I joined Marfleet Group Practice in February 2019, and at first, my experience with the practice was positive. However, things began to change when I started being seen by Dr. Weir.

In my personal experience, I found Dr. Weir to be impatient and lacking in compassion. I repeatedly tried to explain that I was experiencing a number of ongoing, unexplained symptoms and was seeking help and support. Unfortunately, rather than investigating these concerns further, I felt that I was met with hostility and even threatened with removal from the practice.

One incident that particularly stood out was when I missed an appointment to bring in a urine sample. This was due to my mother, who has temporal lobe epilepsy, forgetting the appointment. Rather than understanding the context, Dr. Weir raised his voice at me, accused me of being “lazy,” and told me to “stop making excuses.” I found this response extremely distressing and inappropriate.

There was also a serious incident where my mother was mistakenly given heart medication meant for an 88-year-old man. Fortunately, she noticed the error and returned the medication to the pharmacy before taking it, but this could have been a dangerous mistake.

In March 2020, I was removed from the practice without a clear explanation other than a stated “breakdown in the patient-doctor relationship.” From my perspective, I had always tried to express myself respectfully and was simply seeking help for my health concerns. I did not feel that Dr. Weir made any genuine effort to understand or address my needs as a patient.

I left the practice feeling unheard, unsupported, and dismissed, which was a disappointing and disheartening outcome after having initially placed my trust in their care. I hope that by sharing this, it helps others to be aware of the importance of feeling safe and respected in a healthcare setting.

The receptionist on 27/04/2025 at 11:30am on the prescription line needs to learn how to be polite to ill people. Rude behaviour and sarcasm are not a trait required for someone in this position and given the amount of negative reviews highlighting the same thing I'd say someone in charge at the surgery needs to have a serious look at their staff choices and how their staff are performing...

Have been going here for a few years and was really happy with the service but recently due to issues with a new system they've created I can no longer get my needed documentation on their webpage which I’ve used regularly as they keep closing the online page about an hour to two hours after they open and I do not like speaking over the phone so makes it very difficult to get said documentation regularly.

Excellent support
I have spent the past three weeks trying to get myself better from a nasty cough/cold type virus, still going to work but if I'm honest struggling - called the surgery, used the call back option to make an appointment and a very efficient and helpful administrator made me an appointment with Lucy ANP for the next morning. Lucy listened to me, my concerns, gave me a good physical check up and prescribed some antibiotics. I'm hoping those will do the job so I can get back to my normal self. No complaints from me about the service provided by my GP practice

THANK YOU

My family GP for years is always great service from docs and staff. Using an app for appointments is great to get 1. Just be on at 7.30 pm to book your slot, call times can take time in the mornings, but always answer all around great practice.

Dr Weir This is the second time myself and now my husband has had an issue with this waste of oxygen doctor. I already reported him over a year ago and he still treats his patients like something he stepped in. Its hard enough to get an appointment to see a doctor as it is and when you finally get one your met with that insufferable fool. My husband and i do have medical insurance with work but we do have to occasionally see the GP at our registered practice and he has the audacity to question my husband as to why he has had a private health assessment done and because they have found issues with his heart he has an attitude that he has been advised to see his GP to discuss the results. Whats wrong with doing that absolutely nothing and you shouldn't feel ashamed that you are looking after your own health. Thats what we all pay into the system for. Disgusting
