctor. I understand the purpose of a screening system to stop time wasters and allocate phone/face to face appointments as appropriate but a little understanding wouldn't go amiss.

The doctor did not appear to want to give the medication I feel I need. Someone unable to advocate for themselves may have accepted this which could have dire implications for their mental health/suicidality.

No mental health specialists amongst the many GPs at the surgery.

I did get an appointment on the day which is a plus.

New to the surgery.
Shockingly bad just doesn’t cover it.
For example:
Incredibly brusque female interrogated my wife asking medical questions so that she could then decide whether my wife’s request was urgent. Unable to find what medical university she qualified at.
My wife has a serious condition that can worsen into cancer.
She asked to see a specific doctor who has an interest in what she suffers with - 8 week wait
Too ridiculously long to wait so my wife asked to see any doctor - 7 week wait
On another occasion she was told a phone call would be made to her that afternoon - no one rang
I’ve finished all tablets relating to an ongoing problem I have, I put in request for a prescription, and was texted to say a doctor needed to speak to me.
Went to make an appt on line as suggested - 7 week wait
Rang the surgery to make an urgent appt - 4 week wait
Rang to say this was no good as I had no tablets left. Told by a very nice receptionist that a doctor would call that afternoon - no one rang
It’s now been 4 hours since surgery opened this morning and - no doctor has rung.

After looking further into the Mythe Medical Practice one would ask how a surgery like this has such healthy accounts - what are they getting paid for. We have needed to pop into the surgery four or five times to sort problems and each time there has been NO ONE sat waiting in the surgery, where on earth did it all go so badly wrong.

Honestly the best doctors I have ever been registered with. Reception staff are always helpful on the phone. 3 times recently I have submitted an online request in the evening to speak to a GP, and have received a call first thing the next day. The GP's actually care, and are really kind and understanding. Their facilities are great, including their coordination of vaccines etc. Really impressed, thank you.
