The room we booked was a family room, which was well furnished and decorated, and clean. We were glad of the small fridge in the room for keeping our snacks in. Housekeeping were helpful and offered us anything we needed without being intrusive - gave us a top up of biscuits for the little one. |Parking was easy and plentiful. |The welcome from Coral at reception was warm, pleasant and helpful. |We ate out locally for our evening meals, but had the breakfast that was included in our room rate. Kiana headed up the breakfast team, who were all super busy for each of the three days we stayed there. Kiana was super professional, juggling clean and used tables and lots of people trying to squeeze breakfast in before breakfast service was over, ensuring that orders were taken and food was replenished accordingly. Despite being so busy, Kiana was cool as a cucumber. Kiana’s allergy awareness was impressive (I’m gluten free) - this is the level of awareness that give me full confidence in what I was eating - plenty of other establishments would do well to have staff with this impressive level of allergen knowledge. |The pool was nice, the Elemis toiletries were available for use in the spa/pool area and rooms (but no conditioner in the rooms?). |It’s worth bearing in mind that this is a golf venue first and foremost with a spa, with swimming times being restricted for children (even guests, during school half term) to mornings and late afternoons as they have adult classes and spa club users during the day - I suppose I should’ve checked before booking that the pool would be available for me to teach my child how to swim without sacrificing a relaxing start to the day. |Kiana has earned the fifth star to this otherwise four star stay.

Amazing weekend golfing! Me and Helen, had really good rounds despite the weather. Staff and Hotel in general really good. Had an amazing night, looked after so well by Charlie at the bar and then Nic on nights afterwards. Both kept us drinking late, and great chatting with both. Hotel does need some improvements, but staff really make the place.

Lovely hotel. Bedroom overlooked the golf course with a table and 2 chairs on a patio to sit outside. Bed was lovely and comfy. Bathroom was spotless. Whilst we were staying for 3 days. There was a large golf tournament on. Lots of men from all over the country were competing. 98% were polite and well mannered. 2% really let the other golfers down. Who turned up with boxes of beer. Two separate parties sat outside on the patio drinking. Some of the language was awful!. They drove the golf buggies around too fast on the paths. We were told by the restaurant staff, that 40 golfers were eating in a separate room, and there would be delays in receiving our evening meals, as the chef was busy cooking for the huge party. Surely if the hotel knew they were having 40 extra meals to cook each night, they should have taken on extra staff. Overall, I think the staff managed to deal with the golfers, just a shame some of them carried on as if it was a stag party. Put us off staying at Hill Valley again. Much prefer the Portal hotel a few miles away, where we have never experienced any rowdy behaviour from any of the guests.

We are staying for a 2 night dinner B&B with golf package. After a good day on the golf course we enjoyed a very good glass or two of Aspalls cider on draught in a busy Sun terrace. There was a huge group of society golfers and we we thought that we would have to wait a while for food service but once in the restaurant our server Izzy was absolutely amazing, very attentive, naturally chatty and helpful with food choices. We thought the food was very high standard, well done to all involved in the kitchen as they must have been very busy. We are looking forward to our second meal later tonight

Excellent round of golf on a great course! The Service and Beer was lovely in the Bar area too. We didn’t have any food this time but we will definitely have some next time. ||Also, special Mention to Jack in the Pro shop for helping us out, as it was our first time at the course. He was extremely helpful and very welcoming!

They charge £18 for breakfast and you are only allowed 1 sausage! Have a word! Not value for money!

The rest of the hotel for what we paid was good value for money. £120 sat night for a upgraded room was good sized and comfy enough. Just about 4 star I would say. Nice round of golf to be had. Hotel is fine for the money.

Breakfast staff need to smile, but then again when you have been told to limit everyone to 1 sausage and 1 scoop of everything else, I would be pretty sad faced to.

This hotel golf & spa is a beautiful setting, but unfortunately, the place itself looks tired and run down and, in my opinion, in desperate need of a refurb.
Our room was very spacious with a great view over the golf course but it was also in close proximity to the bar area and because of the nice weather people were outside until 2am at least and quite loud!
The room was supposed to be an upgrade, but I found it to be quite shabby and hadn't been cleaned properly. The table in the room was full of dust so much so that I was able to write in the dust "clean me" the shower area was clean but looked grubby and worn, due to old grouting etc and the shower wouldn't switch off properly after use with a constant dripping. It's probably due to a build-up of limescale!
On a positive note, we received a warm welcome at reception when we arrived, and to be fair, when I pointed out the issues in the room with the shower and dust, these were quickly rectified. We were also given a voucher for a free drink and offered a refund on the upgrade fee, which was £6 (not yet received as of writing this review )
Overall, it is a great location, and I'm sure many golfers love it, but for me, personally, a bit too dated and felt very dark and drab in the room.
Breakfast wasn't included in the price,
but you could request this on arrival, but at £18 for a continental breakfast and £24 for a cooked, we decided to give it a miss and go to a local cafe.
Didn't use the spa, so I can't comment on this.
One night was enough, and unless it gets refurbished, I won't be going back.

Before I start this was my experience and may not be the same for everyone but I thought everyone should know before coming here.
I stayed here one night after booking a round on the golf course which is stunning and can be challenging too. The room itself was a great size for the price especially for two people. As the evening progressed I then came aware of all the problems that the room was hiding, consisting of limited amounts of plug sockets, lights not being bright enough, mould and limescale present almost everywhere in the bathroom with sticky parts all over the counters too. Regarding the lights there were many gaps and holes around the lights making it easy for them to fall out at any time. Throughout are stay the smell of smoke filled the room when our windows open due to the guests downstairs constantly smoking, even after being told not to and made obvious that smoking is not allowed via the information given to you in the rooms.
In the morning I headed to the gym which I had no problems with besides being on the small side. I could easily complete my usual workout with no problems. After the gym and taking a shower surrounded by mould I headed down to breakfast where things did not get better. The cutlery and mugs/cups that were set up on the table were visibly dirty and had to get a replacement. When the meal finally came I expected a plate full of food almost too much to eat like most places would. Here you will be lucky to receive two sausages and beans that have been heated up for the second time after being cold and untouched on someone else's plate taken and put on yours to limit the amount of cooking they have to do.
My mum is vegetarian and ordered the vegan breakfast for only the waiter dropping the sausage and replacing it with a meat sausage instead of a vegan one.
If this place didn't have a golf course on its site it simply wouldn't exist and have the money to keep operating.
Besides all this lovely stay and a lovely place but not worth the 4 stars it has.
