I suffered a stroke this year .. from the very second I entered the hospital till the minute I left, the care I received was just fabulous. The nurses in every department, x-ray, AAU & A&E, were the best!! Doctors & specialists too … I owe my life to these wonderful , wonderful people!!! The best hospital bar none!

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment with the Royal Infirmary at Hull's handling of my colleague's medical emergency. Despite his repeated calls to the hospital earlier in the day, reporting severe symptoms, his concerns were downplayed and dismissed. Tragically, his condition deteriorated, and he collapsed while on his way to the hospital.

It was only by chance that a passing ambulance crew found him and provided immediate attention, saving his life. The ambulance staff were exceptional, but the hospital's failure to take my colleague's initial calls seriously is inexcusable.

This experience raises serious questions about the hospital's triage protocol and their handling of emergency situations. It is unacceptable that my colleague's pleas for help were ignored until it was almost too late.

I hope the hospital will conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and take necessary steps to improve their emergency response procedures.

Until then, I would advise others to be cautious and persistent when seeking medical help.

Yes! the one star is for the ambience!

In Nov 2024 I was flown through a shop window as a car mounted the pavement & I was taken to HRI. I can't remember anything of A&E, but my husband has said the treatment was exceptional, then I was admitted to Ward 40. I drifted in & out of consciousness for days not remembering much, but what I do remember was the attentive staff, from ancillary staff, nurses, to doctors, who looked after me with tender loving care. I now have ongoing rehabilitation services, and in time I hope to make as full recovery as possible. This has only been possible with such fantastic care and attention. Thank you kindly.

I came to this clinic. I had a big huge boil on my neck, which became inflamed and festered in literally 4 days. I sat in line for about 7 hours. They took my blood for analysis and said, Wait, I need a consultation, some boss's opinion, the doctor himself could not give me a final answer. In the end. They told me that nothing threatened my life and said, take antibiotics. Although in all. I needed to urgently have an operation and cut out this lipoma!!! I had to leave and the next day leave the country, go abroad, where I had an operation on the same day! Horrible specialists!!!

If your loved one is going on ward 130 W keep a close eye on there care.
Mum went on this ward just after Xmas for discharge. Caught the flu instantly . Was very poorly. Hadn't stay on this ward because no beds. Fair enough. BUT
They don't keep you informed how your loved one is doing even if you ask you don't always get answers...
My mum caught sepsis didn't tell me. I asked a junior doctor if they had results
Mum bed bound her medication just left on side....fortisips left on side....has a bad bed sore not repositioned etc etc...
Last night she got moved to ward 70.
My mum needs thickner in drinks and a level 6 soft diet.
The paper work said normal diet and fluids.
She was also wet and dirty. This was 6.30pm. She hadn't been checked since 12 lunchtime.
And the slop they called meals for my mum was disgusting. I could go on but too much happened.
My mums wordsclast night to the staff on ward 70 was thankyou for been so kind to me That says it all doesn't it.
And as for the nurse manager think she's in the wrong job. Needs to drop her attitude.

Well where do I start? Brought my mum whos 71 into the hospital at the direction of her doctor. She has COPD and has been extremely unwell. A doctor’s paramedic I believe he was, visited her and bloods were taken. She was called back a few hours later and told to go to hospital immediately as she needed to be there as her bloods were way too high.
We got to the hospital and sat while being classified as a priority 2 which is to be seen within 10 minutes and here we are 2 and a half hours later still waiting to be seen. An hour ago the doctors rang my mum to see if she could get to hospital or needed an ambulance. The chap from the doctors spoke with the an and e receptionist (a nurse) who told the doctors she was a priority 2 and next to be seen.
We have sat here which my mum in pain and struggling to breath another hour over and when I raised this with someone I was told everyone I spoke to calm down. Now I can understand if I am being abusive or shouting, easing my voice. But talking and asking what on earth is going on having everyone looking at you while a man keeps saying calm down. A joke.
When I’m asking how long on a priority 2 are we expected to wait? I’m just told we are busy.

If my mum dies while being sat here not being looked after and lied to the trust me NHS I will sue you.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at Hull Royal Hospital. While I understand that hospitals can be under pressure, the level of care and attention I received was well below expectations. The waiting times were excessively long, even for minor treatments. Despite arriving at the A&E early, I had to wait for several hours without any updates or communication from the staff.
