I have been a patient here since I was a child and I have got to say that I find the staff to be excellent. It can be difficult to get an appointment at times due to the large amount of people that use the surgery, but that is not the fault of the staff. I have never seen a doctor and felt anything other than well cared for. The nurses are great too! I find that the receptionists do everything they possibly can to help you. The online services are great too, allowing you to view test results or order repeat prescriptions. It would be helpful if the online appointment service could be active again to book future appointments without needing to call the surgery.

I have never not been able to secure a morning appointment, and when I'm seen it's prompt, to the point and no fuss.

It is difficult to book an appointment date for the future which is to be expected given the amount of people in ushawmoor, time allocated per patient and amount of doctors available. However this is not something they are in control of.

People who complain that they couldn't get an appointment fail to realise that there are seven and a half thousand other people in the village, and emergencies are to be treat as such...(Go to the hospital dude)

Other people may give this place a bad rap, but when it was necessary they have never not been able to help me, saving my life on occasion, and always being available to advise since.

I can't help wondering if the negative posts are referring to the same surgery I am registered at. The receptionists are friendly, the doctors are good, the building is tidy and clean.
It can be difficult getting through on a morning, but that's down to volume of calls, not the fault of the practice.
I know peoples experiences can differ, but in all honesty, I have never had a single problem with them, other than the aforementioned difficulty getting through on a morning. I reiterate, this is not the fault of the practice....
Hope this is useful to whoever looks at it 🙂

What an awful surgery, I have never quite experienced anything like it. I have asthma and so has my son. When we first registered the first appointment I could get was for 4 weeks time. In that time I was very ill, needed inhalers. Rang every morning for 2 weeks straight and was unable to get an appointment. Would not give me a prescription as I needed to see a doctor first. Went for my appointment today at 09.30 (been waiting 4 weeks) and was told that my appointment was actually 08.30. They had booked me in for the wrong time as it was defitenly 09.30. I was so upset as I had no inhalers and had been in hospital last week. The receptionist said she would speak to the Dr, the Dr refused to see me as I had missed my appointment. I have an underlining health condition and a Dr would not see me, absolutely disgusting.
Went to Meadowfield surgery straight after and was given a prescription and an appointment within five minutes.
The receptionist' s at Ushaw Moor are rude and unable to do their jobs properly. Absolute disgraceful NHS service.... please so not go there!

My husband has the misfortune to be registered as a patient. He rarely goes. However today he urgently need to see a doctor, for a significant infection in his arm. As a nurse of 25 years I am aware he needs treatment to avoid sepsis. No appointments for 2 weeks. So off to the minor injuries. I will make sure he moves surgeries today. I will be making a complaint to the CCG raising my concerns

Doctors & Staff are brilliant. Are always friendly and helpful. However there is always a problem ringing for appointment in the morning. Often engaged for over 30 mins. Then no appts. available. Another tel.line would be helpful. Have to Q outside at 8am if you need appt. that day. This is the reason I have left only 4 stars.

Been with this surgery for about twenty years. Friendly medical and clerical staff and treatment always first class. Never had any problem getting an appointment.

One of the worst doctor's surgeries in county durham.

Patients made to wait days on end for URGENT appointments and are often fobbed off with fake excuses when they ring as to why they can't get appointments that day.

I'll be changing my surgery as soon as possible.

Never known anything like it in my life.
